Robert "Bob" Gene Crain, 77, of Pittsburg was born May 5, 1946, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Edward Robertson Crain and Mary Virginia Farley Crain He passed away on October 5, 2023 Mr Crain graduated high school and then furthered his education by attending Machinery Repairman School and Railroad Engineering School in Shreveport, Louisiana He also served his country in the United States Navy He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg and a very active member of the Gideons in Mt Pleasant and Camp County Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, but above all, spending time with his family and those he loved He is survived by his wife, Janice Knight Crain of Pittsburg; daughter and son-in-law, Julie Crain Jordan and David Jordan; grandchildren, Dillon Scott Jordan and his wife Randal of Whitehouse and David Ty Jordan and his wife Lani of Pittsburg; great grandchildren, Evie Mae Jordan and Margot Jordan; sister, Betty Crain of Pittsburg; sister-in-law, Lisa Crain of Pittsburg; his constant companion, Toro; and many nieces and nephews He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Robert Scott Crain, and brother, Charles "Charlie" Edward Crain Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a m Saturday, October 7, 2023, at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Pittsburg The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service Bro Joel Davis and Harold Kennington will officiate the service Pallbearers will be George French, Tommy Fink, Larry Copeland, Jim Waggoner, Cary John Efurd, Johnny French, Joey French, and Billy Taylor The family requests that memorial donations be made to The Gideons International, P O Box 97251 Washington, DC 20090-7251 and the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg

Rachel Ann Sorrells, 97, of Winters, TX (formerly of Pittsburg), passed away on November 22, 2023, at a Winters Assisted Living Center. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Mrs. Sorrells was born on June 26, 1926, in Pittsburg, to Frank Burke and Lila Reynolds Duckett. She was a teacher having earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Education from SFA University and taught High School Business Courses. Some of her hobbies included cooking, sewing, quilting, gardening, singing to her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Sorrells is survived by her daughter, Debbie Kemp; grandchildren, Rene Kemp Mullis, Bryan Kemp, Brad Kemp, Gaylynne Sorrells, Penney Christian, and David Sorrells. She is preceded in death by her husband, Billy Sorrells and son, Gary Sorrells. No formal visitation is scheduled.Show more

Jean Dehmlow

Mrs. Jean Thomas Dehmlow, was born March 4, 1935 to W. E. and Doris Miller Thomas in Daingerfield. She departed this world for her heavenly home to be in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November, 26, 2023. Jean graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1952, and attended Nursing School at Scott and White hospital in Temple, Texas. She later went back to college and received her Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist License. She worked in several East Texas Hospitals but primarily for what is known now as UT Health East Texas Pittsburg until she retired. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Pittsburg. She was proficient in American Sign Language and enjoyed interpreting the services for the hearing impaired. She loved her kids, and grandkids, and left them with wonderful memories. Memaw will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband, Don Dehmlow; her son and daughter, Wes Kirkham of Texarkana, Texas; and Tonia Stuard and husband Ronnie of Pittsburg, Texas; her siblings, Venita Smith of Pittsburg, Texas, W. E. Thomas Jr. of Spring, Texas, and Kathy Bruney of Kilgore, Texas; three grandchildren, Brittany Stuard, Jessica Kirby and husband Aaron, Chris Stuard and wife Amanda; and twelve great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Lauren, Trenton, Josiah, Ava, Lukas, Peyton, Cameron, Mason, Chapel, Micah, and Blakely. She is preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A. M. Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Pittsburg with Bro. Joel Davis, Bro. Randy Stuard, and Bro. Chris Stuard officiating with burial to follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Tommy D. was born in Pittsburg, Texas on July 30, 1957, to the parents of Tom Hopkins Jr. and Annie D. Hopkins. He confessed his faith in God at an early age and joined Pine Bluff First Baptist Church. Throughout his years of service, he participated in the youth choir, served as an usher and was a member of the board of trustees. He continued to be a faithful member until his death. Tommy D. graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1975. He was employed by Lone Star Steel that following November and remained a dedicated employee for 41 years. He later moved his employment to The City of Mount Pleasant water department for the last 5 years. He leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved wife, Nelda of 44 years; 3 children, Shaneque Hopkins of Longview, Texas, Chris Hopkins of Pittsburg, Texas and Keysha Hopkins of Dallas Texas; 2 grandchildren, Jordyn McCloud of Dallas, Texas and Skyler Hopkins of Mount Pleasant, Texas; sister, Barbara Burns of Pittsburg, Texas; brother, Calvin Hopkins (Angela) of Pittsburg, Texas; mother-in-law, Wanda Kennedy of Pittsburg, Texas; sister-in-law, Beverly Garrett (Troy) of Pittsburg, Texas; 2 loving godsons, Ja'Mir and Ja'Saiah Duffey of Pittsburg, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved him dearly. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home. Mr. Sims passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Wilburn (Papa) Sims was born December 28, 1936, in Dallas to Jessie Cleveland and Iva Lee Grimes Sims. He was a retired Dallas Firefighter and a member of the Methodist faith. Wilburn was a man of many talents. He enjoyed the outdoors and working in his shop. He took pride in his yardwork, winning Yard of the Month multiple times in Quitman, TX. He adored his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed attending A&M tailgates in College Station with his grandsons and spoiling his granddaughters. He was proud of his seven great-grandchildren and loved watching them run around and play. His smile was contagious. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Sarah Walker Sims of Pittsburg; son, Jessie Sims, and wife, Twyla of Longview; daughter, Pam Scheu, and husband, Mark of Cason; grandchildren Brandi and husband, Matt of Longview, Bryan and wife, Hannah, from Cason, Brittany and husband, Jake, of Longview, and Brandon and wife, Cheyenne, of Winnsboro; great-grandchildren, Levi, Carson, Quinn, Judson, Colton, River, and Jameson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He loved his children and grandchildren. Mr. Burns passed away November 3, 2023, at Pleasant Springs Healthcare Center, Mt. Pleasant, Texas. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances Duncan Arrington of Pittsburg, TX; daughter Shelley Arrington Longsworth and her husband Jay Longsworth of Rowlett, TX; grandchildren, Emily Longsworth, Landon Longsworth, Gianni Arrington, and Zachary Arrington; sister Carolyn Weems; and brothers Billy and David Arrington; also survived by numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was proceeded in death by his son Jeff Arrington; sister Sandra Marsh and brothers, Larry Arrington and Jett Arrington. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P. M.
