Richard Loew Obituary

Richard Damon Loew Richard (Damon) Loew, 60, of Matawan, passed peacefully at his home April 19 th . Damon was born in Englewood, New Jersey and shortly thereafter the family moved to Matawan. Damon graduated from Devry Technical Institute in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He spent his post college years living in Hoboken, Long Island and New York City, pursuing his career path before moving back to Matawan. Damon's professional career in telecommunications began as a fiber optics system engineer with AT&T Bell Laboratories in 1987, designing and implementing subsea fiber optical components for both the U. S. military and commercial international telecommunications networks. From this beginning in a cutting-edge technology, he advanced his career with other major telecom companies: Lucent Technologies, VPI Systems, Telcordia, Fujitsu Network Communications and finally Nokia, working as a Solutions Architect. In addition to his love of everything tech, Damon had a great love for music. He was an accomplished guitar and keyboard player, playing in several local rock bands after high school and during college. He enjoyed going to concerts and was an aficionado of the progressive rock genre, including his favorite band Rush. Damon's greatest joy and passion in life was the role of "dad" to his beloved rescue dogs, Brandy and Bleu. Damon was predeceased by his parents, Adelaide and Richard. He is survived by his sister, Lisa Loew-Mason of Red Bank, New Jersey; his brother Jeffrey Loew of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; his niece and nephew, Simone and Samuel Mason, both of Red Bank, New Jersey; his aunt and uncle, Ella and Salvatore Lento, both of Connecticut; and his many loving cousins. A visitation will be held here Sunday, May 7th, from 1-4 PM with a remembrance at 3 PM.
