Rita M. McVay, formerly of Arcade, passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the Jennie B. Richmond Nursing Home in Springville at the age of 93. She was born on March 25, 1930 in Buffalo, NY and was the daughter of the late Gordon Arthur and Gertrude Lila (Brooks) Mitchell. She enjoyed watching her birds and wildlife, attending campfires and spending time with her family and pets. She was also a honorary member of the New York Draft Horse & Pony Club and she loved her desserts! Rita had worked on the assembly line at Fisher Price in East Aurora for 20 years until she retired in 1985. Her husband, Clare R. McVay who she married on June 19, 1954, passed away in 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Charlotte "Shug" (Gary) Sampson of Sandusky; her grandchildren: Patty (Newton) Cutler of Delevan and Mike (Lisa) Sampson of Arcade; her great-grandchildren: Edward "Eddie", Lindsey Marie and Makayla Colleen Cutler. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Friends may call on Monday, September 11, 2023 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the W. S. Davis Funeral Home, 358 Main St. , Arcade where a Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at 10am with Pastor Wayne Aarum officiating. Interment will follow in Yorkshire Cemetery. Nelson C. Ryan of Strykersville, NY passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw at the age of 72. He was born on August 3, 1951 in Buffalo, NY and was a son of the late Bernard and Genevieve (Hamm) Ryan. He loved music and was an avid guitar player. He also played hockey and softball in his younger years. Nelson was a Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bills fan and enjoyed fishing and watching his grandchildren play baseball. Nelson was a Correctional Officer for Groveland Correctional Facility. His first wife, Marilyn (Kowalczyk) Ryan whom he married in April 1970, passed away in 1995. He is survived by his children: Kelly (Shane) Carder of Java Center and Sean (Carrie Jacobson) Ryan of Buffalo; his grandchildren: Zack and Sam Carder; his wife, Karen (Green) Ryan of Mount Morris; his sister, Alice (late James) Skrczeckowski of Buffalo as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was also the brother-in-law of: Karen Ryan of Buffalo, Timothy & Christine O'Brien of St. Augustine, FL and Irene & Michael Speranza of Sykesville, MD. In addition to his parents and his wife, Marilyn, he is predeceased by his brother, Bernard Ryan. There will be no calling hours. Harliene J. Limburg, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Harliene Jane (Ellis) Limburg, passed away on Sunday, November 19, in Lancaster, NY at the age of 90. She was born on December 28, 1932, in Buffalo, NY. She was the daughter of the late Howard and Fayae (Joslyn) Ellis. On February 2, 1952, she married Milford "Willie" Limburg in Chaffee, NY. They lived for 54 years on Curries Road in Arcade, NY where their home was filled with many family gatherings. Every holiday was a special event filled with good times and lots of food. Family camp outs were also important events that always featured Mom's (Harliene's) famous potato salad. After Willie's death, she lived with her daughters in Olean/Allegany, NY; Boynton Beach, Florida; Bliss, NY; Bluebird Hill, and Lancaster, NY. She enjoyed reading about history as well as historical novels. In her later years she returned to her love of art, painting in both watercolor and acrylic. She is survived by six daughters, Sandra (David) Junkin of Bliss, NY, Deborah (Jonathan Woodworth) Limburg of Olean, NY, Christene (Scott) Elliott of Caneadea, NY, Jacqueline (the late Robert) Squires of North Carolina, Patricia (Lawrence Lipiarz) Ewel-Lipiarz of Lancaster, NY and Donna (the late Randy Pierce) Limburg on East Aurora, NY; also survived by 16 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, Willie, who passed away on February 25, 2006, Harliene was preceded in death by a brother Kenneth (Velma) Ellis and a sister Gloria (Ernest) Killingbeck. Milton F. Pierce of Arcade and formerly of Sardinia, NY passed away on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Olean General Hospital at the age of 91. He was born on February 8, 1932, in Elma, NY and was a son of the late Kenneth G. and Sarah Eleanor (Higgins) Pierce. He was a United States Army Korean War Veteran and served from 1949-1952. He was also a member of the St. Aloysius Church in Springville. He also liked motorcycles and was a member of the American Motorcycle Association. Milton was a retired Sales Manager at Koike Aronson in Arcade where he was employed for 37 years. His wife, Vera (Blackmon) Pierce, whom he married on March 27, 1954 in Franklinville, NY passed away on March 5, 2019 He is survived by his children: Kathleen (Charles) Onan of Farmington, NY, Yvonne (Robert) Smith of Delevan, Debra (Tom) Pawinski of South Wales and Karen (Doug Wheaton) Ivon of Palmersville, TN; his sister-in-law, Leah Pierce of Sardinia; also survived by six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings: Donald (Ellen) Pierce, Erroll Pierce, and Marjorie (Lee) Blackmar. There will be no prior visitation. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, December 1, 2023 at 11am at the St. Aloysius Church, 190 Franklin St. , Springville where Rev. Daniel Fawls will officiate. Keith D. Kersch of Java, NY passed away on November 1, 2023 at the Charlotte House in North Java at the age of 73. He was born on April 30, 1950 in Warsaw, NY and was a son of the late Albert and Onalee (George) Kersch. He was the owner and operator of Kersch's Collision in Java Center. Keith enjoyed hunting, golfing and baseball. He had formed and coached a T-ball league at his former residence on Beaver Meadow Road. He continued coaching throughout his life even through retirement where he and his wife were spending the winters in Florida. He was an active member of the former St. Patrick's Church in Java Center where he held several positions and was active with the planning board for the Town of Java. He was also a United States Army Vietnam Veteran where he served from 1969-1971. He is survived by his wife, Donna (George) Kersch whom he married on July 6, 1973 in Java Center; his children: Aaron (Darlene) Kersch of Nolansville, TN, Daniel (Paola) Kersch of Amherst, Dale (Jennifer) Kersch of Arcade and Lindsay (Jason) George of Arcade; his siblings: Sandra Kersch of Arcade, Donald Kersch of North Java, Thomas (James Amigone) Kersch of Kenmore, Aloysius Kersch of Arcade, Bruce (Shannon) Kersch of Davenport Center, NY, Sarah (Wayne) Pluta of Honeoye Falls and Jonathan (Peg Gilbert) Kersch of North Java; also survived by 13 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Thomas E. Conrad of Freedom, NY passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center in Machias at the age of 82. He was born on December 11, 1941 in Buffalo, NY and was the son of the late Eugene and Irene (Wolniewicz) Conrad. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Arcade and he loved his God. He was always praying and singing hymns of praise. He was also a past member of the Knights of Columbus. Tom was a Corrections Officer for the Collins Correctional Facility and was previously a cattle breeder of Eastern Breeder. He is survived by his wife, Carol (Peterson) Conrad whom he married on February 2, 2003 in Freedom, NY; his children: Matthew (Tabitha) Conrad of Delevan, Heather (Christopher) Sikorski of Machias and Heidi (Robert) Wainwright of New Port, VT; his step-children: David (Nancy) Helmich of Freedom and Jennifer (Chadd) Bishoff of Freedom; his sister, Patricia (late Tom) Harris of North Augusta, SC; also survived by 10 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his step-son, Joseph Helmich, Jr. There will be no calling hours.
