Johnstown - Richard C. Knudsen, 74, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at home with his loving wife at his side. Born in Rome, New York, on March 23, 1949, the son of the late Richard and Betty Jo Knudsen. A lifelong resident of the area, Richard graduated from Fonda Fultonville Central School, Class of 1970. Richard retired after 42 years from CSX, after what was supposed to be a summer job that turned into a lifetime career. Throughout his whole life Richard loved to keep busy, work outside, do landscaping at home, his local church, anywhere he could, which in turn, Richard went on to work for Green Thumb Lawn Care after his retirement so he could continue to do what he loved. Periodically throughout Richard's life, many would see him driving the school bus for Fonda Fultonville. Richard loved to bowl and play golf. Most of all, Richard was a loving husband, father, grandfather, who would never miss a game and friend who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. On October 2, 1986, Richard married his loving wife, Betty (Thomas) Knudsen. Both Richard and Betty were members of the First Baptist Church, Johnstown. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty; children, Richard H. Knudsen, Richard Spicci, Sr. (Helen); Rayann Uebrick (Rob), J. R. Spicci (Keely Christensen), Tonya Spicci (Sean) and Crystal Oathout (Wayne); grandchildren, Brent, Daulton, Ashton, Richie Jr. , Andy, Peyton, Jeremy, Abby, Lyndsay, Bradley, Avery, Blake, Blair, Allison, Mya and Layna; brother, Joe Knudsen; fur children, Molly, Alice, Paula and Digger. A funeral service for Richard will be held on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at 12noon at the First Baptist Church, 325 S. Comrie Ave, Johnstown, 12095. Calling hours will be held prior at the church starting at 10am. Richard's favorite color was blue; the family is asking to please wear your favorite blue to honor Richard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Richard's care has been entrusted to Betz, Rossi, Bellinger & Stewart Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Ave, Amsterdam.

Delores J. DiMatteo Francisco Bielecki, 88, of Amsterdam, NY passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 26, 2023 following a brief illness. Born in Amsterdam on February 2, 1935 she was the daughter of the late Victor and Philomena "Lena" DiMatteo. A lifelong area resident, Delores was a graduate of the former Wilbur H. She was predeceased by her husbands, Richard Francisco and John Bielecki; her sons, Duane and Darren Francisco; and six of her siblings. Dee was devoted to her family. She especially loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren; and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ana Vega Martinez, 80, of Old Trail Road in Fonda, NY, passed away on Sunday, November 19th, 2023, surrounded by her Liberty ARC family. She was born on March 26, 1943, in Yauco, Puerto Rico to the late Rafael Vega Rodriguez and Luisa Martinez. Ana was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all that knew her, especially her Liberty family. Ana made everyone's days brighter with her infectious smile and her ever present sassiness. Ana loved her home at Old Trail, and she was a true fixture at the house. Ana brought lots of laughter and joy to her housemates and staff. She could be found roaming around the house, holding her baby dolls, and humming to them like they were her children. Ana would visit her housemates' rooms and leave gifts on their beds to show her affection for them. Ana was very proud of her Spanish heritage and would constantly share with everyone that she was from Yauco. She loved everything about her culture, from the food to the music. Ana was a true cafe lover; she constantly would say "cafe" and even after having a cup she would ask for some more. She also enjoyed her cafe with a favorite Spanish cookie "Goya". Along with enjoying the simple pleasures of cafe, Ana loved her Spanish music and would dance while saying "Merengue, Merengue". She would also enjoy sitting out on the back porch in the summer basking in the warm weather. Ana was a beautiful soul that loved the simple pleasures of life and she touched the lives of everyone. Even in her final days, Ana warmed the hearts of those around her. Ana was surrounded by those she loved from Old Trail. She spent her final day at the house comfortable in her room, listening to Spanish music all day long. The staff can only hope that she loved her home and staff as much as we all loved her. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Sylvia Marie Swift passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November20th, 2023. Born on November 21st, 1957 to Harold and Rosetta May Swift, she was a 1976graduate of Schoharie High School. Upon graduation she moved to Amsterdam and wasemployed at Coleco & # 39;s in the quality control department. With the subsequent closing ofColeco she attended FMCC where received an associate degree in criminal justice andworked at the town court in Fonda for Judge Sise. She went on to work at Ward Products inAmsterdam before helping disabled people at Liberty ARC as a direct support professional. Sylvia was so much more than a name on a timeclock, she was a kind, generous andempathetic soul who loved to dance, bake (especially her Italian lemon knot cookies),spending countless hours with her grandchildren, cheering on her N. Y. Giants and gardening,Sylvia was our rock, our safe harbor, the hole in our hearts cannot be measured or filled. Dorothy "Dot" Elizabeth (Richtmyer) Nellis, age 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, on November 23, 2023. She was born in Gloversville on February 27, 1943, to the late Charles S. Richtmyer, and Caroline Kelley Richtmyer. Dot led a fulfilling life marked by love, adventure, and family. Dot was a 1961 Gloversville High School graduate, a Nurse's Aide at Nathen Littauer Hospital and worked for a short time at Winnings slipper factory, in Gloversville prior to becoming a devoted wife to Richard "Dick" Nellis. They were married on June 2, 1962. With her husband being in the US Air Force, Dot embraced adventure, living in various states and overseas. Their travels enriched her life and those of her family, leaving them with a treasure trove of memories. They returned to Gloversville after Dick's retirement from the USAF. Dot and her family settled into a life enriched by the experiences and bonds of family. Dot was a loving mother who found joy in the simple pleasures of family life. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and shared with them everything from her love of reading and putting puzzles together to card games and how to be a Monopoly shark, or any game for that matter! Most famously, she was known for her love of elephants as shown through her vibrant collection of memorabilia from travels and cherished gifts from family members. She accepted everyone for themselves without judgement and advocated for others. She loved family gatherings and said that her family was the source of the most joy in her life. Her warmth, wisdom, and unwavering support left an indelible mark on everyone she met. Her legacy continues through her loving family and the countless memories shared. She is lovingly remembered by her husband, Dick, married for an admirable 61 years, two sisters, Catherine Nyland of Vermont, and Caroline Fitch of California; son, Kevin Nellis (Tae Jun Kwon); three daughters, Dorri DiPasquale (Glenn), Kelly Nellis, and Theresa Nellis-Matson (Jay) all of Gloversville; five grandchildren: Nicholas DiPasquale, Brandon DiPasquale, Sedrik Nellis, Skylar Matson, Benjamin Matson; three step-grandchildren: Christina DiPasquale, Jennifer Christman, and Brian DiPasquale; many cousins, nieces, and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents, brother Charles Richtmyer, sister Barbara R Nellis, and brother in-laws David Nellis, John Fitch, and Donald Nyland. The family expresses profound gratitude to all the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice. The care they provided reflected the love and respect she deserved towards her final destiny. May she rest in peace and love. As we bid farewell to Dot, we cherish her memory and celebrate a life filled with love, laughter, and the joy of discovery. Audrey M. Garguilo, age 88, entered into Eternal Rest on November 16, 2023, at Wells Nursing Home, Johnstown, NY. She was born May 26, 1935, in Gloversville, the daughter of the late Howard and Agnes Richards. She was employed by Acme Grocery Store and later became a teacher's aide at Kingsboro School. Her love for family and friends was endless. She had a generous and loving personality and brought warmth and joy to all those she encountered. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her. She is forever in our hearts and memories. May she now rest in peace. Audrey was a devout Catholic and a dedicated member of the Church of the Holt Spirit She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Frank A. "Bebe" Garguilo; her sons, Christopher (Lisa), Gregory (Rita); her grandchildren, Christopher (Kourtney), Dana (Jake), Kelli and Kyle; her great-grandchildren, Christopher III and Grace. She is also survived by her sister, Elizabeth, along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Charlene.
