Rita Hanson Obituary

Mrs. Rita Marie (LaReaux) Hanson, age 84, a longtime resident of Danvers who grew up in Lynn, passed peacefully on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 in Beverly Hospital with her family at her side. Rita was the beloved wife of the late Gardner "Gus" Hanson. She was born in Lynn on July 8, 1938, the daughter of the late Orrin LaReaux and of the late Lawrence and Rita (Gaynor) Sullivan. She was employed for many years and retired from the General Electric River Works. Rita was a loving wife, sister and aunt. Rita is survived by her sister Janice LaReaux Leighton and her husband Jack with whom she resided in Danvers and her beloved Schnoodle, Gus. She was the favorite aunt of her niece and nephews Richard LaReaux of Saugus, Debbie LaReaux Fravey of North Port, FL, Scott Smith of Minnesota, and Todd of Danvers. She was also the bonus aunt of John Leighton and Tim Leighton. Rita was the cherished sister of the late Carol LaReaux Smith and Harvey "Chuck" LaReaux. Rita's family is planning to celebrate her life in a private ceremony at a later date. In memory of Rita please give flowers to someone you love.
