Robert Paul Abercrombie, 87, resident of Hill and Dale, husband of Patricia "Pat" Donnan Abercrombie, died Friday evening, September 8, 2023 at his residence. Mr. Abercrombie was born August 5, 1936 in the Sandy Springs Community of Laurens County, SC to the late Wilmer Peterson Abercrombie and the late Margaret Lois Cunningham Abercrombie. He was a 1954 graduate of Laurens High School and was a veteran who served his country in the United States Army being honorably discharged in 1965. He worked as a manager for Bowater International, retiring with over 40 years of employment. A devoted husband, father, and friend; Mr. Abercrombie was a member of South Main Baptist Church where he was a member of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class, formerly known as the Couples II Class. He was also the former president of the Mathews Lions Club, as well as a member and former board member of the Greenwood County Forestry Association. He was also a life member of the Greenwood Moose Lodge. Surviving in addition to his loving wife of 60 years are two daughters: Patrice Abercrombie Lineberger (Steven) of Clemson, SC, and Paula Abercrombie Cobb (Robert) of Greenwood; twin granddaughters: Lauren Patrice Linebeger of Stuttgart, Germany and Paiten Lineberger Angeles (Richmond) of Clemson; a sister, Margaret Ann Sumerel; a brother, Lewis Abercrombie, and a sister-in-law, Barbara Garrett Abercrombie all of Laurens. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William "Billy" Abercrombie, brother-in-law, Bert Sumerel, and sister-in-law, Emily Riddle Abercrombie. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Toby Frost, Rev. Andy Roberson, and Rev. David Dority officiating. Entombment will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park Mausoleum. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Adult 5 Sunday School Class and members of the Mathews Lions Club. The family is at the home in Hill and Dale and will receive friends for a visitation at the funeral home from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Tuesday evening, September 12, 2023. William Thomas "Dee Dee" Norman, 82, husband of Frances E. Norman of 112 Richard Street Greenwood, SC, entered eternal rest on December 3, 2023, at Hospice House and Palliative Care in Greenwood, SC. William was born March 27, 1941, to the late Gladys Norman Moss. He attended Greenwood County schools and served in the United States Army as well as the National Guard. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #629. He retired from Self Memorial Hospital in the Environmental Services Department. William was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Lee Norman. He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Frances, of the home, two goddaughters, Dorthea(Rodney)Lewis of Columbia, SC and LaKeisha A. "Carroll Jester Addy, 85, of Ninety Six, widower of Ellen Derrick Addy, passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023. Born in Saluda, he was the son of the late Ralph Stone Addy and Cleo Jester Addy. Carroll was in the SC National Guard and retired from Daniels Construction. He was an avid basketball fan and especially enjoyed cheering for the Tennessee Volunteers. He enjoyed fishing, also cooking fish and took great pleasure in sharing his culinary expertise with his friends and family. Carroll also had a green thumb and found solace in gardening vegetables which he proudly sold at Addy\u0027s Trading Post. He was a man who welcomed all with open arms and had an unwavering love for everyone he encountered. His genuine compassion and infectious smile touched the lives of many, forging lifelong friendships wherever he went. Carroll was a faithful member of New Market Baptist Church. Surviving is his fiancee Sheila Emery of Waterloo; a sister, Wanda Dumbar (Elton) of Pelion, SC; sister-In-law: Helen (Bill II) Hall of VA; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. Mrs. Sarah Lee Goode Blocker, 89, of 1421 Martin Towne Road, Ninety Six, widower of John H. "Tip" Blocker, transitioned from this life into eternal rest on November 29, 2023, at her home. Born in Ninety Six, she was the daughter of the late Alex Goode and the late Sallie Cain Goode. She was a member of Old Mt. Zion Baptist Church, the Missionary Ministry, the Women Aide Society #104, Past President of the Senior Ushers Ministry, and the last member of her Immediate Family. She was preceded in death by her four brothers: Lewis, Willie T. , Albert, and James Goode; three sisters: Mamie Goode, Beatrice Evans, and Iola Dunlap; and a great granddaughter, Rodacia Parks. She leaves to cherish her memories are four sons: Deacon John Blocker, Jr. (Janet), Alonzo (Shirley) Blocker all of Hodges, SC, Trustee Darrell Blocker of Ninety Six, SC, and Garrett D. Sandra Gail Mauldin Johnson, 68, resident of Forest Lane, wife of Nevit Yates Johnson Jr. , passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2023, at Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Born February 16, 1955, in Clinton, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Clayton and Dorothy Westmoreland Mauldin. She was a 1973 graduate of Laurens High School, and a 1978 graduate of The University of South Carolina Darla Moore with a Master of Business Administration in Business and Finance. Sandra retired from Upper Savannah Council of Government. She had a great love for Yates and her family. She took a special delight in her role as "Nana", and treasured her lifelong friends and colleagues. She was a former member of Second Baptist Church in Laurens, a Board Member of the Museum and Greenwood Railroad Historical Center, and was Master Gardener. Surviving in addition to her husband are two brothers, Michael Stephen Mauldin (Mary) and David Clayton Mauldin; a step-daughter, Christie Hansen; five grandchildren, Savannah Syke, Griffin Syke, Carsen Syke, Baylor Syke, and Gehrig Hansen. "Lawrence "Larry" F. Beagen, 85, of Ninety Six, husband of Gayle Chastain Beagen, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Born in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late Frances Beagen and Agnes Hearns Beagen. He pursued engineering and attained an associate degree from the University of Detroit. This education laid the foundation for a successful career as a production manager, where he dedicated four decades of his life to Capsugel. Upon retiring, Larry discovered a sense of happiness and comfort residing by the lake and engaging in the company of friends and loved ones. Additionally, he held a passion for playing golf, and was a respected member of both the Grand Harbor and Men\u0027s Golf Association. Impressively, Larry managed to achieve two hole-in-ones, making his mark on the golfing community. Larry was a devout Catholic. As a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church he exemplified his commitment to his faith and community by serving as an usher, a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, and a confirmation sponsor to many rising Catholics. His selflessness and dedication to serving others will be remembered as a true testament to his character. Larry demonstrated his love for his country by serving honorably in the United States Navy and the National Guard. He is survived by his wife, Gayle; children, Michael Beagen, Brian Beagen (Tammy), Colleen Beagen (Paul Griffith), and Patrick Beagen; stepson, Jody Patterson (Laurie); brothers, Dennis Beagen (Charline) and Thomas Beagen (Mary Jo); grandchildren, Larry (Allicia), Frank, Riley, and Brendan; step grandchildren, Chandler and Carter; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. "Rodney Daron Lipe, 39, of Greenwood, husband of Amy Nicole Lipe, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of Angela Marie Lipe Fleming. He worked for Scott Sorrow for fifteen years doing home improvement work, with painting being his specialty. In his spare time he enjoyed going hunting and fishing. Rodney was always surrounded by many friends and loved to make everyone laugh. His biggest "adventure" was jumping naked off the Lake Greenwood bridge and making the front page of the Index Journal. Above all else he was a good father, providing for his children and loved his family dearly.
