Robert Lee Barnett, 66, of Leon, WV, passed away September 9, 2023, in Holzer Medical Center, Gallipolis, OH, following a brief illness. He was born June 16, 1957, in Point Pleasant, WV, a son of the late Earl Lawrence and Mary Mae (Thornton) Barnett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Barnett. He was a United States Navy veteran. He was a craftsman in woodworking by trade. Robert enjoyed gardening, was a loving father, and grandfather. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Sandra Leigh (Kainz) Barnett; son, Justin Earl Barnett of Ona, WV; daughter, Alissa Marie Barnett of Leon, WV; brothers, Dewey and Earl Barnett both of Leon; grandchildren, Riley G. Barnett and Carter H. Crump. He was also survived by many friends and neighbors he considered as his family. A celebration of life will be scheduled in the near future. Leo Ellen (Wayne) Wedge, 93, of Leon, WV, passed away peacefully at her home October 31, 2023. She was born January 9, 1930 in O'Brien, Calhoun County, WV the daughter of the late James French and Roena Ethel (Rogers) Wayne. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Charles W. Wedge; son, Ronald W. Wedge; brothers, Brooks, Dennis, Charles, and Robert Gale Wayne and sisters, Evelyn McGuire and Doris Workman. Leo was a past president and longstanding member of the Creston Ladies Aide, a volunteer for the Busy Fours 4-H Club and was a member of the Mercy Baptist Church. Survivors include her children, Beverly Denise Rardin (Jim) and Charles Stephen "Steve" Wedge (Debbie); grandchildren, Jennifer Hatten (Stephen), Josh Wedge (Amanda), Jessica Woofter (Jared), Jillian Jones (Austin), Jamie Rardin, Mitchell Wedge and Madison Wedge; great grandchildren, Bella Wedge, Russell Hatten, Maddox Woofter, Eli Wedge, Emery Woofter, Mila Jones and Jonah Woofter; daughter-in-law, Sonya Wedge; sister-in-law, Shirley Wayne; brother-in-law, Tom Workman and several nieces and nephews. Service will be 11 a. m. Saturday, November 4, 2023 at Casto Funeral Home, Evans, WV with Pastors Bradley Goodwin and Mike Elder officiating. Burial will follow in the Creston Cemetery, Evans, WV. Visitation will be from 10 a. m. until time of service at the funeral home. June Crookham Thomas, age 92, of Leon, WV passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her home in Leavittsburg, OH. She was born in Leon, WV on November 19, 1930, to the late Ray and Lena Beaver Crookham. She is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin K. Thomas; daughter, Kriss Anne Thomas; 3 sisters, and 4 brothers. June was born and raised in West Virginia, marrying her husband Franklin on November 24, 1951. She devoted her life to her faith and family. She was a member of Leon United Methodist Church, after moving to Leavittsburg, OH she attended the First Baptist Church of Howland. She enjoyed spending time with her children, and all her grandchildren. She was an avid Cincinnati Reds fan and enjoyed putting together jigsaw puzzles. She will be deeply missed by her family. June is survived by her son, Franklin K. Thomas, II and his wife Lisa, with whom she made her home; six grandchildren, Christy (Kevin) Christman, Michelle (Justin) Mobley, Jennifer (Elijah) Thomas, Derek (Niki) Fields, Katrina (Jess) Franks, and Kevin (Marci) Fields; 25 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren with another expected in October 2023; and several nieces and nephews. K. D. Hess, 53, of Leon, WV, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV. He was born April 9, 1969, in Ripley, WV, a son of the late Bert and Virginia (Miller) Hess. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Bert A. Hess. K. D. was currently employed by Mason County Schools as a Bus Operator with 15 years of service. He assisted at the Jackson County Fair as an announcer and was an active auctioneer. K. D. previously served on the Eleanor Fire Department and was an avid supporter of the Ravenswood and Mason FFA. He enjoyed farming on the Pioneer Ranch, riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles, hunting, and fishing. K. D. loved his kids, especially his little buddy, Braxton. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife of 19 years, Kelli (Pauley) Hess; children, James (Amber) Hess, Maliek (Chelsey) Holman, Eain Hess, David Hess, Braxton Hess, Aubree Hess, Megen Casto, Kerstin Ruiz all of Leon; brother, Frank (Paula) Hess of Leon; grandchildren, Daniel Mitchell, Michael Hess, Reign Hess, Caleb Hess, Kolt Hess, Jai'onna Hess, Ni' Klaus Hess and one on the way, Malakai; great-grandchild, Brantley Mitchell.
