Richard T Lloyd, 85, of Altoona, went to be with his heavenly father on October 5, 2023, after a wonderful life where he loved and was loved very deeply Richard was born in Altoona on December 2, 1937, the only son of the late Raymond Edward and Louise Mary (Bokal) Lloyd Richard graduated from Altoona High school in 1958 and worked for Boyer Brothers He retired from Frye's Sweeper and Sewing Center after many years' service The true joy of his life was his family, and he was an exceptional husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather Richard married his high school sweetheart, Beverly A Hughes, on October 25, 1958 They have one daughter, Sherrie Ann Richard enjoyed golfing with his many friends and fishing and hunting with his grandson, Scott and great grandson, Liam He has been a member of Sinking Valley Country Club since 1970 and enjoyed all of the friends he made along the way through golf He was also belonged to Riggles Gap Sportsman Club Rich & Bev spent all of their days committed to one another and their family Most recently, he most enjoyed watching his great grandchildren play sports, having breakfast with friends and attending his church, Fields of Harvest Fellowship He is survived by his beloved wife, Beverly; only daughter Sherrie A Buchanan; beloved son-in-law Douglas; grandchildren Scott D Buchanan (Holly) and Julie E Sheetz (Ryan); and his great grandchildren: Liam, Elliott, Hudson, Sawyer, and Elise, who all miss him dearly His home is filled with hundreds of photos of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren His family has been so fortunate to be loved for so long by such an incredible man A visitation will be held from 3:00 p m to 6:00 p m , Monday, October 9, 2023, at Fields of Harvest Fellowship Church, 3620 5th Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 6:00 p m with Pastor Hud Crossman officiating In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations please be made to Dreams Go On, 110 Hollidaysburg Plaza, Duncansville, PA 16635, c/o Karen Kurtz or Fields of Harvest Fellowship Church, 3620 5th Avenue, Altoona, PA 16602 To to the family or in memory of Richard Thomas "Rich" Lloyd, please

Ben Shrum

Ben Roark Shrum of Gallatin TN and State College, PA passed away November 22, 2023 at the age of 99 in the James E. Van Zandt Veterans' Administration Medical Center in Altoona, PA. He would have been 100 in January and he stated he was ready to see what was on the next page. Ben was born the sixth of seven children to Hattie and Ike Shrum in Bethpage, TN. His birth and step families were split up during the depression, and Ben grew up with the family of Jim and Fanny Hix in Gallatin. He worked on the family farm and then Kraft Foods in Gallatin until he joined the US Army during World War II. In the Army, he served with the 738th Medium Tank Battalion, Special, in the Ardennes, Alsace, Rhineland and Central Europe campaigns. His Sherman tank was one of the tanks guarding the bridges at Remagen as the Allies prepared to cross the Rhine into Germany. After the war, he returned to Gallatin, resumed working at Kraft Foods, and met and married Iris Lonnell Reed (Lonnell). In subsequent years, their son Joe Donald (Don) and daughter Judy Carol were born. Ben worked at Kraft until the plant closed and then worked as a self-employed handyman until he retired. When Lonnell passed away in 2006, he moved to State College, PA and lived with his daughter Judy Mudgett and her husband David. In retirement, Ben loved to travel, do gardening and talk with the neighbors, and fix things - and was very active until recently. Ben was preceded in death by his mom Hattie, his dad Ike, his sisters Louella and Mary, his brothers Thomas, Hendry, Charlie, and John, and his one and only love - his wife of almost 56 years, Lonnell - and many lifelong friends. Ben is survived by his son Don and his daughter Judy (David Mudgett), granddaughters Christina (Jason Garza) and Carolyn (Brandon Wagner), and one great grandson Jason Garza Jr (JJ), as well as many nieces and nephews. Ben was a gentle, kind man and will be greatly missed. Ben will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date. Hilda M. Proctor, 84, Altoona, passed away Wednesday. She was born in Philadelphia, daughter of the late Ernest and Hilda (Smith) Yoerke. She married Robert E. Proctor who preceded her in death in 2000. She is survived by five children: Robert, Jr. , Sandria Baker and Corrine Stevenson; all of Bucks County; Chris of Altoona and Heather Margiotta in Magnolia, NJ; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and five siblings: Sally, Elsie, Carol, Ernest and Tommy. Hilda retired from Core State Bank in Philadelphia. She enjoyed painting and going to the beach. At the request of the deceased, no public services will be held. Edward T. Strong June 8, 1939 - November 21, 2023 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Edward T. Strong of Altoona, a beloved husband, father, and friend. Ed departed this world peacefully at home on November 21, 2023, after a lengthy battle with multiple myeloma surrounded by family. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering dedication. He was born on June 8, 1939, in Pittsburgh as the second child to his mother Lona. He lived a life marked by resilience and commitment to God and his family. He was a devoted husband of 60 years to his wife, Elizabeth Anne (Wilt) Strong. They shared a lifetime of love and companionship. Edward is known for his strong ethic and passion while working at Union Tank Car Company where he retired in 2004 after over 30 years of service. Whether in the workplace or with family, he approached life with determination and integrity. His impact reached beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of colleagues, friends, and community members alike. In his free time, Ed enjoyed watching Penn State Football, participating with the Masonic Lodge 281 and the Jaffa Shrine, reading the Newspaper, and listening to his grandson's sermons weekly. As we mourn Ed's passing, let us remember the strength he instilled in us and the love he shared. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him. May Edward Strong rest in peace and may his family find solace in the cherished memories they shared with him. She was worn in Altoona, daughter of the late Franklin and Ruth (Smith) Langer. She married Richard Pine, who preceded her in death in 2005. Surviving is a son, Richard P. Pine of Greenwood. Thomas J. Lamb, Jr. , 85, died early Wednesday morning November 15, 2023, at the Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was born September 10, 1938, in Philipsburg, a son of the late Thomas J. and Helen I. (Miller) Lamb. Surviving are six siblings: Ramona Laich of Munson, Shirley Hurley of Morrisdale, Lucinda Lamb of Altoona, Karen Webb of Rapid City, SD, David Lamb of Roaring Spring, and Richard Lamb of Spotsylvania, VA; and numerous extended family members. Thomas was preceded in death by a sister, Lucretia Dilling in 2017, and a brother, Forest Lamb in 2020. Mr. Lamb was a 1956 graduate of Philipsburg High School. He honorably and proudly served in the U. S. Marine Corps beginning in 1956. Thomas was an information technology specialist having most recently been employed by the United States Social Security Administration retiring in 2004. He enjoyed dancing, country music, and he especially enjoyed working in his yard which he meticulously maintained. Tom was a member of the Waynesboro VFW. Jane Elizabeth Eamigh, 99, Blair Tower, passed away Monday evening. She was born in Sunbury, daughter of the late Albert Russell "Ted" and Laura (Miller) Bare. On August 29, 1946, she married Robert Ridgeway Eamigh. He preceded her in death on March 27, 1990. She is survived by three sons: Bob and wife Kathy of Butler, Ron and wife Mary Jo of Altoona and Randy and wife Lisa of Tyrone; eight grandchildren: Ron (Rachel), Rob (Dana), Mark (Jessie), Sarah Dean (T. K. ), Randy, Emily Eamigh (Matt), Joey and Josh; and ten great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Richard Eamigh. Jane was a 1942 graduate of Altoona High School. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the Juniata Civic Association Auxiliary and a founding member of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed playing Bingo, attending church, watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, golf and the Price Is Right, and loved her sweets, especially cookies. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Mauk & Yates Funeral Home, 719 N 4th Avenue, Altoona, 16601. Ann Louise (Kleffman) McClelland, 94, Altoona, entered eternal life Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Presbyterian Village at Hollidaysburg, surrounded by family. Born March 12, 1929, Altoona, daughter of Samuel S. and Cordelia J. (Cox) Kleffman. Preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Joseph G. McClelland; and her brother, John "Jack" Kleffman. Survived by her daughters, Jeanne and Nancy McClelland; and Sharon Harpster; granddaughters, Ashley and Mandy Harpster; goddaughter, Laurie Scholl; son-in-law, Frank Harpster III; and many cousins. Ann retired from nursing after 33 years, having worked at Altoona Hospital, and for Dr. John Stoker and Dr. Ronald Deitrick. She loved spending time with family, singing in her church choir, knitting, and fishing. Sandra Marie Ritchey Charles Park, 66, Altoona, passed away early Wednesday morning at UPMC Altoona due to natural causes. She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late George E. Ritchey, Sr. and Theresa Ann (Bidoli) Ritchey Pellegrino. She was twice married to Paul C. Charles III who preceded her death and Steven M. Park who preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter, Tera Franklin (Carlos Santana) of Altoona; a son, Paul Charles IV (Erica Allison) of Altoona; stepsons: Jeremy, Jake and Josh Park; grandchildren: Sha’ree, Shawn, Aleysia, Serena, Daryl III, Paul V "PJ", Braeden, Alyssa, Mikayla and Joseph Jr. ; siblings: George E. Ritchey, Jr. (Deborah) and Nina L. Ramsey (Eric); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, Joseph Michael Charles, Sr. , a granddaughter, Hayden Charles, a sister, Deborah Ritchey, and stepfather, Frank Pellegrino, Jr. Sandra attended St. Francis where she studied business. After many years of service, she retired from Bilo Foods as an office manager. She loved spending time with her grandchildren; and she enjoyed knitting and her cats. Sandra was a beautiful person; for the way she thought, for the sparkle in her eyes for when she talked about something she loved, for her ability to make others smile, even if she was sad. No, she wasn’t beautiful for something as temporary as her looks, she was beautiful deep down to her soul. "A golden heart stopped beating, hardworking hands at rest, it broke our hearts to see you go, God only takes the best. They say that memories are golden, well maybe that is true, but we never wanted memories, we only wanted you, your life was love and labor, your love for your family true, you did your best for all of us, we will always remember you. We sat beside your bedside, our hearts were crushed and sore, we did our duty to the end, ‘til we could no more. In tears we watched you sinking, we watched you fade away, and though our hearts were breaking, we knew you could not stay. Our lips cannot speak how we loved you, our hearts cannot tell what to say, but God only knows how we miss you, in our home that is lonely today. " A memorial service will be held at a later date. Carolyn Clare Snow, age 87, of Altoona, PA passed away November 4th in her home surrounded by loved ones. She is survived by her three daughters and their families, including seven grandchildren who were the light of her life. Carolyn was born and raised in Altoona, PA. She lead a robust life working for 17 years as the Activities Director at Garvey Manor Nursing Home. She taught piano lessons, was the choir director and pianist at church, volunteered for the Contact Crisis phone hotline, and spent time as President of both the Altoona Women's Club and the Pennsylvania Activities Professional Association for many years. Carolyn also enjoyed sitting on the board for the Altoona Symphony League. She will be forever loved and remembered. A memorial service will be held at Wehnwood Church on Saturday, November 18th at 2 p. m. April 5, 1960 - Oct. 31, 2023 Cathy J. Price, 63, of Altoona, passed away suddenly at UPMC Altoona on Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2023, surrounded by family. She was born in Dover, Ohio. She was united in marriage to Gerald L. Price. They enjoyed 33 wonderful years together. Along with her husband, she is survived by children, Gerald Price and his wife, Megan, and Harlei Price and fiance', Cody Stoy; stepdaughter, Sherri Irons; 10 grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Young (Dave Young); and cousin, Sandy Berkshire (Kenny Berkshire). She was preceded in death by her father, James Sears. Cathy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She always looked forward to her trips to the beach, and took pride in keeping up with her home and decorating throughout the year. She was a co-owner and operator of A-1 Paving.
