Richard J. Morris, Jr. Savannah: Richard (Jay) Morris, 81, passed away unexpectedly, Friday afternoon, April 21, 2023 at his home. Friends and family are invited to a graveside service, April 28, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Butler Center Cemetery, Butler Center, NY. Because the people at, Clyde Public Library, were so good to Jay, his family request memorial contributions be directed to them; 204 Glasgow St, Clyde, NY 14433. Richard was born November 7, 1941 in Washington DC, the son of the late Richard J. and Dora V. (Lee) Morris, Sr. He was a 1960 graduate of Washington Lee High School. He retired in 2001 from the US Postal service in Geneva, NY as a Rural mail carrier after 40 years of service. In his younger years he competed in speed skating and dancing competitions in VA. PA and Washington D. C. He helped his father build race cars and helped with the pit crew. In 1968 Jay, wife Vaughn and Son Rob moved from Arlington VA to South Butler NY. He then competed in field trials and bench shows with his hunting hounds. Richard is survived by his loving and supporting wife Vaughn (VanVleck); his daughter Vicki (Kevin) Tylenda; sons Robert (Jennifer) and Richard (Cindy) Morris; grandchildren Joseph Morris, Justin (Cassie) Tylenda, Devin Tylenda, Evin (Emily)Tylenda, Shayla (Charles Stockhausen) Morris, Brenna (Austin) Tylenda-Freer and Reece Morris; great grandchildren Bently, Maddyson, Logan, JC, Ellowyn, Aubree and Rosalyn; his brother Robert (Margo) Morris; several nieces, nephews.
