Pamela Daniels

Pamela Daniels

Age - 75

December 1, 2023

"Because I knew you, I have been changed for good,"-Elphaba Wicked: The MusicalThose of us who have had the opportunity to know Pam have surely felt in a deep and personal way her recent passing. She bravely battled multiple health problems for several years, with this year being the most challenging. To say that Pam was kind, generous, and compassionate was an understatement for she was all these and more. Pam was educated, primarily in Milford NH and then graduating UNH with bachelor's and master's degrees. She was industrious and when she moved to Exeter with her former husband, David Roberts, they created a successful construction company, Shelter Enterprises, collaborating for almost 50 years. Pam was empathic, providing counseling services throughout her life. She often used her counseling skills to help a young couple design their new Shelter Enterprise home. Pam was ever learning, adding massage therapy to her skill set through this time. Pam was social,, maintaining relationships from high school that have endured the test of time. She cherished her Mill friends and the coffee socials. We have an enduring gratitude for the unbelievable support through her battles from the friends in the Mill Community. Pam had a great faith fostered by her generous church family here at Exeter Methodist Church. Her devotion led to many hours of volunteer work in whatever capacity the church needed. That faith in God, Heaven and a kind afterlife were buoys for both Pam and her family. The prayer chain was strong. Church was also a special time together for Pam and her mom, who until a year and a half ago was at Pam's side in church. Pamela was artistic and a gardener. Pam was also more than a hobbyist when it came to nature photography, and her home overflowed with exceptional photographs of flowers, animals, and New Hampshire landscapes. Her Mill apartment deck garden was always a center piece for those strolling the Exeter River bank. Pam was a passionate animal advocate, never meeting a dog or a cat that she didn't like. There are tales of chipmunks sitting in her lap when she'd eat lunch outside. She found homes for several stray cats and worried about cats she'd seen around the property, hoping they had homes. Her first cat, Minx, was well trained and went everywhere with Pam on a leash. She leaves behind her precious Maine coon cat, 'Shiloh,'Pam was loved and cherished by many including: her wonderful son, Shane (his wife Sabrina Brentwood), sister Vonnie Cosgrove ( husband Phil -Merrimac, MA), Aunt Kitty Daniels (Milford, N. H. ), niece Caitlin Shepard (husband, Brian - Sandown, NH), nephew, Joshua Cosgrove (Merrimac, MA), grandniece and grandnephew, Juniper Frances and Bryson Philip whom Pam adored, and former husband, David L. Roberts. She is also survived by many cousins including: David Daniels, Thomas Daniels, Maureen Daniels, Martha Holland, Elaine Shepard, Joan Austin, Nancy St. Germaine, Janet Stuart, Colleen Foster, Patti Ingalls, Michael Stuart, and Robin Stuart. She had a special relationship with her cousin, David Locke (Palm Springs, CA). Pam was predeceased by her mom and dad (Frances and Donald Daniels), nana and pappy (Emma and Dutch Daniels), maternal grandparents (Will and Stella Wool), much loved Uncle Jack Daniels, maternal aunts, Barbara Stewart, Shirley Wool, Catherine Wool, and Esther Stuart and cousins Peter Daniels and Richard Stewart. We extend our thanks and gratitude to the wonderful nurses at Exeter Hospital who stood by Pam through these last days. You are all truly angels among us. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 11:00 at the Exeter Methodist Church 307 Epping Road Exeter, N. H. followed by a reception for all friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the New Hampshire SPCA 104 Portsmouth Avenue, Stratham, NH 03835 in memory of Pam. Angels Among UsSong by AlabamaOh, I believe there are angels among usSent down to us from somewhere up aboveThey come to you and me in our darkest hoursTo show us how to live, to teach us how to giveTo guide us with the light of loveWhen life held troubled times and had me down on my kneesThere's always been someone to come along and comfort meA kind word from a stranger to lend a helping handA phone call from a friend just to say I understandBut ain't it kind of funny at the dark end of the roadThat someone lights the way with just a single ray of hopeShow more

Joan Wade

Joan Wade

Age - 77

November 22, 2023

Joan A. Wade (ne Widman) died at Exeter Hospital on Sunday, November 19, 2023. Her husband, children, and sister were by her side as she peacefully ended her courageous battle with Small Cell Lung Cancer. A generous caregiver and gifted educator, Joan dedicated her life to helping others. Her greatest joys in life were teaching, traveling, and spending time with her family, particularly her three grandchildren. Born in Haverhill, MA, Joan spent her early years on Long Island, NY and in East Hampstead, NH. The daughter of Harold Widman and Ada (Tait) Widman and sister to Jean (Wells) and John (Jack Widman), Joan's passion for education and curiosity about the world were fostered by family and friends who valued learning, faith, and community. Joan went on to pursue her passions as a student at the University of New Hampshire and as a teacher in a number of elementary school classrooms. Joan met her husband, Rev. William S. Wade (Bill), in Exeter, NH where they began their 50 years of marriage. Together they embarked on a journey that embodied their collective commitment to the Episcopal Church, to community, and to family. Bill and Joan eventually settled in Sewanee, TN where they raised their children, Will and Tait, on the campus of St. Andrew's-Sewanee School. Joan's gift for teaching helped to chart the course for countless young people. She taught students of all ages, from toddlers at Sewanee Children's Center to teens learning English as a second language or navigating academic challenges. Joan brought her characteristic patience and skillful instruction to teaching. Most importantly, her ability to develop authentic connections ensured her students understood their value, not just as students, but as human beings in the world. While Joan navigated many complex medical challenges throughout her life, she remained steadfast in her optimism and never took herself too seriously. Her family and friends admired her subtle humor, humility, and quick wit. She used those gifts to bring joy to others until the very end. After retirement, Joan and Bill returned to her roots, building a life and home on family property in East Kingston, NH. Particularly in her latter years and final days, Joan delighted in simple pleasures - the sunset from her living room window, baking with her grandchildren, a visit to the beach with Bill, local adventures with her sister and brother-in-law, and of course, celebrating the Christmas season with her infamous Santa collection and extensive holiday decor. Joan's generous spirit, unwavering support of others, and caring heart will be missed everyday. They will no doubt endure through the lives she touched. Joan is survived by her husband, Bill; her children, Will, Tait, and daughter-in-law, Hannah; grandchildren, Delaney, Sam, and Thula; brother, Jack, and sister-in-law, Ellen; and her sister and best friend, Jean. Countless friends and family, both near and far, fondly remember Joan and already miss her dearly. The family requests that anyone who wishes to memorialize Joan with a gift does so by donating to the Cancer Research Foundation, the home of the Small Cell Lung Cancer Program . A memorial service and subsequent gathering to celebrate Joan's life will begin at 2PM on Saturday, December 9th at Christ Church in Exeter, NH.Show more

Susan graduated from Eastchester High School in Eastchester, NY, and went on to earn an undergraduate degree in history from George Washington University in 1994. After teaching at Eagle Hill School in Hardwick, MA, she returned to graduate school at the College of New Rochelle for a Master's Degree in Special Education. When Susan completed her graduate work, she moved to New Hampshire and began teaching in special education in the Concord, NH school system, eventually becoming an assistant principal in that system.
