Oct 20, 1951 - Sept 9, 2023 Richard F. Weakland, 71, of Duncansville, passed away Saturday. He was born in Spangler, son of Regina Mae (Weakland) Peles. He married Alvin Zimmerman in 2014. Surviving are his spouse of nine years; his mother; an aunt, Carole Weakland; and many cousins. He was preceded in death by grandparents: Frank Valentine Weakland and Anna D. Presloid; two uncles: Valentine "Tine" Weakland and Francis "Sonny" Weakland; two aunts: Edna "Sis" Smolko and Anna Loraine "Bunny" Hancharik. Richard graduated from Freehold Regional High School in 1969. After graduating, he moved back to the Altoona area where he attended college and received a degree in Business. Richard began working for the shoe company Blair Co. , which eventually became AIRWALK. With the partnership of Paul Yohn, they launched a new company called S. O. S. Richard retired from the venture in 2013. Rick and his husband, Al enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed being together at casinos. Surviving are his mother, Brenda of Duncansville; his father, Bradley and girlfriend, Jacqueline Haga of Duncansville; two grandmothers: Bonnie Harley and Sondra Hazenstab; a sister, Brooke Hazenstab and husband, Ellis LaPiana; a step sister, Abby Haga; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by two grandfathers: George Harley and Bernard Hazenstab; and two uncles: Eric Harley and Tim Hazenstab. Jordan graduated from Hollidaysburg Area High School in 2016 and from Pittsburgh Technical College with an associate degree in Computer Programming in 2018. He was employed at Martin's in Duncansville. Jordan enjoyed fishing, playing games with his friends on the computer, and his cat, KitKat. Daniel Piper

G. Daniel Piper, age 82, of Puzzletown, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, after a brief illness. He was born July 17, 1941 in Johnstown, son of the late Sharon D. and Geraldine Mae (Delozier) Piper. He married Dixie J. Imler on Nov. 13, 1963 in Winchester, VA. Surviving are his wife; two children: Sherie J. Piper (Kevin Diehl) and Dan Piper (Diana); and three grandchildren: Nichole Piper (Tyler Kessler), Danyelle Donaldson (Case), and Piper Diehl. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Durwood and Foster Piper and a sister, Doris Langham. Dan was a 1961 graduate of Hollidayburg High School. He retired as a truck driver from Wal-Mart. He enjoyed his antique cars and was a member of Fort Bedford Auto Club. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge. Taylor M. Miller Taylor M. Miller, 65 of Duncansville went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly Monday, October 16, 2023. She was born April 6, 1958 in Altoona, PA; a daughter of the late Justus Paul and Shirley Marie (Betar) Miller. Taylor was greeted in heaven by her parents, a brother Wadid "Woody" Miller and nephew Jordan Miller. Surviving are three siblings, brother Justus Paul Miller, II and his wife, Laurie of Duncansville; brother James F. Miller and his wife Penny of Altoona; and sister Clarissa A. "Crissi" Miller of Mount Joy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Taylor was a graduate of Altoona Area High School. She worked for Investment Savings Bank for 29 years. Taylor was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family and church. She was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Altoona. She enjoyed worshiping the Lord, Sunday dinners spent with her family, spending time with friends while following country singer Trace Adkins, the Dallas Cowboys, and organizing bus trips to Sight and Sound Theater. She loved spoiling the family dogs with endless treats, who we all know will miss her greatly. Most recently Taylor got to enjoy her new great niece and was looking forward to buying her first fancy Christmas dress. Robert A. Palombi, age 72, a resident of the James E. VanZandt VA Medical Center, Altoona, died Monday, September 18, 2023 following an extended illness. He was born October 16, 1950 in Altoona, son of the late Angelo R. and Elaine M. (Baker) Palombi. He is survived by a daughter, Loretta Allison of Portsmouth, NH; two sisters: Sandra Harvey (Sonny) of Rochester, PA and Darlene Harella (Ronald) of Hollidaysburg; two nephews: Richard Harvey (Alena) and Lucas Harella (Kylee); a niece, Lorie Nail (Bill); a great-nephew, Cody Harvey; and a great-niece, Lindsy Grove (Zach). Bob was a US Army veteran, serving in the Presidential Honor Guard Band from 1970 till 1972. He worked for the City of Altoona on the Planning Board. He loved music and enjoyed photography. (Beall) Pummill. Surviving are his six siblings: Catherine, Judy, Terri, Miriam, Bonnie, and Matthew "Ward"; 13 nieces and nephews; and lots of great nieces and nephews. In his younger days, Mike enjoyed adventures of camping and traveling across the country. He loved photography, driving, and kayaking. More recently, he enjoyed British comedies, learning about science and space, and ice cream. Mike had always been generous beyond measure to whoever needed it. He married Carol Heiss in August 1990. Surviving are his wife of 33 years; 4 daughters: Debbie Yingling (Jeff), Teresa Bennett (Bill), Vicki Mainello (Joe), and Angela Lombardi (Pat); 3 sons: William (Joni), Michael (Nancy), and Jon (Jolene); 22 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 sisters: Lois Tesmer, Patty Edmiston, and Rose Laytin; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by 2 sisters: Marilyn Keesee and Sandy Mayhue. Bill served in the U. S. Airforce and worked as a diesel mechanic for many years at Chemical Lehman and retired from Curry Supply Company. He was a life member of Duncansville Volunteer Fire Dept. and was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family.
