Richard Milton Croxdale (94) passed away at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, FL on Sunday, April 14, 2019. Richard was born in Laurens, S.C. to Charles and Minnie Croxdale on June 13, 1924. He was a WWII (Army/ Air Force) veteran having served in North Africa, Italy, France, Belgium and Germany. He met and married Alma Lee Bishop in Orlando, Fl in 1946. After stops in Korea, Maryland, Georgia, Taiwan, Minnesota and Texas for the military and civil service they ended up in Orange Park, FL where he was employed at Jacksonville NAS for several years before retirement. He was an Orange Park resident for 48 years. Mr. Croxdale was a member and very active in the First Baptist Church of Orange Park as an usher and Sunday school teacher for many years. Richard was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf, fishing, vegetable gardening and watching all sports, especially the Atlanta Braves when they were winning. He is survived by his sons, Richard of Austin, Texas and David of Orange Park, FL. Grandchildren; Jennifer, David, Paul and Christopher Croxdale and Kara Marlowe all of Ohio and Tillie Croxdale of Austin, Texas. Also surviving are sister Betty Stevens of Union, S.C. and sister-in-law Patricia Johnson of Tallahassee, FL and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his wife Alma, granddaughter Bethany, great grandson Branden Cassells-Croxdale, parents Charles and Minnie Croxdale, brother, Howard Croxdale and sister Virginia Turner, all of Spartanburg, S.C. There will be a private service with full military honors at a later date.
