Kim Welsh

Age - 62

December 1, 2023

Kim Allan Welsh was born on July 20, 1961, to Howard and Jeannie Welsh in Grant, Nebraska. He was the baby of the family and the only boy. He would often tell people that he "grew up on the farm". At eight years old, he moved to Imperial, Nebraska when his parents built their motel business. He worked on the Kuenning farm in high school and survived accidentally lighting himself on fire. Kim attended school at North Platte Community College and obtained an associate degree in construction. He then felt God calling him to pursue solar engineering and moved to Colorado Springs to attend Colorado Technical College. He received his associate degree in solar engineering in 1983. He moved to Greeley to work with Earth Homes where he got his start in construction. Kim and Kim Renee were married on November 22, 1986, in Greeley, Colorado. They started their family and moved to Colorado Springs in 1988 so that Kim Renee could start her career in audiology. He worked for a company that built sunrooms before he decided to create his own business. Remodeling was his main focus, but he also built additions and new homes. He was a craftsman; detailed and precise. To Kim, it was about giving his best all the time. Kim's passion for hunting was sparked by his dad. They were hunting buddies. Hunting deer, geese, ducks, and coyotes, and eventually elk, antelope, and even a mountain goat. He taught all of his children how to hunt and he was in the middle of passing that tradition on to the grandkids. This love of hunting spilled over into helping guide hunts for many friends and family members. He loved hunting, but it was more than the success of the hunt; it was about relationships. He also loved golf and skeet shooting. Kim was funny, had an amazing laugh, and loved life and all the little things in it. He was a prankster and a jokester. He'd have dreams from time to time that were significant and changed the course of his life. He had many friends and loved to talk. He served on New Life Church's security team for 5 years, a point of pride for him. He had many plans still to execute and conversations left unfinished. Kim Allan Welsh died on Nov 24, 2023, a Friday afternoon, in the middle of packing out an elk in the beautiful Colorado high country. He is preceded in death by his parents; Howard in 2023; and Jeannie in 1996. Ferdinand Litter

Ferdinand Litter

Age - 86

November 22, 2023

Ferdinand J. Litter III, Ferd, was born in 1937 in New York. He became a Civil Engineer and was immediately drafted in the Army Corps of Engineers. After his service, he worked as a Professional Engineer. Barbara Ellen Friend was born in 1938 in New York. She obtained her Master's degree in Education and became an elementary school teacher. Barbara and Ferd were introduced by mutual friends and married in 1964. They eventually moved to the suburbs in New Jersey to raise their children. Barbara gave up her teaching career to become a stay at home mother and was involved in the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and PTA. She used her love of reading and her teaching experience to work at the County Library and to eventually become an elementary school library assistant. She especially enjoyed finding the right book for each child coming into the library. Ferd was an Engineer in both his professional and personal life. He used his talents to build decks on the back and front of the house, a drainage ditch system in the yard and two bridges over these ditches. He designed the back yard to be an ideal play space for his children, including a large elevated play fort, a giant sand box framed by railroad ties and various swing sets and play equipment. Ferd was an Assistant Scout Master with the Boy Scouts of America, and guided boys of all ages to reach their maximum potential, including his own son, who became an Eagle Scout. Ferd remained in scouting long after his children moved on. Travel and love of the outdoors was their passion. Every summer they took family camping trips in the Western part of the United States and Canada, exploring the National Parks. These trips inspired their children to move out west, with their daughter moving to WA state and their son moving to Colorado. It was an easy transition for Barbara and Ferd to retire to Colorado, when their son suggested they would love it here, because they forgot that they already did. Barbara and Ferd loved the natural and artistic aspects of both Loveland and the state of Colorado. Moving to Loveland, brought them an active new chapter in their life, making new friends, frequenting the sculpture park and art shows, and hiking in the various state and national parks, including their favorite, Rocky Mountain National Park. Ferd enjoyed daily walks in the neighborhood, while Barbara volunteered weekly for Meals on Wheels for many years. One of the first things they did in Loveland, was get their library cards, and they had their weekly "library day. " And one of the last things they were still able to do together was make their weekly trip to the library. Their life was enhanced by their grandchildren. One of their greatest joys was being able to be active grandparents, taking their grandchildren to the local playgrounds, parks and especially the children's railroad near the sculpture park. Barbara and Ferd had a fulfilling and adventurous life time together. They struggled in the end with Ferd's dementia and Barbara's own health issues, but that was only a small piece of the almost sixty years of life they shared. They will be deeply missed by their family and everyone who knew them. To send a flower arrangement or to plant trees in memory of , please .Show more

The angels rejoiced on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, as Norman Theodore Bruce, age 97, gained his wings and joined our heavenly Father. Norm, the son of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Madeline Margaret Hellesen Bruce was born in Platteville, Colorado on June 2, 1926. He had an older sister Beverly, a younger brother Bill and a baby sister Lynn. He spent his early and high school years in Platteville where he lettered in football and basketball then graduated in 1944. Norm helped his dad deliver mail and worked loading sugar beets onto railroad cars. After high school he used his driving skills as a delivery man for a milk route and later for Coca Cola. One of the favorite memories from his early years was "crashing weddings". He and his friends would walk into a random wedding celebration to enjoy the food, beverages and festivities. Norm was a veteran who fought for our freedom in the Korean War. In 1951 at the age of 25 he was drafted into the Army where he served in the 6th Radio Signal Corps as a Telegraphic Typewriter Operations Chief. One of his main functions in the war was to call in the battle strike coordinates. When he returned from the war he was released directly to the local hospital where he spent several months recovering from pneumonia. He then moved to CA, where he was a quality inspector for Boeing. He loved California, but eventually returned to Colorado where he and his brother Bill started a successful drywall business and eventually transitioned into ranching. Norm, a long-time bachelor, met Bertha Autry Turner who owned a local café in Kiowa Colorado. In August of 1970 they joined together in marriage. Norm was a loving husband to Bertha. After 50 years of marriage when asked what the secret was Norman’s advice was to "marry a good cook", then he would chuckle. He did love a big plate of roast beef and mashed potatoes with gravy and of course coconut cream pie. Norm was also a loving parent to his step-children Ross, Rick and Debbi. He was a parent who, after working all day, would make sure to attend basketball games and activities in the evenings. He always showed up. Norm was a rancher and loved being outdoors. After visiting Arkansas, Norman and his brother Bill decided to relocate from Colorado because the plentiful water, grass and ranchland tugged on their heart strings. In 1970, they brought their love of ranching and their families to Omaha, Arkansas where they bought land and formed the Bruce Angus Ranch. Norman was a member of the Cattleman’s association and participated in Registered Angus shows and sales. Known as Grandpa or Papa he loved his grandkids & great grandkids. He would help them "walk on the ceiling", get down on the floor and play games, provide a cuddle and share his years of wisdom. One of his favorite things recently was sharing donuts with his great grandson Owen. It brought a smile to his face and warmed his heart. Norm was a Christian, a member of Cross Church and a son of the One True King. Norm is survived by his wife Bertha; daughters Debbi Turner, Kerri Turner and Deborah Turner; his brother Bill Bruce; his sister Lynn Starr; along with 8 grandchildren (Roscoe, Alicia, Riley, Rhett, Casey, Tanner, Gary & Amber) and 8 great-grandchildren (Rowen, Royston, Arabella, Ashlyn, Raelyn, Brayden, Joshua, Gavin).
