Eleanor Florence (Parsons) Copeland was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt and friend. She left this world for her heavenly reward on December 2nd at the age of 87 surrounded by her family. She was born to Lawrence and Etta Parsons on August 22nd, 1936 in Pennsville, Ohio. Graduating High School she was the Salutatorian of her class. She lived in Malta, Ohio where she raised her 3 sons with her husband Richard Copeland. She attended church at Malta Baptist Church. She loved the Lord and enjoyed listening to gospel music and spending time baking cookies with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Lawrence Parsons and Etta (McDaniel) Parsons, husband Charles Richard Copeland, son David Allan Copeland Sr. , brothers Elmer Corwin Parsons, Mahlon Parsons and sisters Avalon Young, Velma Scott. She is survived by her sons Rex "Buck" (Lynn) Copeland of Malta, Michael (Jean) Copeland of Malta, daughter-in-law Donna Copeland, like a daughter Lura Parsons, grandchildren David (Anna) Copeland of Thornville, April Copeland of Malta, Dennis (Carolyn) Copeland of Malta, Cy (Heidi) Copeland of Malta, Adam (Nicole) Copeland of Malta, Brooke (Nathan) Kaufmann of Shelby, Vicky (Joe) York of Malta and 17 great grandchildren. She leaves behind several nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Friends may call Wednesday, 11-1 at Malta Bible Church in Malta, where services will follow at 1:30 pm with Cy Copeland and Adam Copeland officiating. Delmer Howard McCormick, 92, of Crooksville (Deavertown), Ohio passed away at 8:45 PM, Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville following an extended illness. He was born November 23, 1931 in Sumerco, West Virginia, the son of the late Kin W. and Mel Vina (nee: Adkins) McCormick. Delmer was a retired truck driver for Matlack Trucking in Pataskala, a former driver for Hennes Trucking and R. S. Trucking and was the former owner of the Putnam Tavern. He was a wood worker and enjoyed making furniture and many other wooden items. Delmer could fix anything. He loved farming, raising Black Angus cattle. Delmer was a US Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a life member of VFW Post 9090, a member of Roseville Legion Post 71 and he attended Deavertown Methodist Church. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Left behind to mourn his passing is his beloved wife of 64 years, Betty J. (nee: Ott) McCormick; his children and their spouses, Christy and Joe Krinn, Robin 'Rob' and Amy Hall, Howard M. McCormick (Barb Tyson), Richard and Angie McCormick and Cheryl and Royce Susil; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his dog, Buddy. In addition to his parents, Delmer was preceded in death by his siblings, Harold, Tom, Buster, William and Clyde McCormick and Betty Campbell. Dorothy M. Shriver, born on September 23, 1934, died on November 29, 2023. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Rachel and Forest Parmiter; her mother- and father-in-law, Erville and Ora Shriver; her husband, Richard Shriver; her brother, Dewey Parmiter; and her son, Rick Shriver. She is survived by her grandsons, Adam (and Jody) Shriver and their children Abigail and William of Pennsville, and Evan (and Kayla) Shriver and their children Isabella and Emily of Somerset; her daughter-in-law, Connie Shriver of McConnelsville and by her cat, Harry. Other relatives Dorothy wished to mention include her cousin Dennis Hann, Clint and Angie Shriver and sons Hunter, Hayden and Gavin, Shane Shriver, and Amanda Shriver. Dorothy owned her cleaning service "The Cleaning Ladies" for over 40 years. She also enjoyed "clowning" with her friends, Pat Border and Marna Hyatt at events and parades over many years. She worked alongside many other volunteers to establish and maintain the Christmas Lights in McConnelsville. She was instrumental in planning the Annual M & M Alumni Banquet for decades and enjoyed working with her classmates and other school alumni. Dorothy hosted several foreign exchange students throughout the years. She enjoyed learning about different cultures, and two of these students, Henrik (and Heidi) Verjup of Denmark and Jennifer (and Maykel) van Londen-Fries of The Netherlands became members of the family, frequently returning to Morgan County to visit. For all but two years of her life, Dorothy lived on Willis Hill Farm where she raised sheep, cattle, chickens, and hogs. Over the years her neighbors became a second family. Mike and Kim Hanson, Jean Glenn, Kay Bookman, and Karen Huffman just to name a few. They and some of her other close friends including Bill Kester, Gordon Ashton and Teresa Carnes could often be found spending time on Dorothy's sunporch swapping stories. She was a life-long caregiver her entire life. She cared for family members who lived on the Willis Hill Farm and spent her entire life caring for her brother Dewey. Dorothy was a member of Neelysville Grange, the McConnelsville Eagles, and the Mystified Mothers Club. She was a lifelong Democrat, supporting many campaigns and even serving on the Democratic Central Committee herself for a time. She also enjoyed watching her son Rick play music with many talented musicians over the years, traveling all over Ohio to Wheeling, WV and even in Nashville, TN. The family wishes to thank all of the kind and compassionate nurses and staff from Shrivers Hospice, who cared for her in her final months. Hazel Cathy Ball 89, of McConnelsville went to be with the Lord at 8:51 a. m. November 15, 2023 at Highland Oaks Health Center in McConnelsville. She was born May 20, 1934 in Clintonville, W. Va. The daughter of the late Frelen Shortridge and Katherine Keiffer Shortridge. She was a member of the Malta United Methodist Church. She is survived by her children, Donna Rainer of Beverly, Lana Carol (Theo) Robinette of McConnelsville, Patricia Myers of Blue Rock; grandchildren, Randy Montgomery, Patrick Myers, Areena Myers, Nikki Montgomery and John Hall; great grandchildren, Michael Rainer, Jaelynn Geiger, Jaedamae Geiger, Anthony Reed, Shaliah Howard, Chris Howard, Sean Reed, Damon Myers and Jaemarion Geiger; great great grandchildren, Mia and Luna Williams; sisters, Christine Hayden, Rosemary Howat, Jane Joy, Martha Phillips, Connie Shortridge, Janet Blankenship and Diane McKinley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Ball; one sister, Jeanie Algeo; and brothers, Robert, Raymond, Daniel and Bill Shortridge; two sons in laws, Claude Rainer and Dale Myers; and a granddaughter, Polly Rainer. Margaret Fuller Hardesty of McConnelsville, passed away on October 24, 2023 at the age of 104. She went to be with the Lord while peacefully resting at home surrounded by her family. She was born March 6, 1919 in Union Township, Morgan County to the late Otis Fuller and Ollie Clements Fuller. Margaret graduated from Ringgold High School, then attended Bliss College, Columbus Ohio. In 1942 she returned to McConnelsville and was employed as Deputy Clerk of Court and later Malta National Bank. She married her wonderful husband, R. Galen Hardesty on February 16, 1947. After 59 wonderful years of marriage, Galen passed away on June 8, 2006. Margaret was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Valley Chapter # 19 Eastern Star, Neelyville Grange, Morgan County Farm Bureau and Bristol Missionary. She is survived by three daughters, Janet (John) Wilson, Donna (Mike) Chitti, Brenda (Dick) Dalrymple; and one son, Ron Hardesty; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. In addition to her parents and husband passing, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Pauline Ray and her infant twin, Christine, Eleanor Heil; and a brother, Robert L Fuller; a sister-in-law; and three brothers-in-law.
