Robert James Nance, 51, of Beattyville, KY, went to be with the Lord on September 3, 2023. He was born to the late Chester Nance, Sr. and the late Tressie Manns Nance Kocher in Albion, Michigan on January 13, 1972. Robert passed away in Bourbon County, KY while under hospice care. He is preceded in death by his parents, Chester Nance, Sr. , and Tressie Manns Nance Kocher and two sisters, Ruth Ann Nance and Mary Nance. Robert is survived by three brothers, Joe Nance, Beattyville, KY, Jacob (Michelle) Nance, Fort Walton Beach, FL and Chester (Trish King) Nance, Paris, KY; three sisters, Margaret (Scott) Perry, Paris, KY, Ruby Fryman, Cynthiana, KY and Madeline (Sally Jo Whiles) Harney, Cynthiana, KY; several nieces, nephews and cousins; as well as his pet orange cat named, Phoenix, that he loved and cared for. Robert was an avid collector of comics, comic figures, enjoyed planting flowers and loved his family very much. The family wants to give a special thank you to the care facility, Sugar Camp in Beattyville, KY, it meant so much to Robert. Thank you, James, Tim and Rodney, for all the wonderful care. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:30 AM Saturday September 9, 2023, at the Lusk-McFarland Funeral Home 1120 Main St. , Paris, KY. Burial to follow in the Paris Cemetery, Paris, KY. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM Saturday September 8, 2023, until the hour of service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joe Nance, Chester Nance, Jacob Nance and Brandon Nance. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonas Nance, Justin Perry, Owen Perry, Tayvonne Williams, Tayshawn Williams, Travis Nance, and Bradley Nance. Rick Homan, 65, of Beattyville, Kentucky and formerly of Blanchester, Ohio, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father Hubert Homan; an infant sister, Kim Homan; his parental grandparents, John and Lillian Homan; and his maternal grandparents, George and Catherine Romohr. Rick is survived by his mother, Kay Homan of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers, Tim (Jen Woodland) Homan of Maineville, Ohio and Jeff (Lisa) Homan of Blanchester, Ohio; nieces and nephews, Curt (Kristen) Homan, Steve (Shelley) Homan, Diana (Cory Jeffries) Homan, Kristy (Arjun Jani) Homan, Lilly Homan, and Mallory (Quintyn Greer) Homan; several great nieces and nephews. Rick lived in the Winchester and Beattyville, Kentucky area for over 30 years and developed a great friendship with Bill and Marilyn Stamper and Don Bridges. He graduated from Clinton Massie High School in 1976. He served in the U. S. Army Combat Engineers from 1979 to 1982. Rick worked at Contech in Winchester, Kentucky for over 20 years. He was a devoted son to his mother and father. Rick drove over six hours to and from Beattyville, Kentucky every other weekend to visit and help his parents for over 30 years. He loved his freedom and to be outside in the hills of Kentucky. Rick would frequently go hunting with Bill Stamper, hike and walk. He also enjoyed golfing. Rick had a standing tee-time every Wednesday to golf with his friend, Don Bridges year-round. Rick will be remembered by his family and friends as a man of very few words, but a big heart. If you ever needed help, he would always be there, and he never asked for anything in return. Rick was passionate about reading his entire life; therefore in lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made, in his name, to the Clinton County Literacy Foundation, 88 Country Manor Dr, Wilmington, Ohio 45177 and/or a library of your choice. A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Monday, May 1, 2023, at Tufts Schildmeyer Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. , Blanchester, Ohio, where friends will gather from 11am until the time of service. James A. Reece (better known as Jim), age 86, of Beattyville, Kentucky departed this life on Friday, February 10, 2023 at his home. Jim was born on January 9, 1937 in Williamsburg, Kentucky to the late Acie and Gracie Reece. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Stanley Reece, Don Reece, Christine Faulkner, Norma Jean Hoskins, Emanuel Reece, and Juanita Hoskins. He was a retired custodian at a factory, and he sometimes attended Mt. Olive Free Pentecostal Church before he became too ill. James is survived by his wife, Joan Reece; daughter, Diana Nightingale and husband Mark'; son, James Robert Reece and wife Sharon; grandchildren, Shrya Nightingale, Hunter Nightingale, and Samuel Ritchie and wife Cynthia; great grandchildren, Brayleen Ritchie, Makenna Ritchie, and Natalie Ritchie; sister, Audrey Bloodworth; many nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing. Visitation will from 11:00 AM until the Funeral Hour on Monday, February 13, 2023 at the Mt. Olive Free Pentecostal Church, 5173 Highway 52 West, Beattyville, Kentucky 41311. Robert "Bob" Crane McKinney, age 85, of Pikeville, Kentucky passed away Saturday June 24, 2022 at the home of his son in Beattyville, Kentucky. Bob was born in Fleming, Kentucky November 20, 1936 the son of the late Robert Cromwell McKinney and Christine Crane McKinney Cobb. He was a retired educator with the Pike County school system being a teacher and a guidance counselor. Bob preached throughout Churches of Christ for fifty years being baptized into Christ June 1, 1960 at Main Street Church of Christ in Pikeville, Kentucky, and went on seven foreign mission trips to serve Christ. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Christine Sweeney. Bob's survivors include; his wife of 62 years, Anna Taylor McKinney, who were married June 1960, his son Robert Crane McKinney II and his wife Cheryl who live in Beattyville, Kentucky, his daughter Tammy LeAnn Imel and her husband Justin of Huston, Texas, four grandchildren, Robert Crane McKinney III and his wife Christa, Chelsea Cooper and her husband Chase, Randall Justin Imel II, and Wilson Cromwell Imel, his four great grandchildren, Colton Crane McKinney, Hunter James McKinney, Braxton Lee McKinney, and Cayde Allen Cooper. The active pallbearers will be; Robert Crane McKinney II, Robert Crane McKinney III, Wilson Imel, Jason Taylor, Jeff Holbrook, Jerry Read, Keith Slone, and Johnny Stiltner. Honorary Pallbearers are the Main Street Church of Christ Family. Visitation begins at 12:00 Noon Saturday June 25, 2022 at J. W. Call and Son Funeral Home. The funeral service will be at 4:30 P. M. Lawerance R. Gross Sr. , age 81, passed away on Sunday, December 26, 2021 at Paulding County Hospital. Lawerance was born on November 5, 1940 in Beattyville, Kentucky to the late Clayton and Verna (Callahan) Gross. On August 5, 1960 he married Beverly Giesken, who survives. In 1990 after 30 years, Lawerance retired from International Harvester as a large truck repairman. He was a devoted member of Restoration Tabernacle Church in Defiance. Lawerance is survived by his children: Lawerance Gross, Jr. , Antwerp, OH; Mark (Carole) Gross, Paulding, OH; Robert (Cathy) Gross, Paulding, OH; Pamela (Robert) Gardner, Paulding, OH; siblings: Raymond (Gracie) Gross, Dorothy Throne, Virginia (Ernie) Dickey, Winston (Rita) Gross, Lowell (Teresa) Gross, Gar (Carol) Gross, Sally Gross, Steven (Wanda) Gross, Sandi (George) Metz; grandchildren: Lawerance Gross III, Alexandrea Gross, Aaron (Sarah) Gross, Spencer (Stephanie) Gross, Preston Gross, Sara (Gunther) Gerschutz, Kyle Gardner, Kyle (Lindsay) Sunday; great grandchildren: Asher, Gatlin, Carson, Kameron, and one on the way. Lawerance is also preceded in death by his sister, Christina Corwin, two infant brothers, and granddaughter, Ashley Messmann. Services will be held at 11:00 A. M. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Paulding Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Janet Strickland officiating. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Paulding, OH. Visitation will be 4:00 P. M. - 8:00 P. M. on Monday, January 3, 2022 at Den Herder Funeral Home. There will also be visitation from 10:00 A. M. until time of services on Tuesday at the church.
