Richard Stevens Paciejewski passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Born in Dearborn, Michigan to Steve and Cecilia Paciejewski on December 21, 1948, he was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald. Devoted to his family, he is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 50 years, Barbara; his son Nick (Tina), son Matthew, and grandchildren Carmel, Phoenix, and Cecilia; brother-in-saw Bill Morrisey, his wife Dora, and nieces Michelle and Sarah; his brother and sister-in-law Lyn and Carolyn Delcore and their extended family. Rick graduated from the University of Detroit in 1971 with a degree in finance. He built a successful career as a financial advisor, ultimately establishing his own firm. He and Barbara met at Ford Motor Company in 1971 when they were hired as summer interns. On the first day of orientation the room was short by two chairs; they were asked to go together to a separate room, and so it began. He asked her to join his Indy 500 pool (she happily joined in) and they began dating. Barbara moved to the DC area, and he joined her quickly thereafter. They were married at Mt. Vernon in 1976 and began to raise a family in 1979. Rick had an appreciation for the ingenuity of mankind. A passionate sports and music fan, he and Barbara loved traveling to live events: auto races, hockey, football and baseball games, and of course, concerts. His varied interests included astronomy, photography, history, technology and electronic gaming. He loved watching bad movies late at night, laughing at his son's bad jokes, and was always prepared for the weather. His generosity, while held private, was abundant and extended to not only those he loved, but complete strangers. His infectious laugh and open nature welcomed friends as family. Rick will be missed every day, and he will be celebrated even more. He loved and laughed and made life better for those who knew him. When you're missing him most, remember one of Rick's favorite quotes: "Kick out the jams"! The family will receive friends on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 10:00 - 11:00 a. m. at Baker-Post Funeral Home, 10001 Nokesville Road, Manassas, Virginia. A celebration of life will begin at 11:00 a. m. in the funeral home chapel. Donations in his name are welcome at SOME (So Others Might Eat). www. some. org

"Margaret Cox Carnduff, 78, passed peacefully October 10, 2023 after a steady decline with dementia and various other ailments. Extended family and friends adored both her and her attitude of doing whatever she wanted without regard to what others may think about it. The family appreciates the compassionate care and expertise of the hospice team at the Adler Center of Capital Caring Hospice. A native Washingtonian, Margaret was born April 26, 1945 in Washington, DC, the youngest of 3 children of Arthur Rhodes Carnduff and Virginia Truxton Glazebrook and was raised in Bethesda, MD, less than 1 block from the DC line. From her classical education at the Madeira School she could still recite sonnets in full, a feat which amazed everyone. She could craft a custom limerick lickety-split to elicit a good hearty laugh from anyone lucky enough to be near her. A competitive horseback rider and graduate of Converse College, she could also speak fluent French from her studies at the Sorbonne. She enjoyed duplicate bridge and challenges with her doubles tennis partner, Wimbledon champion Pauline Betz Addie. Margaret had lived in her beloved Gainesville, VA, for 50 years where she was an integral part of the close-knit community on the Catharpin Strip. She was an independent, confident, gregarious woman and after winning the national sales award for over a decade while employed by Frieden-Alcatel, she retired in her 50's to play her guitar, sit on her screened porch and enjoy her pond, pool and pets. In retirement she golfed on every day with a name ending in "day", was always accompanied by her genuine Goose Dog on the golf course, was an avid tennis player and had season tickets to her beloved Redskins. Margaret was a decent downhill skier until she floundered on an expert double-black-diamond vertical slope called Moment of Truth.
