Schroon Lake: Richard W. Hermance Jr. , 61, of Queensbury went to drive the streets of heaven with his father and son on Saturday, September 9, 2023. Rick was born on November 25, 1961, in Glens Falls to his parents Richard and Julia (Perras) Hermance. Rick attended South Glens Falls School. Rick was a truck driver through and through. He loved every minute behind the wheel of his tractor-trailer. He enjoyed spending time with his kids and his grand puppy Georgie. Rick loved to tinker with anything he could possibly try to fix. He enjoyed fishing and being outside. Rick drove trucks for many companies over the years including his own, Hermance Trucking of Wilton, Pallette Stone Corp. of Saratoga Springs, John W. Lucarelli & Sons Inc. of Clifton Park, and for many years hauling logs from Newcomb for Silas Greene. Rick was predeceased by his son Hunter W. Hermance, his father Richard W. Hermance Sr. , and his sister Lori A. (Hermance) McFee. Survivors include his wife Holly Hermance of Schroon Lake and his two children Nikolaus T. Hermance and Sabrina K. Hermance. His mother Julia Hermance of Queensbury, his sister Susan Hermance of Queensbury, his brother Jody Hermance of Missouri, his mother and father- in- law Alan and Ruth Wemett of Schroon Lake, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. At Rick's request there will be no calling hours or services. There will be a private family gathering at a later date. Please love the people in your life to the fullest and make sure you tell them you love them every day.

Richard Cosgrove, age 82, of Queensbury, NY, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 27, 2023 at Saratoga Hospital. Born on June 23, 1941, in Utica, NY, he was the son of the late Glen Cosgrove and Edna Kohler-Cosgrove. Richard graduated from SUNY Plattsburgh with a degree in Nursing. He dedicated his professional life to caregiving as a registered nurse at Albany Medical Center, hospice in Washington County and the Eddy VNA in Troy, NY, before retiring in 2013. Outside of his profession, Richard was a long-time member of the Greenwich Elks Lodge. Richard's passion for life was unmistakably reflected in his diverse hobbies. His zest for life was evident in his myriad of interests, which included hiking, riding motorcycles, listening to smooth jazz, nurturing landscapes, traveling, playing cards, dancing the night away and learning about the mysteries of outer space as well as a deep love of animals. He loved spending the winter months in Florida being near the ocean. He embraced every moment with enthusiasm and kindness, and he brightened the room with his laughter and sense of humor. Richard had a deep appreciation for his lifelong friends who enriched his life beyond words. He leaves behind cherished memories with his loving wife of 57 years, Lulubelle Cosgrove; his son, Darren Cosgrove (Randee); daughter, Alisha Cosgrove; brothers, Robert Cosgrove (Kathy), Dennis Cosgrove (Mary), and Nathan Thomas (Debra). The light of his life was his granddaughter, Delaney Cosgrove. QUEENSBURY Matthew A. Dutson, 52, passed away on Sunday, November 19. 2023 at the Westchester Medical Center with his family by his side. Born December 16, 1970 in Glens Falls, NY, he was the son of Virginia (Lee) Dutson and the late F. Allen Dutson. Matthew graduated from Adirondack Community College with a Associates Degree in Medical Coding. He went to work in coding at the Saratoga Hospital, worked as a security officer for Pyramid Malls, and most recently was employed at North Country Janitorial. Matthew was an avid sports fan. He loved watching the Pittsburgh Penguins, The Boston Red Sox, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was a lifelong fan of the Star Wars franchise, and was very proud of his amazing vegetable garden. He will be greatly missed by many. Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Virginia Dutson (companion Tim Murphy), his sister Jackie Muermann (Roy), his nieces, Lauren Muermann and Hannah Muermann, his uncle Lester Lee (Diane), as well as several cousins. Lake Luzerne/Queensbury Betty Jean (Tubbs) Askins Schwaeble, 91, passed away Wednesday morning, October 25, 2023 at the home of her son Wes. Born on June 25, 1932 in Lake Luzerne, she was the daughter of the late Orie and Marion (Ives) Tubbs. Betty worked at Pine Log Camp following her graduation from Mildred Elly Business School. She then went on to Ames Chemical in Glens Falls. In September of 1951 she accepted a position with American Airlines in Kansas City. She moved back to Lake Luzerne in 1957 and raised her family here. After her sons had grown, she worked for Dr. Mary Nelson for three years and then Glens Falls Hospital as a secretary and billing clerk for 16 years retiring in 1992. Betty enjoyed writing, whether it was in her journal, or with her pen pal Ellla from Australia with whom she stayed in contact with for 79 years. In 1989, she traveled there to meet in person. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Lake Luzerne. She was extremely caring and generous with her time with family and friends alike. She was predeceased by her parents; siblings: Joseph Tubbs and Douglas Tubbs; two grandsons Gunner Askins and Joshua Bierman. Survivors include her loving sons: Monte (Penny Gilman) Askins, Wes (Kathy Richardson) Askins and Gary (Judy) Askins all of Lake Luzerne; five grandchildren: twelve great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins. QUEENSBURY - Kellie Rae Blackman James, 55, of Queensbury passed away on Wednesday, September 20 , 2023, after a courageous battle with metastatic melanoma. Born on March 1 , 1968 in Glens Falls, she was the beloved daughter of Wade and the late Linda Blackman. Kellie graduated from Queensbury High School in 1984. She attended Oswego College. Kellie worked at Mahoney Alarms for the last 14 years, where she created fond memories of happy times with her coworkers there. Anyone who knew Kellie knew this - Kellie's whole world revolved around her "boys" - Adam, Trae, Lanz, and Troi. Being their mom was truly her greatest joy. To them - she was a fierce advocate, a protector, a cheerleader, a confidant, and a friend. Left to carry on her memory is her father, Wade Blackman; her sons, Adam Gordon (Lauren Schwartz), Lanz James (Elizabeth "Lizzy Mae" Kenerson), Troi James (Lanie Felt) and Jonathan James; her brother and sister-in-law, Jason and Meghan Blackman and her sister, Sara Quartiers. Kellie was an amazing aunt to her niece and nephews; Jason Patrick Blackman (Rez Morris), Schuyler Rae Quartiers, and Liam Quartiers. Also, her childhood friend, Jolea Brand, her partner-in-crime, Melanie Cohen and longtime friend, Val Romleski. She was predeceased by her mother, Linda Blackman, her son, Trae Lindan James, and her nephew, Cameron Quartiers. Kellie was smart and resourceful and quick-witted. Due to her experience with a variety of things, she was lovingly referred to as "Dr. James" and when asked her age, always proclaimed she was "29". Kellie had such a BIG personality. She made every family gathering an event! Those memories will live with us forever. While her pain and suffering is over, ours is just beginning. But, we will go forward carrying her love with us and taking care of each other - just the way she would want us to. Kellie faced many obstacles and endured several hardships in her life but she never once lost her capacity to love. And in turn, she was loved beyond measure. LATROBE, PA - Mary Sylvia Harvey, 87, originally from Hudson Falls and later Queensbury, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2023, with loving family members by her side. Sylvia was born on June 20, 1936, in Glens Falls. She was the daughter of the late Sylvester C. Sullivan and Mary Ethel (Jordan) Sullivan. She was a 1953 graduate of Hudson Falls High School and earned her bachelor's degree in elementary education from The College of St. Rose in 1957. Sylvia was married to Gifford S. Harvey of Hudson Falls on July 23, 1960. She was a loving and devoted caregiver to her immediate and extended family. A dedicated teacher to many in several states between 1960 and 1977, Sylvia supported her family during Gif's military and civilian careers that brought them to various locations across the U. S. before returning to Hudson Falls in 1977. Sylvia spent most of her tenure teaching third grade at Burgoyne Avenue Elementary in Hudson Falls. She was passionate about learning and truly loved her students and colleagues. In retirement, Sylvia was thrilled to host her grandchildren, Kristen and Michael Edgerly, for a few weeks each summer for a personal "summer camp" filled with activities including trips to Crandall Library and many locations in the Adirondacks. She volunteered at The Hyde Collection in Glens Falls and extended her career as a professional educator by grading NYS standardized tests for many years. Sylvia's hobbies included reading, flower gardening, long walks and conversation. She often shared fond memories of her childhood and trips to Ireland, Spain and Hawaii with the Assisted Living staff of her later years who she was extremely grateful for. She is predeceased by her husband, Gifford and three brothers, William Sullivan, Thomas Sullivan, Patrick Sullivan, in-laws and several dear friends. Sylvia is survived by her sister Kathleen Bernard (Sullivan), four children, Mark Harvey (Valerie Vold), Laura Edgerly (Daniel Edgerly), Daniel Harvey (Erin Harvey) and Rachel Harvey (Troy Soka); four grandchildren, two great-grandsons, several nieces, nephews, and close friends. As was her wish, Sylvia's final selfless act was the gift of education through her anatomical donation to the University of Pittsburgh Medical School. Queensbury - Mary Ann (Mysliwiec) Kilb, 81, passed away August 6, 2023 at her home surrounded by her loving family, following a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Mary Ann was born in Troy on December 1, 1941, first daughter of three, to Michael Klinowski and Wanda (Kowalski). She married in 1959 to William Mysliwiec, and together they had six BEAUTIFUL children. She was a stay-at-home Mom who raised six children, but once the youngest entered school, embarked on a career that included employment as a Procurement Specialist with the State of New York, the Watervliet Arsenal and the Albany Airport. Mary Ann graduated from Shaker High School (1st Class ever) in 1959 and was at the top of her class. Later in life, she went back to school and earned her Associates Degree from HVCC, and continued further with courses toward her Bachelor's degree at Empire State College. She also earned her Real Estate license and sold homes for several years. Along the way, she met and became friends with many she worked with, and was always known for her fashion, presence, and personality. Mary Ann later met her soulmate, Charles Kilb, and they were married in 2005. They lived joyously together for the reminder of her life. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas Eve when she hosted the entire family for the preparation and celebration of the traditional Polish Christmas Eve dinner. They were highly anticipated and the event of the year! She is survived by: her devoted husband Chuck, her sisters Janice (Larry) Eklund of Hyannis, MA; Nancy (Rick) Campbell of Glenmont; her children, William (Jeanne) of Berlin, MD; Michael (Kim) of Clifton Park; Robert (Kari) of Latham; Tricia Cietek of Watervliet; David of Mechanicville; and Jeffrey (Lynn) of Latham; her nine grandchildren, David, Dillon, Joseph, Drew, Cameron, Samantha, Michael, Rei, Thomas, and great-grandchildren Leonessa and Cooper, and her best friends, Kathy, Pat and Ping. There will be a celebration of her life on Friday, August 11th, from 11am - 1pm at Parker Brothers Funeral Home at 2013 Broadway in Watervliet, NY. Queensbury Randy Strong, 57, passed away on Friday, July 21, 2023, at his home. Born on May 10, 1966, in Glens Falls, he was the son of Margaret (Maranville) Strong and the late Gordon Strong. Randy graduated from South Glens Falls High School in 1984, while in high school he enjoyed wrestling. He was a member of the St. Therese Chapel in Gansevoort in his younger years until becoming a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Glens Falls. For over 20 years, Randy worked at Finch Paper in Glens Falls. He was a member of the Elks Lodge on Cronin Road in Queensbury. He was a South High Marathon Dance recipient in 2023. On June 1, 1991, Randy married the love of his life, Eileen McCullough at Our Lady of Annunciation in Queensbury. Randy loved country music, the New York Yankees and floating in his pool. Most importantly he loved his family, his dog, Bailey and his first grandchild, Aiden. In addition to his father, Randy was predeceased by his brothers, Fred and Jeffrey Strong; his mother and father-in-law, Francis and Patricia McCullough. Left to cherish his memory include his wife of 32 years, Eileen Strong; his children, James Strong, Jared Strong both of Queensbury, and Nicole (Conor) MacJarrett of South Glens Falls; his grandson, Aiden MacJarrett of South Glens Falls; his mother, Margaret Maranville Strong of Gansevoort; his siblings, Connie (Sheldon) Smith of Gansevoort, Tina (Paul) Mulready of Queensbury, Gordon (Kathy) Strong of Northumberland; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Gary Tofinchio of Coeymanns, NY; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter F. "Walt" Hummel, 85, of Queensbury NY, has reunited with his wife on August 6, 2023. He was born August 21, 1937 in Johnstown, PA. to Mary Louise (Whatmore) and Walter Charles Hummel. Walt joined the Navy at the age of 17 and served on many ships and at many duty stations over his 20-year Naval career, retiring as a Quartermaster 1st Class in 1973. He made his final duty station in Norfolk VA his home with his wife Joan and started his family after his retirement. He moved to NY in 1998 to be closer to his daughter and four grandchildren. Walt was very proud of his military career and enjoyed attending many ship reunions over the years and you could always find him front and center at Memorial Day parades and ceremonies, even participating in the parade riding his scooter with the local VFW Post in Queensbury. Walt loved spending time with his family, especially his four grandchildren and took several trips to Walt Disney World and many other vacations with them. He was also a diehard Washington Redskins fan. If they won, he would be in a great mood, but if they lost watch out. When he wasn't watching football, he was watching old Westerns on television. Besides his parents, Walt was predeceased by his wife of 29 years: Joan (Downs) Hummel and two brothers: John Hummel and Ronald Hummel, both of Johnstown PA. He is survived by his son: Ray Hummel of Los Angeles CA; his daughter: Kathy Stevens and her husband Chris of Cobleskill NY; his four grandchildren: Amanda Chenier of Schenectady NY, Kaitlin Ullman and her husband Adam of Bend OR, Logan Chenier of Anson ME and Zach Chenier of Norridgewock ME; two great-granddaughters: Addison and Kennedy; his brother: Robert and his sister: Alice.
