Richard Kerry Winter, 54, of Warren, stepped into heavenly realm to be with his Father God and Lord Jesus Christ on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. He entered this life on June 15, 1969, in Beaumont, to Martha Landis Winter and Terry Winter. Survivors include his daughter, Faith Keri-Jean Winter; stepdaughters, Madi Hayes and her husband, Daniel, of Warren; Taylor Winter of Maryland; and Ashley West and her husband, Wesley, of Buna; grandchildren, Jaxson, Teagan, and Dani; mother, Martha Winter; aunts and uncles, Wilma and Robert Langston, Becky and John Landis, and Juanita and Orval Landis, all of Kountze, Tom Fetters of Pflugerville, Judy and Ed Valley of Van Buren, Arkansas, Phyllis Glasgow of Livingston, and Nancy Glasgow of Connecticut; and numerous cousins and other family and friends. He is preceded in death by his father, Terry Winter; grandfather, Fred Landis; and grandmother, Clara Landis. A gathering of Richard's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a. m. , with his funeral service at 11:00 a. m. , Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Broussard's, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Henrietta "Tot" Askew, who left this earthly realm peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at the age of 75. Tot was born on March 13, 1948, in Gist, to T. D. and Virlle Smith. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her husband, Kenneth Askew, for fifty-seven years and together they created a wonderful family of two children. In addition to her role as a wife and mother, Tot was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Silsbee. Tot also had a love for cooking and anytime her beloved grandchildren requested, she would prepare whatever they wanted. According to them, Nannie's was the best! Nannie will always be remembered for her unwavering love and devotion to her family. She was the strongest woman we've ever known. She was a huge supporter of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and her memory will be cherished by all who know her. Tot is survived by her husband, Kenneth Askew; two children, Kenetha Woods and Lynn Askew and his wife, Diana; five grandchildren, Josh Woods and his wife, Jamie; Tiffany Gates and her husband, Justin; Haley Cook and her husband, Joseph; Dalton Askew and his wife, Madison; and Dawson Askew and his wife, Brooke; seven great-grandchildren, Kayla and Abigail Woods; Weston, Luke, and Ace Gates; Addison and Sawyer Cook; and one sweet baby girl on the way. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters, Charles Smith, MaryAnn Meaux, Elma Williams, and Archie Smith. Tot was preceded in death by her parents, T. D. and Virlle Smith and her brother, Michael Smith. Tot will be dearly missed by all who knew her. A celebration of her life will begin at 9:00 a. m. , with her funeral service at 10:00 a. m. , Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at First Pentecostal Church, 1420 North 5 Street, Silsbee. Her interment will follow at Antioch Cemetery, Buna, under the direction of Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Rejoice in Heaven, Momma. We love you. You are already greatly missed. Josephine Ann "Jo Ann" Oubre Huard passed peacefully on December 2, 2023, just hours before her 91 birthday. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her love of gardening and her love of family and friends. Jo Ann was born in Port Arthur, Texas, on December 3, 1932, to Whitney and Amy Oubre. She attended Bishop Byrne High School and was a loving mother to her four children, nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. In her later years, she married Claude Huard. They enjoyed a vibrant life of retirement in Hot Springs, Arkansas, where they were active in the Elks Lodge. Jo Ann lived her life to the fullest. She learned to paint and play the clarinet after retirement. Additionally, she served on the welcome committee for her Hot Springs community, was active in her Episcopalian Church and maintained a beautifully landscaped yard. Upon the death of her beloved husband in 2015, Jo Ann returned to Texas to be near to her children. She is survived by her sister, Phylis Oubre Dunn and husband, Roy, of Bridge City, Texas; daughters, Diane Braquet Bertrand and husband, Roland, of LaBelle, Texas; Melissa Braquet Womble and husband, Bobby, of New Braunfels, Texas; and Brenda Braquet Wilber and husband, Scott, of Hamshire, Texas; and her son, John Kyle Braquet and wife, Belinda, of Willis, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents, Whitney Oubre and Amy Decuir Oubre and husbands, Calvin Braquet, Buddy Wilber, James Brabham and Claude Huard. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A special thanks to the staff at Pelican Bay Assisted Living Community and Gentiva Hospice for loving and caring for our mother. Kathleen "Kathy" Ellen Geiger, 75, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on November 27, 2023. Kathy was born on October 1, 1948, in Sioux City, Iowa, and was the youngest child of Francis and Pauline (O'Connell) Kirsch. Kathy was raised on a farm outside of Hornick, Iowa, and showed animals for 4H. She played the clarinet and was involved in various school activities until graduating from Westwood High School in 1966. After graduation from Wayne State College with a bachelor's degree in education, she moved to Vinton, Iowa, to be a Braille teacher at the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School. Kathy didn't know anything about Braille when she was hired, but teaching Braille to visually impaired students became her lifelong passion. Her daughter, Amy Ellen, was born on November 3, 1981. In 1988, Kathy and Amy moved to Beaumont, Texas, and she worked for Region V Education Service Center teaching blind and visually impaired students until her retirement in 2008. Kathy mentored several new Braille teachers and would do contract work by helping with Braille teaching materials. Kathy loved to read, travel, have lunch dates with her friends, cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes, playing games on her phone, having long conversations with her daughter and grandchildren, and watching the granddaughters' school events. Even if she couldn't be in South Dakota where Amy lives, she would watch the events on YouTube. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Amy (Johnathon) Lockett of New Holland, South Dakota; three granddaughters, Angelina, Jacqueline, and Olivia Lockett of New Holland, South Dakota; brother, Franklin Kirsch of Lacey Spring's, Alabama; sister, Francine McGregor of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, and numerous friends. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Pauline Kirsch; former in-laws, Lynn and Marion Geiger; and brother-in-law, William McGregor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Kathy's name be donated to the charity of preference. A gathering of Ms. Geiger's family and friends will be from 10:00 a. m. until 12:00 p. m. , Saturday, December 9, 2023, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium, Beaumont. Her graveside service will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Willow Township Cemetery in her hometown of Hornick, Iowa.
