Alexandria, LA

Oakdale-With great sadness, we announce the passing of our kind, brave, caring and unimaginably generous husband, son, brother, father and friend, Richard Shane Hussong (52). Shane passed away at Christus Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, Louisiana on April 8, 2023. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11:00am at Allen Parish Funeral Home (311 Highway 1152 Oakdale, Louisiana 71463). The Celebration of Life, or Shane's party he requested, will follow at his beloved camp on the Whiskey Chitto (2852 Methodist Camp Rd, Kinder, LA 70648). Shane had a great sense of humor and was fuller of life than anyone we've ever met. He was taken too soon and will be missed and remembered by the many lives he touched. Shane, everyone you left in this world hates that you are gone but we are happy that you are home free and painless. We will always love and miss you. Our lives are better for you having been in them. Shane was born in Alexandria, Louisiana on July 24, 1970. He grew up in Oakdale and graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1988. Though he was truly country, he left his familiar roots behind for the big city of Baton Rouge to pursue a business degree and a good time at Southeastern Louisiana University and Louisiana State University. There, he met some of his best lifelong friends, as well as his future wife, Kristine. In 1995, Shane and Kristine moved to Alexandria for Shane to work with his father Richie as the third generation in the family business, Interstate Batteries. After marrying in 1996, he continued to grow the business successfully and welcomed the birth of his three children, Jacob, Aidan and Megan and was a devoted father. Through the years, Shane's hobbies included mountain bike riding, spending time at his camp fishing and riding his Can-Am, off-roading in his Jeep, mastering his cooking, and making memories with family and friends. His cooking was legendary, especially his jambalaya and fried fish - he was known to throw anything in the fryer to make it better. He was a stranger to no one and was authentically and wholeheartedly there for those in his life. Shane was known to be the life of every party, well-liked by everyone, mostly due to his positive energy. He told entertaining stories, sometimes with a hint of exaggeration. Shane is survived by his wife, Kristine; his children: Jacob Hussong, Aidan Hussong and Megan Hussong. He is also survived by his mother, Victoria Stephens and bonus father, Phillip Stephens of Oakdale; his two brothers, Adam Hussong (wife, Britani) and Caleb Hussong (wife, Jordan); and his sister Ashley Reed (husband, Mike). Shane was preceded in death by his father, Richard L. Hussong. All arrangements have been entrusted to Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes. Words of comfort may be sent to the family at and on Facebook-Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.
