Robert Geary Obituary

Robert John Geary, passed away on Thursday, April 20th, 2023. He was born in New York City on December 7th 1940 and is predeceased by his parents Robert Author and Marion Ryan Geary of Chesapeake Va. Robert was a 1957 graduate from St. Paul's Catholic School and attended St. Paul's Catholic Church. After high school, Robert went into the apprenticeship school to become an Electrician where he worked with his father, Robert A. Geary, President of Ocean Electric and GAVCO Corporation (based in Norfolk, Va. ). He later started his own business, Geary Electric around 1982. He joined the I. B. E. W Local Union #80 and National union. He enjoyed fishing, boating and he had a fascination for older vehicles including watching car racing. He loved UVA Cavaliers football and looked forward to their home games. He was an even bigger fan of the New York Giants football team and proudly made a yard sign supporting their 2012 super bowl win!Robert is survived by his brother Brian A. Geary and his sister, Barbara Carr, five nieces and nephews, his two children, daughter Carole Geary Purser (husband Charles H. Purser) and son Christopher Ryan Geary (wife Erin Geary). Seven grandchildren, Brent Utterback, Chad Mayfor, Kelly Purser, Kylee Geary, Kelsey Geary, Michael Geary, and Ian Geary. A mass of the resurrection will be held 11 AM Thursday, April 27, at St. Pauls Catholic Church by the Rev. Anthony Morris. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association, 5349 E. Princess Anne Rd. , Norfolk, VA 23502.
