Paul Edward Webb, Jr. passed Away December 8, 2023. Paul was born on June 29, 1929, in Petersburg, Virginia to Paul Edward Webb and Anita Young Webb. He is finally reunited with his loving wife of 72 years, Charlotte Warren Webb, the woman who captured his heart and with whom he built a beautiful marriage and legacy. He joined her in Heaven the exact day she passed two years ago--a testament to their enduring love story. He is survived by three sons and their wives: Kenneth Warren Webb (Susan), Paul Edward Webb, III (Cheryl) and Douglas Young Webb (Renee) and one daughter, Deborah Webb Sanders. They describe him as the perfect role model, honorable, loving, and the ultimate gentleman. He is also survived by seven grandchildren: Douglas Gavin Webb (Liz), Jennifer Webb MacPherson (Evan), Christopher Bryce Webb (Katie), Paul Warren Webb, Shelby Webb Foltz (Zac), Kelsey Webb Percy (Spencer), and Brittany Anne Sanders (Tristin Blake). Paul and Charlotte have 16 great-grandchildren; fourteen boys, Bailey, Brylee, Auryn, Anlon, Brody and Tatum Webb; Landyn, Beckett, Rowen, Witten and Hudson Foltz; Drayson Percy; Paxton MacPherson; and Maverick Blake; and two girls, Gibson White and Scarlett Blake. Paul loved his family so incredibly much and was very proud of them all. Paul is also survived by his sister, Anita Webb Mays, whose relationship was as loving as it was special. Paul and Charlotte lived and raised their family in Ashland, Virginia for 19 years where Paul served as head basketball coach at Randolph-Macon College. In 1975, he and Charlotte moved to Virginia Beach where Paul served as the head basketball coach at Old Dominion University for 10 years and where he retired as the all-time winningest coach in the state of Virginia and sixth in the nation. Paul was inducted into seven athletic halls of fame including the Petersburg HS, College of William & Mary, Highland Springs HS, Randolph-Macon College, Old Dominion University, Hampton Roads, and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame. He also served as co-director of the Paul Webb Basketball Camps for 59 years. In his community, he was a member of Baylake United Methodist Church and Norfolk Sports Club for nearly 50 years. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. David Young and Wanda Hill for their special friendships and selfless caretaking. A visitation for friends and family will be held on Wednesday evening, December 13th, from 6:00 p. m. - 9:00 p. m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home at 1264 Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, Va. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 14th, at 2:00 p. m. at Baylake United Methodist Church at 4300 Shore Drive, Virginia Beach, Va. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall immediately after the service. A private burial service for the family will be held on Thursday morning.
