Hi Sook Sim, of Bel Air, MD, passed away on November 23, 2023. She was 90 years old. Mrs. Sim was born Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the United States in 1970. She was wife of the late Sang Yun Sim, beloved mother of Han Sup Yoo, Chul Sup Sim, Hi Sup Sim, and Tai Sup Sim, grandmother of ten grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and had five siblings. Mrs. Sim was dearly devoted to her family with hobbies of cooking, gardening and cleaning. She kept her house immaculate and clean, tidy, like a hotel room without a spot or wrinkle. Despite the difficult immigrant life she led, with long hours of hard labor, she always had time to spend in her favorite place, her kitchen. She was an excellent cook, creating out-of-the-world Korean dishes with such ease. Cooking was second nature to her. She loved when her children and grandchildren devoured her proudly created dishes, and no one left without being fed to the fullest. Although she was a small woman with small hands, she had a giant heart especially when it came to her children and grandchildren. Whenever someone was hungry, her small hands moved like magic in the kitchen; and no matter the time of the day nor what ingredients were available, the end results were always amazing. Her special dumpling rice cake in thick oxtail soup was always there to greet her family to start the fresh new year on New Year's Day. Everyone knew her strong personality and will. Whenever she made a decision, her family had to follow it without any exceptions. At times, her decisions did not seem to make any sense, but she somehow made it happen to achieve the end result she had planned. Because of her strong and mighty will, we are all here today doing what we are doing. We have tremendous appreciation for her and for being who she is. We hope she is well resting in peace as she deserves. A service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at 11:00 AM, at Zellman Funeral Home, P. A. , 123 S. Washington St. , Havre de Grace, MD. Interment will be held at Lakeview Memorial Park. Online condolences may be made at www. zellmanfuneralhome. com.Show more
