Mother Flora T. Mobley Green was born March 13, 1928, in Coatesville, Pennsylvania. She was the youngest of three children born to the late Walter and Ella Mae Jennings Mobley. She was affectionately called "Aunt Sis" by her family and friends. Aunt Sis grew up in a loving family and received her early education in the Coatesville Area Schools. In her early days, she was employed by Marionette Mills as a sewing machine operator. Aunt Sis married John I. Green, Jr. on November 23, 1950. He was a United States Navy Veteran who served during World War II. Together they shared 43 years of marriage until he passed away on April 16, 1993. Aunt Sis was a long-time faithful member of First Calvary Church of God in Christ. There she served in various auxiliaries and areas of leadership including the Mothers Board, Sunday School Superintendent, Church Sexton, Senior Choir, Combined Choir, the Usher Board, and Kitchen Committee. Over the years, she found joy in organizing and preparing the annual Easter and Christmas programs. Aunt Sis was an avid Philadelphia Phillies fan. She enjoyed bowling, playing bingo, knitting, crocheting, cooking, and solving word search puzzles. She had a contagious sense of humor and a competitive spirit. She was young at heart and enjoyed spending time with her great nieces and nephews, who kept her laughing. Aunt Sis looked forward to Sunday dinners with her family, Monday night family prayer, and Tuesday night Bible study. Aunt Sis loved to help people. It brought her great joy to assist others who were in need. She loved the Lord and loved to sing His praises. "Are You Ready" was one of the songs she would sing. Her favorite scripture was, "In everything, give thanks. . . " 1 Thessalonians 5:18. After a brief illness, Aunt Sis was called from labor to reward on November 2, 2023. She was 95 years young. In addition to her husband, John I. Green; she was preceded in death by two brothers, Douglas L. Mobley, and Pastor James W. Mobley; sister-in-law, First Lady Rebecca R. Mobley; nephews, Samuel L. Thompson, and Benny L. Felder. She is survived by her nieces, Karen C. Mobley, Harriet Mobley and Ella Marie Mobley, all of Coatesville; Roberta "Woodie" Scott (Pastor Wayne Scott) of Lancaster and a host of great nieces and nephews; special cousins, Mother Alberta Alston of Coatesville, PA and Dea. Fred Thomas of Chicago, IL; special friend Deac. Judy Brown and a host of other relatives and friends. Aunt Sis was a kind-hearted woman who touched the lives of many with her generous spirit, smile, and laughter. Her love for her family was evident in everything she did, and she will be deeply missed. Homegoing Services will be held at 4 PM on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, 819 Coates Street, Coatesville, PA. A viewing will be held beginning at 2:00 PM until the service time.
