"Robert Balll Jr. 90 was born in Yazoo, Mississippi, August 4, 1932. The only son born to Montess Carter and Robert Ball Sr. He lived in Detroit for several years prior to making Chicago, Illinois his permanent home. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Barbara Ball in 1979 and became a devoted stepfather through this union. He worked at Shure Electronics in Wheeling, Illinois for many years and retired from the world renowned Palmer House Hotel in 2001. He was a Golf aficionado, skilled and highly regarded by his peers for being a lead scorer in group tournaments. He entered eternal rest on Tuesday, April's, 2023, at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his father Robert Ball Sr. , mother Montess Carter, sisters Charlene McNeal (Wade), Alma McNeal Hill, brothers Charlie McNeal, Lloyd McNeal, Andrew Carter, daughter Viola D. Jones, stepdaughter Rachael Norwood and stepson Austrian Ryce. He is survived by his beloved wife Barbara Ball, brothers Melvin McNeal, Harry Williams, daughter Mary Alice (Nathaniel) Smith, Deloris (Roosevelt) Washington,Verlene Smith, and Regina (J. B. )Sheehan, step children Janice Ryce, Glenda Darden (Paul Darden), Matthew Ryce, Sandra Hassell, Roderick Ryce(Stephanie Ryce) and Wendy Smith (David Smith), 22 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, 7 great great great grandchildren, sister in law Ann Bentley, brother in law Thomas Parham , and Robert Willie and a host of nieces, nephew, family and friends.
