Oct 20, 1951 - Sept 9, 2023 Richard F. Weakland, 71, of Duncansville, passed away Saturday. He was born in Spangler, son of Regina Mae (Weakland) Peles. He married Alvin Zimmerman in 2014. Surviving are his spouse of nine years; his mother; an aunt, Carole Weakland; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Frank Valentine Weakland and Anna D. Presloid; two uncles: Valentine "Tine" Weakland and Francis "Sonny" Weakland; two aunts: Edna "Sis" Smolko and Anna Loraine "Bunny" Hancharik. Richard graduated from Freehold Regional High School in 1969. After graduating, he moved back to the Altoona area where he attended college and received a degree in Business. Richard began working for the shoe company Blair Co. , which eventually became AIRWALK. With the partnership of Paul Yohn, they launched a new company called S. O. S. Richard retired from the venture in 2013. Rick and his husband, Al enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed being together at casinos. Taylor M. Miller Taylor M. Miller, 65 of Duncansville went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Monday, October 16, 2023. She was born April 6, 1958 in Altoona, PA; a daughter of the late Justus Paul and Shirley Marie (Betar) Miller. Taylor was greeted in heaven by her parents, a brother Wadid "Woody" Miller and nephew Jordan Miller. Surviving are three siblings, brother Justus Paul Miller, II and his wife, Laurie of Duncansville; brother James F. Miller and his wife Penny of Altoona; and sister Clarissa A. "Crissi" Miller of Mount Joy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Taylor was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. She worked for Investment Savings Bank for 29 years. Taylor was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family and church. She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Altoona. She enjoyed worshiping the Lord, Sunday dinners spent with her family, spending time with friends while following country singer Trace Adkins, the Dallas Cowboys, and organizing bus trips to Sight and Sound Theater. She loved spoiling the family dogs with endless treats, who we all know will miss her greatly. Most recently Taylor got to enjoy her new great niece and was looking forward to buying her first fancy Christmas dress. Emma Jean Lovell, age 94, a resident of Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, passed away Monday, October 2, 2023 at the home She was born December 24, 1928 in Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late Paul W and Jennie H (Gonsman) O'Shell She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank "Jim" Lovell Emma was raised in Hollidaysburg, where she attended Zion Lutheran Church She was a 1947 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, and enjoyed performing as a member of the majorettes Emma retired from J C Penney Co , where she had worked in window treatments She loved fresh flowers, spending time with family, and playing cards monthly with her lifelong friends She and Jim enjoyed more than 18 wonderful years living in Florida Surviving are four children: James D Calvert (Francene) of Altoona, Mark W Calvert (Mary Jo) of Osceola Mills, Jennifer A (Calvert) Kimble of Altoona and Lori J (Calvert) Condo (Michael) of Hagerstown, Md ; 12 grandchildren: Jeremy, Nicholas, Benjamin and Christian Calvert, Abbey, Brian and Laura Gunter, Aaron and Sara Riley, Lauren Claycomb, and Ross and Emily Campbell; 13 great-grandchildren: Hunter, Dakota, Liesel, Alivia, Brooks, Tonie, Ryker, Roderick, Theodora, Addison, Greyson, Hallie and Evren; two sisters-in-law: Sandy O'Shell and Marty O'Shell; and many nieces and nephews She was also preceded in death by four siblings: Paul, Thomas and Daniel O'Shell and Marilyn Muri The family is thankful for the loving care Emma received at Presbyterian Village and is especially appreciative of the respectful care from the kind staff of Grane Hospice, who attended to Emma in her final months Memorial contributions may be made in Emma's name to the Resident Enhancement Fund at Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, 220 Newry St , Hollidaysburg, PA 16648 Friends will be received from 5 to the 7 p m funeral service on Thursday, October 5, 2023, at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Services Inc , 1218 Fourth Ave , Duncansville, PA, with the Rev Stewart W McClelland officiating Interment will take place at Alto-Reste CemeteryShow more
