He was the son of the late Ralph M. Stogoski Sr. and the late Audrey Stogoski (Kocher) of Dallas. Ralph is survived by his wife Sharon of 49 years and two children; son Eric and his wife Tiffany Stogoski and daughter Bobbi and her husband Shawn Potter; his grandchildren Luke Stogoski, Kate Stogoski and Miles Potter. He is also survived by his best friend and loving sister Judy Cennamo and her husband Charles and her children Jody and her husband Brian Bognansky and Shawn Magda. His other brothers and sisters, Billy, Cindy, Diane, and Audrey. His sister-in-law Cathy Vilewinski and her husband Gene; close nephews Andrew Verdekal and his wife Julie, and Ryan Verdekal; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ralph was a veteran of the US Army. He served in Fulda, Germany, until he was injured and sent to the St. Albans Naval Hospital where he was medically discharged from the service. Ralph worked as a general contractor, Ralph Stogoski & Son. His dad taught him and eventually he taught his son the business. He took great pride in his work. He'd come home from the grocery store with two new jobs just by his vibrant personality. The man could talk and was a great story teller. It was a gift. Ralph was an avid bowler, fisherman and hunter. Later in life, he loved woodworking as a hobby. He loved spending time with his son Eric in the woods and was lucky enough to hunt in different places across the country with hunting buddies. It was always a good day in the woods regardless if they got anything. We don't know what he loved more, hunting or all the food he made and consumed on his trips. The man could also eat. He made Christmas breakfast for his family and friends. A family tradition that we'll continue with family and friends serving the best home fries and eggs surrounded by the most important people in his life. Ralph had the pleasure of returning to Alaska with his wife on three occasions. It was his dream come true. He paraglided off the mountain of Mt. Alyeska, Alaska and convinced his daughter to do the same on his last adventure there. He was a legend. 19 years ago the doctors told us we had 15 years left with him. He was so happy to say he got to be here for all the good stuff. Especially his 3 grandchildren. Being there for their big stuff. Graduation, Honor Society, births, the kids sports, teaching them how to cheat at cards, sneaking them snacks and sharing his stories with them. He loved those kids so much. We called the last 4 years the BONUS years. He beat all the odds. He was so strong. If it weren't for the love of his life, Sharon and his team of wonderful doctors it never would've been possible. She fought for him, advocated and loved him through all of this. Everyone deserves a Sharon. Truly. We should all be so lucky. Thank you to Dr. Satti of Temple, Dr. Brozena and Dr. Mathers of University of Penn Medicine, Dr. Kevin Carey and Dr. Saporito for their exceptional care through the years. A memorial service will be held Monday, November 6, 2023 at 7:00 PM from the Curtis L. Swanson Funeral Home, Inc. , corner of routes 29 and 118, Pikes Creek, with Dr. Kevin Carey officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. In lieu of flowers or monetary gifts, please consider getting outside, climbing a mountain, helping a friend or making new memories with your loved ones. Ralph loved all of those things and it will make your life brighter too. Online condolences can be made at clswansonfuneralhome. comShow more

Joanie Dillon

Joanie Dillon

Age - 69

October 8, 2023

Joan Eileen Dillon, age 69, beloved daughter, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, died suddenly Oct 6, 2023 at home in Sweet Valley, Pennsylvania. Joan was born October 28, 1953. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Margaret Dillon and her sister, Carole Chapple, as well as her cherished aunts, Katherine and Anna. Joanie-as she was affectionately called by her family- is survived by her siblings Peggy, Maureen, and their husbands Larry and Sam. John, and Mike, and their Wifes, Maryellen, and Gina. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Ken Chapple as well as loving cousins, nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and close friends. The fourth child born into a large and loving Irish family, Joanie demonstrated natural artistic talent at an early age, often sprawled out on the living room floor with her crayons and coloring books. She possessed a keen Irish wit and sense of humor, a kind and loving nature, and an adventurous spirit. As a child and adult, she spent many happy times with her family -enjoying picnics, holidays, beach vacations, birthdays, and trips to New York City for St. Patrick’s Day, a favorite Dillon family tradition. She attended Central Catholic High School, College Misericordia where she obtained a Master's Degree in Studio Art, and Bloomsburg University, where she earned her doctorate degree in education and an MA from Shippensburg. Joanie had a life-long dedication to learning, teaching, and reading and an accomplished career as a college professor. Most recently, in retirement, she was working as an English language tutor for immigrant children as well as volunteering at the Back Mountain Memorial Library. Joanie had a determined spirit that guided her through life’s many joys and challenges, a quiet inner strength, and a passion for travel. Like her Aunt Anna, Joanie lived happily as a strong single woman and enjoyed wandering the world. She took innumerable trips to distant lands -often solo- visiting many different countries, soaking up culture and knowledge, and enjoying the wonders and beauty of new places. She and her cousin Cathy were often traveling companions. During the last several years, Joanie dedicated time and energy to exploring her Irish heritage and genealogy. She made several trips to Ireland, where she visited Rosscarbery, the town where her ancestors lived after immigrating from Scotland. As one of her cherished recent activities, Joanie attended several Irish song and dance festivals, where she delighted in dancing the Irish jig, and singing favorite Irish songs she had learned as a child. These activities gave her a sense of belonging and connection to her Irish heritage. At her home in Sweet Valley, Joanie enjoyed tending her flower gardens, feeding the birds, and cultivating natural beauty. Throughout her life she also painted in watercolor and created calligraphy cards with Irish blessings and poems as gifts for family members, many of which are proudly displayed in our homes. Joanie’s smiling Irish eyes, lilting voice and laughter, strong spirit, and caring nature will be sadly missed. She will live on in our hearts as we send her on her final journey to be reunited with her beloved parents and sister in their heavenly afterlife. As we always say in our family, "Hail Mary for safe travels, dear Joanie. " A celebration of life service will be held at a later date to be announced.
