"Richard Alan Green, 74, of Lake Anna and Burke, Virginia, died on September 9, 2023 at his home. Rich was born in Dunkirk, NY to Nathaniel and Anna Green on October 17, 1948. He joined the Marines after high school and was proud to serve his country. After the Marine Corps, he joined the Metropolitan Police Department. First as an officer, then as a district detective, and finally, he retired after a 27 year long career as a homicide detective. While Rich was very proud of his professional achievements, he was most proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Stephanie Miller; his five children, Rebecca Hulun (Richard), Richard Green, Rachel Green, Lyle Miller-Green, and Samantha Miller-Green; his granddaughters, Eleanor and Madeleine; his beloved dog Yogi Bear, and other loving extended family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Friends of Homeless Animals, Aldi, VA. "

David Ray Mott, beloved husband, father, son, and uncle passed away suddenly on October 26, 2023, at his home in Burke, Virginia. David was born in Bryan, Texas on September 13, 1968, to Saundra and Arnold Mott. He grew up in the small town of Quitman, Texas. Dr. Mott was a National Merit Scholar and attended Texas A&M University on an academic scholarship. While there, he earned a BS and an MS in Aerospace Engineering. He then continued his studies at the University of Michigan where he received an MS in Applied Mathematics and a PhD in Aerospace Engineering and Scientific Computing. His work included microfluidic modeling and design methods, the incorporation of advance chemical kinetics in reactive fluid flow models, blast wave effects on body armor and the helmet/head system, and modeling of the Trident missile launch from a submarine. David was highly regarded in his role as a Supervisory Aerospace Engineer Manager at the Naval Research Lab. But David's most important role was as husband, father and son. David was known for his intelligence and kindness. He was generous and nurturing to all. Everyone was drawn by his quick wit, his kind smile and soft Texas drawl. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and support those at work, school and his community . He was admired by his coworkers for his intelligence and dedication as well as his devotion to his family. His immense curiosity led him to a myriad of hobbies and projects. He loved to draw, create costumes and decorations for Halloween, and especially help his father rebuild his beloved grandfather's 1956 red Ford pickup truck. He supported his family in all their activities, whatever they were, attending soccer games and football games (even becoming a cotton candy expert), concerts, recitals, school events, and broadway shows. He was a source of strength, and a thoughtful caretaker to those around him. He is survived by his loving wife Megan, and their two sons Aaron and Parker. He is also survived by his parents Arnold and Saundra Mott, sister Susan Waddell (Hunt), brother Larry Mott and brother Doug Tankersley (Bonnie), and numerous nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his wife's family, whose lives were immeasurably enriched by his presence. Richard (Ace) Simpson, age 72, passed peacefully during the evening of October 20, 2023. Ace was born and raised in Burke, Virginia to parents James and Teresa Simpson. Ace was preceded in death by his parents and one brother David Simpson. He is survived by his wife Teresa and Son Richard Simpson Jr. , as well as his sisters, Teresa and Nancy, and his brothers, Jim, John, Joe, and Jake. He graduated from West Springfield High School in 1970. While still enrolled in high school, he joined the Burke Volunteer Fire Company on December 1, 1966, and remained a life member. Ace joined the Prince William County Department of Fire & Rescue on April 23, 1973, and served faithfully retiring on June 30, 2003. He then committed to being a full-time father and started his side welding business some years later. He met his wife Teresa through their employment at Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue in 1989 and have been together ever since. They had one child Richard Simpson Jr. whom was his pride and joy. Currently, the family has no special requests and appreciates the support. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Fauquier SPCA. Ace was an animal lover. Funeral Arrangements:The viewing will be held at Moser Funeral Home 233 Broadview Avenue, Warrenton, VA 20186, this Wednesday, October 25th from 5 to 7 pm. The service will be at Moser Funeral home this Thursday, October 26th at 11am with interment following the service at Bright View Cemetery in Warrenton. "Kathryn Jean Ridley Boynton, (75), of Burke, Virginia, passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 22, 2023. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Dale, who passed several months prior. Kathy is remembered for her kind heart, wisdom, strength of spirit, dedicated Christian faith and service to others. She was a wonderful wife and mother. Kathy was born to John Vincent Ridley Jr. and Elizabeth Mildred Ridley on May 31, 1948, in Dallas, Texas. Kathy attended Sunset High School. She was known to be a good friend and inscriptions in her yearbook call her 'the most sincere and honest person', 'a sweet girl' and 'deserving of all the happiness'. Kathy found her happiness when meeting the love of her life, Dale Boynton, in Algebra class. They were married for 55 years and shared a fierce love for each other. In 1966, Kathy graduated from high school, while Dale was serving in Vietnam, and the couple were wed on June 1, 1968. Kathy attended classes at University of Texas. The first few years of married life were spent on campus where their first daughter was born. They moved to San Antonio, where the second and third daughter was born. They eventually moved to the Dallas area, where the fourth child, a son was born. Later, the couple moved to Burke, Virginia to raise their children. Kathy worked at JCPenney's in Springfield Mall in customer service, the gift-wrapping station and in the cash room. She actively supported the Lions Club and later became a member. She served others and generously sponsored underprivileged families at Christmas. She could be seen making long shopping lists for donations, tailoring custom gifts to each kid and lovingly wrapping each one. Kathy had a true artistic and creative spirit. She loved to attend arts and crafts shows, collected Beanie Babies, practiced calligraphy, decorated the house for the season and even decorated the lunch bags of her kids. Kathy loved music and had a robust record collection to which she would let the kids dance in the living room. In her spiritual journey, Kathy spent time in prayer, bible study, fellowship and led others to Christ. She was a faithful Christian and worshipped at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Springfield. Kathy served as a Stephen Ministry Leader to provide care to others experiencing difficult times. She trained other congregation members how to bring Christ's love and care to people in their time of need. By her example, she taught her daughters and son to have faith, compassion, and kindness. Kathy is survived by her daughters, Tracy, Melissa (Steve), Amy (Brandon); her son, Dillon (Victoria); grandchildren, John, Mackenzie, Emma, Daniel, Evan, Achilles, and Lukas. She is also survived by her brother David Ridley (Kandy), nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held for Kathy and Dale Boynton at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church on October 26, 2023, at 11:00 a. m. Lewis Cook, of Burke, Virginia passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Lewis will be remembered as a kind southern gentleman, fun-loving, generous and entirely devoted to his family. He was the youngest child of Eldred and Dorothy Cook, born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Kingsbury High School, then the University of Alabama, earning his degree in Commerce and Business Administration. After school he was employed by the Navy but took time away from work to travel and ski in Aspen and Europe. He eventually settled in Arlington, Virginia where he worked for Raleigh Haberdasher and Nordstrom's and met his wife of 43 years, Bonnie. They shared a life filled with wonderful family, neighbors, co-workers, and friends, and immersed themselves in raising their two sons, Cannon and Drew. A humble man, Lewis found the happiness in every day. He extended himself for others, while lifting the spirits of all who encountered him - always ready with a joke, a tease, or some Memphis memories. He was dapper and handsome, strong and kind, and kept the family grounded in the things that really matter in life. He is survived by his wife Bonnie; his two sons, Cannon and Drew; his brother, Derry Cook (wife Edith); his mother-in-law, Jacquelyn Spurlock; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Kevin McCarthy, and Raine and Jim Weiss; and his nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews, Heather Proffen (husband David and children Cassidy, Dash, Felicity, Adeline and Graham), Jackie Woodyard (husband Woody and children Miles, Fisher, Ellie Mae, and Ivy), JD Gerblick (wife Liz and children JR, Emma, and Shea), Michelle Siska (husband Erik and Reagan, Ainsley, and Corrine), Ryan Gerblick, Curtis Cook, Andy Cook (wife Shannon and children Davis and Caroline), Derry Cook (wife Laura and children Derry and Avery), and Troy Lucas (wife Katharine and children Brooke, Morgan and Kati).
