Katie Bell Bush Minor, affectionately known as "Mamaw" and "Aunt Kay" passed away Sunday, December 3, 2023, at her home at the age of 89 years. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, December 7, 2023, at 2:00 PM et at Philadelphia Baptist Church with Pastor Clay Duck officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with Ronnie Kilpatrick, George Sports, David Craft, Earl Palmer, Phillip Askew, and David Askew serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Katie was born August 7, 1934, in Phenix City, Alabama to the late Herbert and Iva Ethel Lloyd Bush. She had many accomplishments over the years, including driving a school bus for Lee County schools, doing extensive carpentry work, delivering flowers for Nosegay Florist, and most importantly being a homemaker. In her leisure time she enjoyed taking trips, attending gospel singing, bowling, going out to eat with her friends, playing dominoes with friends, and piddling in her yard. She was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church, and the VFW ladies axillary. Mrs. Minor will be best remembered as an outgoing person. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Luther Minor; a son, Otis L. "Bubba" Minor; sisters, Kathleen Askew, Alice Butler, and Eren Amerson. Surviving are her children; Danny (Charlene) Minor and Jane Eastridge. 5 grandchildren; Tina Pace, Tara Santa Ana, Summer (Derek) Goodroe, Kacie (Dustin) Antrobus, and David Craft. 7 great grandchildren; Hailey (Madison) Lafferty, Cason Santa Ana, Kendall Pace, Tatum Goodroe, Ty Goodroe, Hunter Antrobus, and Fysher Antrobus; 1 great great grandchild, Bella Layman, numerous nieces and nephews. Jewel Irene Keller Massey, 91, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully late Thursday evening, November 30, 2023, at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST on Friday, December 8, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Boyd Cochran and Rev. Chris Medley officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, December 7, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm EST at the funeral home in Phenix City. Mrs. Massey was born November 13, 1932, in Parkdale, AL to the late Sumpter Floyd Keller and Allie Mae Brown Keller. For many years, she served as as a nurse's aide with Cobb Memorial Hospital in Phenix City, Baptist Hospital in Beaumont, TX, Phenix Health Care, and Canterbury Health Care, both in Phenix City. But one of her greatest joys was owning her own daycare and helping with children for more than 20 years. She loved traveling and singing with the Sounds of Faith Gospel Group. She enjoyed church fellowship, gospel singings, family gatherings, and sharing special times with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was Pentecostal by faith and a member of Pierce Chapel Assembly of God Church in Phenix City. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Robert Arnold Massey, Sr. ; a son, Jerry Lee Massey, four sisters, Edna Moore, Betty Jo Colbert, Verlie Thomason, and Nell Gowan, brother, Floyd Keller, and one grandson, Jeremiah Massey. She is survived by her daughter, Deborah Massey Medley; two sons, Robert Arnold Massey, Jr. , and Timothy Woodrow Massey all of Phenix City, AL; one sister, Frances McDurmont (Wayne) of Smiths Station, AL; four grandchildren, Rev. Chris Medley (Rev. Ali Medley), Alison Powell, Chance Massey, and Shelley Massey; (10) great grandchildren, and host of nieces and nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.Show more
