Richard E "Dick" Buckley, 94, of Bruin, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife of 72 years, his family and his most faithful companion, Platinum, late Saturday evening, October 7, 2023 Richard was born on August 12, 1929 in Bruin He was the son of the late Paul E and Helen A Neal Buckley He graduated from Bruin High School in 1947 He is survived by his wife, Raelene J Rudolph Buckley The couple was married at the Bruin Presbyterian Church on December 4, 1950 Dick was a U S Army veteran and served during the Korean War from 1951-1953 Dick was the last surviving charter member of Bruin Volunteer Fire Department and through out the many years of service to the fire department he held many administrative offices He was long time active member of the Martinsburg Church of Bruin where he served as a trustee and elder Dick was employed for more than 44 years by Koppers in Petrolia and belonged to the U S Steelworkers Union He retired in 1991 He was a member of Parker Allegheny Canby Lodge #521 F&AM in Parker, and The Consistory Valley of New Castle and had been a long time member of the former Miller-Rankin American Legion Post in Foxburg He enjoyed golfing, hunting and watching Pittsburgh sports on TV with his dog by his side In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by two daughters, Cathy L Ryan and her husband, Russell, of Fairview and Marcy L Buckley of Bruin; three grandsons, Matthew Ryan and his wife, Sarah, of Bloomsburg, Michael Ryan and his wife, Kendra, of Fairview and Mark Ryan of Butler; a granddaughter, Renee L Buckley, Chief Petty Officer, USN Norfolk, VA; two great grandsons, Zane and Landon Ryan; two great granddaughters, Lydia and Chloe Ryan; a brother, William C Buckley of Canfield, OH; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gary and Beth Rudolph of Cochranton and his faithful companion, "Platinum," as well as a number of nieces, nephews and cousins To to the family or in memory of Richard E "Dick" Buckley, please

Frederick Leroy "Fred" Slagle, 77, of Rockingham, NC, formerly of Butler, passed away in the comfort of his home while in the company of his loving wife Thursday morning, November 30, 2023. Frederick was born in Kittanning on March 25, 1946. He was the son of Elsie Anderson Slagle and the late Jerry L. Slagle. He was a 1964 graduate of Ford City High School. He was a star baseball pitcher who dreamed of the major leagues. Fred was a proud U. S. Army veteran having served in Vietnam and was a Bronze Star recipient in an operation that also received a Medal of Honor. Fred enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing, outdoors and working in his yard. When his wife could not find him, he could often be found on his tractor. He watched baseball daily, was an avid Yankees fan and lamented the time between seasons as the worst part of every year. He had retired from UPS as a delivery driver which he usually enjoyed, except for the holiday rush. Fred is survived by his wife, Sonya McGuire Slagle, whom he married in Las Vegas, NV on May 22, 1998. Mildred Kathleen "Kathy" Whitmore, 72, of Knox, passed away in the comfort of her home while in the company of her loving family on Sunday morning, November 26, 2023. Mildred Kathleen was born in Grove City on November 8, 1951. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Margaret Karnes Thorhauer. She attended school at A-C Valley. Kathy was an avid bowler. She enjoyed cooking, canning, hunting, fishing and playing cards, especially with her grandkids. Kathy had been employed by K-Mart, Trader Horn, Uni-Mart, Sharp Shopper and worked construction with her husband, Dennis. She is survived by her husband, Dennis G. Whitmore, whom she married in Clarion on April 27, 2001. Also surviving are three daughters, Sharon L. Shattenberg and her husband, Kirk, of Brookville, Jackie Rapp and her husband, Steve, of Marble, and Diane Lannigan and her husband, Kevin, of Shippenville; four step children, Trina M. Alcorn and her husband, Greg, of Columbus, GA, Holly D. Sleigher and her husband, Nicholas, of Rimersburg, Valorie Miller and her husband, Harold, of Mayport, and Dennis G. Whitmore Jr. and his wife, Tiffany, of Shippenville; her grandchildren, Derek and Brooke Shattenberg, Corey and Alex Rapp, Cheyenne and Dakota Lannigan; a great grandson, Dustin; her step grandchildren, Alex and Austin Alcorn, Haden and Blade Sleigher, Reba, Ginny, and Rachel Miller, Rachel G. Cynthia L. Waldroup, 70, of East Brady, passed away peacefully while in the company of her family on Sunday evening, November 12, 2023 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Cynthia was born in Butler on November 29, 1952. She was the daughter of the late Betty Margaret Greenawalt Reighard. She was a graduate of East Brady High School. Cindy was a devoted homemaker and a long time active member the Criswell Bible Baptist Church. Her greatest joy was found in being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Cindy looked forward to family vacations at the Outer Banks. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Donald M. Waldroup, who passed away on October 18, 2023. She is survived by three sons, R. Mark Waldroup and his wife, Patricia, of Cabot, Todd E. Waldroup and his wife, Brandy L. , of Fenelton, and Matthew S. Waldroup and his wife, Kristy, of Rochester; her grandchildren, Jacob and Gabrielle Waldroup, and Marissa Healy and her husband, Todd, Morgan Christman and her husband, Thomas, and Mitchell and Liam Waldroup; two great grandchildren, Caleb and Mya; a brother, Robert James Reighard and his wife, Dang, of Texas; a sister, Katherine Diane McCaslin and her husband, John, of Poland, OH; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mary and Charles Stowe, Emma Waldroup, and Marjorie Waldroup, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Bernice M. Meissner, 70, of Butler, passed away in the company of her loving family Saturday afternoon, November 4, 2023 at Sunnyview. Bernice was born in Butler on July 19, 1953. She was the daughter of the late Henry J. Jr. and Catherine L. Heasley Le Grand. She attended Butler schools and was a 1993 graduate of Butler County Community College where she earned an associate degree in psychology. She had also obtained her nurses aid certification and had been employed at Sunnyview for 20 years. Bernice was an avid Steeler fan, and enjoyed flower gardening, music, watching the news on TV, spending time on Facebook, and most especially the company of her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard M. Meissner, whom she married in Fenelton on August 9, 1991. Surviving are three children, Raymond A. Gurner Jr. , Damian N. Gurner, Tiffany A. Meissner; two grandchildren, Destiny and Dylan Gurner; her siblings, Lorraine Cottage (Ronald) and Larry Le Grand Sr. , Henry J. Le Grand III (Barbara), Beverly Undercuffler (Howard), Theresa Kepple, Richard Le Grand Sr. (Lynn); her mother-in-law, Kathleen Meissner, all of Butler, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Shirley A. Nevel, 88, of Stone Church Road, Emlenton, a retired A-C Valley school teacher, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, November 1, 2023 at Parker Personal Care. Shirley was born in Emlenton on October 5, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Sara Milford McNany. She was a 1953 graduate of Emlenton High School, and earned a B. S. in Elementary Education at Clarion State College. Shirley began her teaching career in New Castle in 1957, and in 1960, she taught at the Mars Area Elementary School, she began her career at A-C Valley in 1964, teaching at both Parker and Emlenton Elementary Schools. After 17 years of teaching kindergarten, she retired from the Parker Elementary School in 1989, where she had earned the respect of the district's parents, students, and staff. Shirley was a longtime, active member of the Scrubgrass Stone Church in Emlenton. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed the company of her grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. "Pete" Nevel, who passed away on October 20, 2012. Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey C. Nevel and his wife, Lori, of Pittsburgh, and Mark A. Nevel and his wife, Jamie, of Emlenton; three grandchildren, Nicole, Ethan, and Eric; two brothers, Harold McNany and Paul McNany; two sisters-in-law, Lin McNany and Marlene McNany, all of Emlenton; as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Russell McNany, and a sister-in-law, Louise McNany. A private funeral service, officiated by the Rev. Dennis Barger will be held at the Hile Funeral Home Inc. in Emlenton. Interment will be beside her husband in the Scrubgrass Stone Church Cemetery in Scrubgrass Township, Venango County. Donald M. Waldroup, 80, of East Brady, passed away peacefully while in the company of his family on Wednesday evening, October 18, 2023 at Butler Memorial Hospital. Donald was born in Titusville on March 15, 1943. He was the son of the late Wayne C. and Genevieve N. Say Waldroup. He was a 1962 graduate of Fairview Twp. Karns City High School. Donald had been employed by American Hardware, Servistar, and later as a forklift operator for Paragon. He retired from the mailroom at USIS in Boyers. Don enjoyed hunting and canoeing. He was a long time active member of the Criswell Bible Baptist Church and was faithful in his support of Christian missionaries around the world. Don was a proud United States Navy veteran, having served his country during the Vietnam era as a radioman (RM3) aboard the USS Wright in the Atlantic at a duty station in Keflavic, Iceland. While serving the Navy, Don was a member of the Blue Jackets Great Lakes Naval Choir. He was a member of the Harrisburg American Legion Post. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Cindy L. Reighard Waldroup; three sons, R. Mark Waldroup and his wife, Patricia, of Cabot, Todd E. Waldroup and his wife, Brandy L. , of Fenelton, and Matthew S. David T. "Tom" McGinnis, 74, of Knox, passed away peacefully Friday, October 13, 2023 in the comfort of his home while in the company of his loving wife. David was born in Franklin on August 27, 1949. He was the son of Mae Gordon McGinnis of Emlenton and the late David Z. "Mac" McGinnis. He was a 1967 graduate of Allegheny-Clarion Valley High School in Foxburg and a 1977 graduate of Grove City College, where he had earned a degree in business and accounting. He was a U. S. Navy veteran and a long-time active member of the Meridian Road Seventh Day Adventist Church. He was employed for a number of years as a corporate vice president of Picway Shoes. David traveled extensively for the company including China, Hong Kong, and Europe. He was a later employed as a real estate broker and instructor and retired from retail sales with Bed, Bath, and Beyond on McKnight Road in Pittsburgh. Dave enjoyed fishing, tent camping for many years with his wife, traveling, reading, singing, cooking, and the company of his faithful companions, "Lucy and Ziggie. " In addition to his mother, David is survived by his wife, Nancy Double McGinnis, whom he married in Pensicola, Florida on June 22, 1970. Also surviving are two sons, David E. McGinnis (Eileen Creassic) of Boardman, OH and Patrick T. McGinnis and his wife, Kerri, of Emlenton; a granddaughter, Emma M. M.
