Marty passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2023, peacefully at his home surrounded by his family, after a short battle with lung cancer. Marty had a public servants heart. If you lived in Humphreys County, Marty most likely helped you in someway or another. He served Humphreys County proudly as a constable for just shy of 36 years. If you can't tell by now, Marty was a workaholic. He spent the last several years as a delivery driver for Southern Industrial Supply where he served "his" customers proudly, only retiring a few short months ago. Marty was also an avid music lover. He played several different instruments with many different bands over the years. Marty's most prized possession was his family and his six grandchildren. Tommy Crews

Tommy Crews

Age - 75

November 14, 2023

Tommy Lee Crews (75) affectionately known as PeeWee from Greenville, Ms. Passed away Thursday November 9th at Delta Regional Medical Center after several issues resulting from a fall. He was born March 22nd, 1948,in Blythesville Arkansas to Johnny Esco Crews and Myrtle Lee Barton Crews. He was raised in and around Grace and Glen Allan Ms. where he made lifelong friends. It's also where the meet the love of life in December 1969 Georgia Rita Crews. It took three tries to finally get her to the altar on February 11th, 1972, and even on their wedding day she wore a red velvet skirt with matching heels to remind him he was in for a lifetime of sass. Together they worked hard and built an amazing life to be proud of and had two daughters that were his pride and joy, Moronda Crews Stokes and Memorie Liane Crews Gaughf. He loved to brag on his daughters and all they did but most of all he liked to brag on the men they married and brought into his life; Charles Mark Stokes and Larry Deloin Gaughf Jr (Del). Tommy was meant to be a "girl dad". He taught them the things he felt they needed to know; change a tire, shoot a gun, work a drill, drive a stick way too young, all the things they needed to be independent and strong. But most important, he taught them how to laugh, stand up for your family and friends and not take life too seriously. But even more than being a "girl dad" he was born to be "granddaddy" to nine amazing grandchildren. Moronda and Mark gave him his first granddaughter Emily Ann followed by three more bonus granddaughters; Haley, Mary Catherine and Jada. Memorie and Del blessed him with his first grandchild and only grandson Tri and then two beautiful granddaughters Malorie and Alyvia. His deceased son Gregory Allan Raney and wife Cindyadded Samantha and Shayleen and they gave him his precious great granddaughters Kensley and Alora. He had a host nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews that were very special to him and so much a part of his day-to-day life. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Johnny Esco Crews and Myrtle Lee Barton Crews. His three brothers Charles Esco Crews, James Eugene Crews and Daniel Barton Crews. One son Gregory Allan Raney. Tommy was a man who worked hard and enjoyed his close circle of friends and family. Growing up in Grace and Glen Allan he formed friendships with men and women who are still apart of his life today and the lives of his wife and children. His daughters are so appreciative of those who reached out with quick condolences to his wife and strict instructions to let them know if their mom needed anything. Tommy was a Vietnam vet who was honored with National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, Marksman and Army Commendation Medal. He didn't talk about his time in the service much, yet he still somehow instilled in his family to respect and honor all armed forces who serve and protect our county. He wasn't much of a club man per say yet he was an active member of the Greenville Yacht Club, The Moose Lodge and the American Legion and we can not forget that while not a club there was always a seat and diet coke waiting for him at The Rack. The only thing he "needed" in life according to him was gas in truck, a diet coke and his wife in the passenger's seat while they drove the back roads of the Delta visiting the friends he loved, reminiscing and taking pictures of wildlife especially the eagles at Glen Allan. And when his wife wasn't in the passengers seat, he liked to find a quite spot on the levee or lake front, read his bible and take some moments alone just him and God. Tommy will be missed in a way that words could never express. Please join us for a final farewell celebrating Tommy Thursday November 16th at Mortimer Funeral Home. Visitation will be at 1:00 with services will follow at 2:00. Family and friends are invited to the home of Mark and Moronda Stokes 2156 Carol Street Greenville, Ms. for food and fellowship immediately afterword. Mortimer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.Show more
