Courtney Ann Randall, 44, of Paris, Illinois, passed away peacefully at 11:44 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2024, at her home. She was a dietary aide for Paris Community Hospital for many years and had previously worked at Kroger in Paris.She was born June 26, 1979, in Mattoon, Illinois, the daughter of Loren B. and Cynthia Kay (McIlwain) Randall.Survivors include her parents, Loren and Cindy Randall of Paris, a brother, Micheal (Stacey) Randall of DeKalb, Illinois, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.Ms. Randall was a 1997 graduate of Paris High School where she was a proud member of the Paris Marching Tigers. Courtney had attended Lake Land College and was currently pursuing a Bookkeeping and Accounting degree at Ivy Tech Community College. She had played in the Paris City Band for a number of years and enjoyed PHS Band Alumni events. Courtney enjoyed reading, movies, knitting, jigsaw puzzles, Bingo, and watching Law & Order and The Big Bang Theory. Her favorite holiday was Halloween. He was a dispatcher for the Paris Police Department for 20 years.He was born November 27, 1960 in Paris, Illinois, the son of the late Robert and Ellen (Ramsey) Cox.Survivors include two sisters, Sue Furry of Pimento, Indiana and Vickie (Bill) Combs of Paris, Illinois; his nieces and nephews, Ginger (Michael) Pruitt of Terre Haute, Indiana, Patrick (Dawn) Shephard of Cleora, Oklahoma, Elgin (Christina) Combs of Mattoon, Illinois, Jonathan (Amber) Furry of Pittsboro, Indiana, and Allison (Andy) Swearingen of Terre Haute, Indiana; and several great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister Rebecca L. Dunn.Bruce was a techie and an audiophile and enjoyed working on computers and sound systems. He loved rock and roll music. In his younger years, Bruce was an avid fisherman. Gilbert Edward “Gib” Murray, 82 of Chrisman, Illinois, passed away at 6:55 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Horizon Health Hospital in Paris, Illinois.He was born May 20, 1941 in Edgar County, Illinois, the son of the late Charles Edward “Ed” and Florence May (Gilbert) Murray. He married Jane Lucas April 8, 1965 in Peoria, Illinois and she survives.Other survivors include his children, Kip Murray of League City, Texas, and Katie (Bruce) Lankster of Paris; two grandchildren, Maria (Cody) Starr and Maxwell Taylor, both of Paris; and three great grandchildren, Deegan Lee Starr, Roxzen Lucas Starr,and Dexlyn Maze Starr, all of Paris.Mr. Murray was a member of the Chrisman United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1960 to 1963 as a proud crew member of the USS Intrepid aircraft carrier. Gib formerly worked at the Chrisman First National Bank, S.W. Yontz and Son in Chrisman, and owned G&J Lumber in Chrisman. He also farmed in the Chrisman area, and retired from the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier. Gilbert was a member of Scottland Lodge # 148 Ancient Free & Accepted Masons, Chrisman American Legion Post 477, AASR Valley of Danville, Illinois, Ansar Shrine Temple, Edgar County Shrine Club, and the Gao Grotto in Danville. He lived his life to be of service to God and others and left an impact on everyone he met. He married Sandra Sue Bledsoe on June 13, 1959, in Paris. She preceded him in death on December 29, 2018.Survivors include three children, Dr. David Ford (Robert Swope) of Houston, Texas, Stephen (Kelly) Ford of Paris, and Dianne (Bill) Fleener of Downer’s Grove, Illinois; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.Mr. Ford was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Myron lived a life dedicated to Christian faith and service. He was an active, devoted member of First Assembly of God of Paris since its founding. (Vaughn) Gilbert. He married Ava L. Morgan November 6, 1958 in Charleston, Illinois.Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ava Gilbert of Brocton; three children, Jamilla (Rick) Wilson of Kansas, Brad Gilbert of Brocton, and James (Sarah) Gilbert of Casey; four grandchildren, Kamie (Tom) Pedigo of Rhoadesville, Virginia, Jared Wilson of Kansas, Ceara Edwards of Marshall, and Derek (Kayla) Gilbert of Charleston; eleven great grandchildren, Jagger (Kylee) Pedigo, Jordan Pedigo, Corey Wilson, Nevaeh Wilson, Colton Wilson, Maverick Edwards, Gryffin Wheeler, Emory and Ellianna Dungan, and Connor and Caroline Gilbert; one step great-great granddaughter Mya; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John Gilbert and Jack Gilbert; three sisters Nancy Bosler, Maude Dobbs, and Millie Bunch; and one grandchild Stephanie Lucille Wilson.James worked at the Charleston Shoe Factory; he then was a farmer for 14 years. Following his farming career he drove a semi, and finally was a host at various campgrounds for over 13 years. James loved being outdoors. Dorene Viola Irish, 100, of Paris, Illinois, received her angel wings on Thursday, February 1, 2024. She can now be found in the “cheap seats” of Heaven’s stadium, which is where she said she’d be happy. “No mansion necessary.”Mrs. Irish was born near Scottland, Illinois, on September 1, 1923, the daughter of Ruth (Parish) Camerer and John Camerer. Dorene graduated from Scottland High School in 1940 and went to work as a telephone operator in Paris before marrying Jim Irish on October 28, 1943. They enjoyed years of farming together east of Paris and traveling on numerous Farm Bureau sponsored trips.Dorene is survived by Donnie (Vicki) Jordan and Elaine (Mike) Garwood, the son and daughter she never had. Other survivors include several nieces, nephews, in-laws, and a multitude of friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her four siblings, Dorothy (Carl) Willis, Dayton Camerer, Drexel (Margaret) Camerer, and Dormilou (Glenn) Bishop.A large part of Dorene’s childhood was spent in the care of her grandmother, Viola Parish, and her great-uncle, “Uncle Howard.” It was in their home that Dorene’s solid foundation for life was formed as she learned how to cook, sew, crochet, garden, and to be self-sufficient. For the remainder of her life, Dorene held a special place in her heart for her Grandma Parish.Dorene loved to play cards and dominoes, work crossword puzzles and word search, and watch her beloved Illini. She was a long time member of State Line Christian Church where she served countless funeral dinners, making mountains of homemade pies and chicken and noodles. She hosted many Stratton Home Bureau and HCE meetings (refreshments included), was a 4-H leader and was a huge part of raising funds to build the new 4-H Foods Building, and delivered Peace Meals for years.
