Robert "Bob" H. Barry, aged 96, of Weymouth, passed away on October 4, 2023. Bob was born in Boston on September 20, 1927 to the late Beatrice Barry (Negrotti) and Henry Ellis Barry. He was the brother of the late Muriel Kizelewicz (Barry) and husband Benedict. Bob was raised and educated in South Boston and Dorchester. He was a graduate of Boston English High School, class of 1945. While in high school, he lettered in football, hockey and baseball. After high school, he went on to graduate from Burdett Business School and Bentley University. Bob proudly served in the United States Army. He was a World War II veteran and participated in Operation Crossroads. For his service, Bob received a World War II victory medal and a Pacific Theatre Ribbon. Bob worked for many years as a marketing representative for petroleum companies. In his free time he enjoyed watching and participating in all sorts of sporting activities. He coached hockey and pop warner football. Bob is survived by his beloved wife of sixty five years, Margaret Barry (Armstrong) of Weymouth and Glasgow, Scotland. He is also survived by his loving children Ann Marie Barry, of Natick, Dianne Barry, of Natick, and Robert Ellis Barry and his wife, Laura, of Plymouth. He was also loved by his grandchildren, Robert William Barry and Christopher Ellis Barry, and many nieces and nephews from the South Shore, Atlanta Georgia, New York and Scotland. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Bob, on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 9AM, in the CC Shepherd Funeral Home, located at 134 Pleasant St (Columbian Sq. ) Weymouth. A Funeral Mass will follow at 10AM in the Saint Albert the Great Church in Weymouth. Private burial to be held at the National Cemetery in Bourne. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the nurses of South Shore Hospital and of Southwood in Norwell. He shared 49 years of love and laughter with his beloved wife, Karen E. Parsons (Fahey). Together, they raised their children, Kerry E. Pontonio of Newton and Matthew R. Parsons of Abington, instilling in them the values of compassion and humor. His grandchildren, Dominic and Anthony Pontonio, will forever cherish the memories of their grandfather's funny stories and time spent with them. Dean's love extended to his siblings, David Parsons of Plymouth, Richard Parsons of Wells, ME. , and he fondly remembered his late brother Don Parsons and sister Caroline Cassidy. His role as a brother was filled with shared experiences and an unbreakable bond that remains a comfort to his family. An avid Boston sports fan, Dean's passion for the game was unmatched. He proudly held the title of a 40-year New England Patriots season ticket holder, celebrating each victory with the same enthusiasm as his first game. His competitive spirit shone brightly as he played for The Hawks, a Men's Softball Team in Dorchester, where he was not only a teammate but a beloved friend for many years. Those who knew Dean would describe him as funny, kind, and loving. His humor brought joy to every gathering. Dean's legacy is one of laughter, and love for his family and friends. Laura B. (Brann) Smith, age 97, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, in the comfort of her loving family. Laura was born in Hopedale, to the late Lysander A. and Ida May (Adams) Brann. She was raised and educated in Maine. Laura lived in Quincy for most of her life. Laura was employed as a waitress in the restaurant industry. She worked at the former Finian's and prior to that had worked at the former Oyster House, both in Quincy. She had been retired for many years. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her many flowers. Most of all, she was devoted to her family. She cherished time spent with them, and supporting the many activities and accomplishments of her grandchildren. Beloved wife of the late Frederick Smith. Devoted mother of Aubert Smith and his companion Susie of Dunnellon, Fla. , and the late Helen M. (Smith) Mackiewicz. Loving grandmother of Robert S. Young, Jr. , Laureen S. Elizabeth Ruth Turell (Croak), age 88, of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2023. Elizabeth was born, raised and educated in Boston, graduating from Archbishop Cushing Central High School in 1952. After high school she attended the Boston City Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated with a Bachelors in Nursing in 1955 and practiced nursing for over 40 years. Elizabeth married the love of her life, Robert in 1956, and the two moved to Weymouth in 1960 to raise their loving family. Elizabeth loved reading, sewing, quilting, knitting, crochet and all sorts of crafts. She enjoyed cruises and travelling with family and friends. She always loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was also very fond of "taking a ride" to Twin River and Foxwoods to gamble with friends. Elizabeth is predeceased by her beloved husband, Robert Turell. She is survived by her loving children, Maura Turell, of Quincy, and Jeffrey Turell and his wife Amy, of Dedham. Elizabeth was loved by her grandchildren Kyle, Samantha, Caitlyn, and Cameron. She will be missed by her brother, Paul Croak. Christina M. (Ryan) McKeon, age 96, a longtime resident of Quincy, died peacefully, Friday, December 1, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, in the comfort of her loving family. Christina was born in Boston, to the late Martin and Henrietta (Yourell) Ryan. Raised and educated in Dorchester, she was a graduate of the Jeremiah E. Burke High School for Girls, Class of 1944. She lived in Quincy for most of her life but had also lived in Rockland for several years. She was an insurance broker and had worked with her late husband, Jerry, with Agents Insurance Group in Braintree. Christina had over fifty years of service in the insurance industry. Christina loved to sing and enjoyed her time with the choir at Holy Family Church in Rockland. She was devoted to her family and friends and especially loved spending time at her summer camp in Lebanon, Maine for many years. Christina's greatest joy was watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. Beloved wife of the late Matthew G. "Jerry" McKeon. Devoted mother of Matthew J. Mary H. (McNamara) Cook, of Weymouth, formerly of Quincy and Dorchester, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. She was 90. Mary was born in Boston on October 7, 1933, and was the daughter of the late Aloysius T. and Margaret (Mahoney) McNamara. She was raised in Dorchester and attended local schools. In addition to raising her family, Mary held many positions throughout her life. She was a teacher's aide in Boston for nine years, the parish secretary for St. Ambrose for five years, and a volunteer for the Foster Grandparent Program in Quincy. Mary was the beloved wife of the late Charles E. Cook, who died in 1983. She was the devoted mother of Kevin C. Cook and his wife Terri of Pennsylvania, Stephen G. Cook of Quincy, Marybeth Moriarty and her husband James of Braintree, and Denise Olesen of Plainville and her former husband John Olesen of Andover. Mary was the loving grandmother of Stephanie, Meghan, Shane, Erin, Katie, Ashley and Samantha. She was the loving great grandmother of Leo, Molly, Coralie, and Lennon. Mary was the dear sister of Thomas A. McNamara and his wife Maureen of Quincy, Helene P. McNamara of Milton, Francis X. McNamara of Weymouth, the late Marjorie A. Campbell and sister-in-law of David S. Cook of Litchfield, NH. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Michael A. Russo, age 74, of Braintree, formerly of Quincy, died suddenly, Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, surrounded by his loving family. Michael was born in Quincy, to the late Angelo M. and Leonora (Varrasso) Russo. Raised and educated in Quincy, he was a graduate of Quincy High School, Class of 1967, and later received an Associate degree from Bridgewater State University. He lived in Braintree for six years, previously Quincy for most of his life. He was employed as a facilities manager for the CB Richard Ellis Group and maintained various Bank of America locations in the Greater Boston area for many years. Michael served in the United States Army as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Cyril P. Morrisette American Legion Post #294 in Quincy and was recently honored for fifty years of service. He was an avid Boston sports fan. Most of all, Michael was devoted to his family, especially to his children and grandchildren. He loved attending their games and sporting events and was proud of all their many accomplishments Beloved husband for forty-seven years of Deborah S. (Erickson) Russo. Devoted father of Michael A. Jacques, Anne Marie (Cicchese) of Weymouth, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2023. She was 90 years old. Born in 1933 in Weymouth, she was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Spallino) Cicchese. Anne was a compassionate, loving woman who put family above all else. She enjoyed Sunday dinners with her family and cooking traditional Italian meals, especially on Christmas Eve. She cherished spending time with "the cousins", traveling to Maine, and was an avid reader. She was a dedicated welfare case manager going above and beyond to support women and children in need. Anne was a devout Catholic with unwavering faith and a beautiful heart; embodying strength and resilience for whatever challenges came her way. She was a tremendous force of love in her sons' lives. She valued kindness to all, a true example to live by.
