Robert Charles Ferrebee, Sr. 80, of Munday, WV, passed away October 3, 2023 at his residence. He was born on November 26, 1942 in Belpre, OH, the son of the late Frank and Alice Ferrebee. Bob had proudly served his country in the US Army. He retired from O'Ames after thirty-nine years. He enjoyed raising his children, riding motercycles, country music and fishing. Bob had been active with Sunrise Baptist Church in years past and was now attending various churches. Bob is survived by his children Robert Ferrebee, Jr. (Rechelle), Vickie C. Lent (Robert), Karen Smith, the mother of his children Iris Ferrebee, grandchildren Casey, Dustin, Chelsie, Thomas, Danielle, Jonathan, Justin, Corey, Chad, Ryan and several great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son Roger Haynes, brother George Ferrebee and sister Darlene Wagner. Funeral services will be 4 pm Sunday at Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Mike Doherty officiating. Visitation will be 2 - 4 on Sunday prior to the service. Christy Lynn Pippin, 43, of Vienna, a victim of domestic violence, passed away December 1, 2023 at her residence. She was born February 29, 1980 in Parkersburg, a daughter of Peggy Sue Pippin, of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. and the late Roger Dell Nutter. She graduated in 1998 from Parkersburg South High School and received her Associates degree from Washington State. For the past 13 years she worked for Jan Dils Attorneys at Law, and enjoyed working for her dad, O. B. and Renee'. Christy had a zest for life. She loved animals, her dogs, especially Cash, who was her baby, her Ford Bronco, loved to boat on the Ohio river, walk & chill with her furbabies at Point Park, watch the Walking Dead, and sunflowers. Left to cherish her memory is her mother Peggy Pippin of NC; her dad, O. B. Epling (Renee') of Belpre; a nephew, Brantley Miller; a niece, Brielle Cline; two sisters, Elizabeth Nutter and Nikki Nutter Wood; her step-mom, Zella Farley (Larry) of Parkersburg; several other nieces and nephews; and a host of friends including her childhood friends, Tommy Platt, and her dear friend James Roy, that she held close to heart, and her furry friend Dinky. In addition to her father, she is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Leona Pippin; her paternal grandmother, Goldie Nutter Hall; her bestie, Sarah Morris (B. F. & T. W. ) A Celebration of Life memorial gathering will be from 2-4 PM Sunday December 10, 2023 at Lambert Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg. Christy was looking forward to attending the Jan Dils Christmas party, which is a Roaring 20's theme. In keeping with that theme, those attending the memorial gathering are encouraged to dress in the Roaring 20's attire, but is optional, in honor of Christy. Leonora Kimberg "Kim" Hornbeck, 84, of Belpre, OH, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2023 at her residence. She is the daughter of the late Louis Kimberg and Flora Simons Shatailo. She was the owner of Hornbecks Bait & Tackle in Belpre, and had prior worked clerical at RCAF and Canada Air in Montreal, and three Army Forts in the US. She enjoyed animals, especially racoons, and reading. Leonora is survived by a stepson, Kevin Hornbeck, a daughter-in-law, Peggy Burns, and several grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Hornbeck; a son, Bryan Burns; and a beloved brother, Irving Kimberg. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Monday, December 4, 2023 at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike St, south Parkersburg with Chaplain Ryan Clegg officiating. Interment will follow at the Pleasant Home Cemetery, Belleville, WV. Family and friends will be welcomed from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Doris R. Thornburg, 87 of Belpre, Ohio. She was born in Parkersburg, WV and was the daughter of the late Dr. Ray Hunter Wharton MD and Ruth VanCamp Wharton. She had worked for several years at the Blennerhassett Museum in Parkersburg, WV. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Parkersburg, WV. Survivors include her three children, Allison Rae Hamrick of Parkersburg, WV, Jeffrey Hunter Thornburg of Corinth, MS, Kristin Ellen Mingrone of Petoskey, MI and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. James Carder

Age - 73

James Dale (Jim) Carder, 73, of Parkersburg, WV, passed away on November 24, 2023, in Belpre, Ohio. The oldest of five, Jim was born on March 16, 1950, in Charleston, Arkansas (his family lived in Barling). A proud Vietnam veteran, he served in the United States Army from 1968 to 1988, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was a dedicated family man, with a deep love for his family. He was an extremely proud father to his two sons whom he raised as a single-father after losing the love of his life, Chong Yim Pak Carder. Jim is a cherished grandfather to his four grandchildren and Jim's life-partner, Sandy Cross, was also a significant part of his life. In addition to his military service, Jim had a successful career as an equipment operator for the State of West Virginia from 2000 to 2011 (when he retired from the state). Outside of work, he enjoyed being a devoted Raiders NFL Football fan and found joy in cooking spicy food. Jim will be remembered for his love for his family, his dedication to his country, and his passion for the Raiders football team. He will be deeply missed by his surviving family members, including his sons, James Carder (Elizabeth) of Nashville,TN, and Shaune Carder (Vivian) of Parkersburg, WV; his grandchildren, Jude Carder, Ezra Carder, Isla Carder, and Amari Carder; his sisters Linda Platt, Ella Wigal, Sherry Phillips, his brother Tommy Carder; and his partner, Sandy Cross. He was preceded in death by his father, Dale Orland Carder, his mother, Ella Mae Carder (Leatherwood), and his beloved wife, Chong Yim Pak Carder. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 1:00pm at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home in Vienna, WV. After the visitation, we will have a beer, in his honor, at the American Legion Post 15 in Parkersburg. Sonia Cheryl Ramsey, 79 of Belpre, Ohio died at the Belpre ER on November 24, 2023. She was born in Parkersburg, WV on April 29, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Everett Dewayne and Margaret Cox. She had worked for many years for the Belrock Diner specializing in making pies. She had been President of the Belpre Senior Citizens. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela Self of Belpre, Ohio, a grandson, Daulton Self of Belpre, Ohio, a sister, Loretta Elliott of Waverly, WV and her grandchildren, Breanna Sky Stemple, Braxton Steven Self, and Brayden William Self. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, James Richard Ramsey and a brother, William E. "Pawnee" Cox. Lester Hamrick

Age - 89

Lester Edward Hamrick, 89, passed away Sunday morning, November 12, 2023. Bom October 14, 1934, in Webster Springs, West Virginia, he is the son of the late Freeda Hofstetter and Denver Hamrick. Lester enlisted in the U. S. Army in January of 1949 at the age of 15 and saw action in Korea and had two tours of Vietnam. The U. S. Army recognized his honorable service with many commendations such as 2 Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. He retired from U. S. Army after 21 years of service to his country. He returned to West Virginia and was employed in the oil and gas industry until he retired. He then became a shuttle bus driver for a Buckhannon ophthalmologist, which he genuinely enjoyed. An avid gardener and one that enjoyed being outdoors as much as possible could only be interrupted in the fall to watch his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers. Lester was devoted to his family and treasured his relationships with others he met in the community. He was the loving husband of the late Elenetta R. Sparks for 57 years and cared for her for 15 years after she had a debilitating stroke. And he never missed a sporting competition that his son was involved with from public school through college. He is survived by his son, Stephen Hamrick; brother Garl Hamrick of WV and a sister, Patty Walker of Mansfield, OH. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Eugene, Gartsel and Doug Hamrick; and a grandson, Benjamin W. Hamrick. Wayne Jarvis

Age - 80

Wayne Roger Jarvis, 80, passed away peacefully at home on November 9,2023. He was born in Barberton, OH, but spent the majority of his life in Vienna, WV. Wayne was a son, brother, husband, Dad, Pappaw, and friend, but most of all he was a child of God. Wayne never hesitated to tell anyone and everyone about Jesus. Even up to the end of his life. He served in the Marine Corps for 4 years, and after 23 years with the US Postal Service, he retired as Postmaster at the Williamstown branch. But, he wasn't ready to quit working. Wayne went on to work for Bowles Rice for several years before deciding it was really time to retire. In his younger years, he and his wife, Janet, attended Summit Valley UM Church where he served as Sunday school teacher, youth leader, and deacon. They went on to attend First Assembly of God, Vienna Assembly of God, Little Hocking Church of God, and most recently Thrive Worship Center where he was an elder. Wayne leaves behind his wife, Janet McVey Jarvis, of 59 years and daughter, Stephanie (David) Thorn. His grandchildren who cherished their Pappaw: Jay (Malloree) Thorn, Dalton (Samantha) Coggeshall, Sheena (Jake) Frady, and David (Ashley) Thorn. He also had 3 great-grandchildren whom he adored: James Thorn, Milo Frady, and Adaleigh Coggeshall. In addition, he leaves behind brothers Mike (Karen) Jarvis and Bill (Gaye) Jarvis; sisters Sandi (Giles) Ragsdale, Pam Jarvis, Betty Jarvis, and Becky Anderson; sister-in-law Sharon Jarvis, and many beloved nieces and nephews, as well. Preceding him in death were his father and mother, Hartsell Jarvis and Avenell Kesterson Jarvis; brothers Gary, Jack and Alan; sister Linda, mother-in-law, Margie McVey; brothers-in-law, Brad Smith and Sam Anderson. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff of Housecalls Hospice and Dr. Vickie Cox and staff of Mid-Ohio Valley Medical Group for their loving care of Wayne. Services will be Monday 11:00 am at the Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor Bill Frey officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery North with military rites. Janet Louise Wilcoxen, 70, of Belpre, Ohio, died on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 13, 1952 in Parkersburg, WV to William and Betty Jane Cooper Horton. Janet was a 1970 graduate of Warren High School. She worked for Marietta Memorial Hospital in medical records for over 25 years. Janet was a member of Walnut Street Church of Christ in Belpre. She is survived by her husband, Harry Sam Wilcoxen, whom she married on September 1, 1984; daughter, Jessica Smith (Joseph); step son, Sam Wilcoxen (Sarah); step daughter, Dawn Misel (friend, Marc Mousseux); six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; brother, Butch Horton (Elizabeth); sister in law, Bonnie Beach; brothers in law, Jake Wilcoxen, Bob Wilcoxen and Sam Ashley; very close cousin, Gail Stewart (Donald); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p. m. on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Bartlett Cemetery, with Scott Rice officiating. Helen Carpenter Perry Howell, 93, departed this life on November 6, 2023when the Gates of Heaven opened for her. The glorious moment she hadanticipated for so long. Born Helen Carpenter, June 15 1930, Parkersburg, the first of sevenchildren born to Charles and Lena (Gumm) Carpenter. She attendedschool and Church as a youngster in Leachtown Community. She is survived by her six siblings. Helen was preceeded in death by her first husband Donald Perry, Wortburg TN and hersecond husband Richard Howell, of Parkersburg, as well as two grandchildren. Helen was an active member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and her specialHarvester Class for many years. She was a proud graduate of PHS, class of 1949. She was a homemaker until later in life when she worked for Dils Ford and lateras a clerk at the US Postal Service. She volunteered at her Church, Camden Clark,and the Salvation Army delivering meals to shut-ins for several years. Helen was awonderful example of living life well, as a faithful and humble servant to others. Helen is survived by her four children: Mike Perry (Cathy) of Dublin OH;Susan Swint (Bruce) of Wortburg TN; Kathy Stone (Bryan) of Evans WV;Lori Richards (Dave) of Parkersburg WV. Five grandchildren and four great grandchildren. And a very special sister Teresa Sovel, Mineral Wells. who spoiled her with love,adoration, flowers and chocolates.
