Richard Allen Purdy, Sr. , age 76, of Smithfield, North Carolina passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2023 in the chapel of McLaurin Funeral Home, 12830 US 70 Business Highway West, Clayton, North Carolina with Taylor Sword officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at the funeral home, prior to the service. He is survived by his two children, Tammy Purdy Sword and Richard "Ricky" Allen Purdy, Jr. ; five grandchildren, Cody Camacho, Zulena Tooley, Taylor Sword, Katelyn Adams and Alexander Rawlings; ten great grandchildren, Cayden, Roman, Skyler, Emma, Meili, Ellie, Adrian, Richardo, Phoenix and baby Maverick Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www. mclaurinatpinecrest. com for the Purdy, Sr. family.
