He started his railroad career in the baggage room of the Lackawanna Station. From there, he became a railroad fireman and advanced to engineer. Then Erie, and then finally Conrail, from which he retired in 1991. He was a member of the Maple Lake United Methodist Church, also associated with Spring Brook Congregational Church. Bob loved his family with his whole heart. Having been married almost 67 years, he and his wife Shirley shared a truly special relationship adored by all. Who Bob especially adored, however, were his grandchildren. With every moment spent with them, he never forgot to tell them how proud he was of them and their accomplishments. Among his favorite activities was attending family parties, which always left him with many laughs and fond memories, especially with his own children. His fun times weren't limited to family parties, however. His enthusiastic spirit even encouraged him to ride Disney rides in his 80s! He has filmed countless videos of these experiences, capturing many of his favorite moments of his grandchildren when they were little. Some of his other passions were listening to big band music and playing trombone, which he had done throughout his whole life. Apart from being a musician, he is also recognized as a life-long Yankees fan.
