Carolyn Vallette, 87, lifelong resident of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024.Memorial service will be 11:00 am Monday, March 4, at Faith Temple Church, 2121 W. 33rd Street Sioux Falls, SD. Family will greet friends one hour prior.Carolyn Johnson, daughter of Elmer and Marian (Lindstrom) Johnson was born February 15, 1937 in Sioux Falls, SD. She graduated from Washington High School in 1955.She married the love of her life, Larry Dean Vallette on May 28, 1977 at Augustana Lutheran Church. She worked at Davis Taylors and Sioux Valley Hospital in the Dietary as a nutritionist and cook. She worked at Sioux Valley/Sanford Hospital for 40 years retiring in 2014.She was a longtime member of Faith Temple Church. She so enjoyed going for the message and the people. When her health began to decline, she listened every Sunday morning to the worship’s services on the radio.Carolyn enjoyed shopping, baking, cooking, her grand daughters were the light of her life. She loved them so much with everything that she had she loved them. She was a homebody. Loved to be home. She took a lot of pride in her home and family.Grateful for having shared her life are her children, Carissa (Ryan) Grewe and their twins, Ashlyn and Brooklyn, Tea, SD; step children, Lori (Jon) Ertz, Sioux Falls, SD, David Vallette living in Utah, Angie Towers living in Washington; a sister, Virginia Kroger, Sioux Falls, SD; and a nephew, Steve Johnson, Sioux Falls, SD.She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Larry Vallette; and a brother, Doug Johnson.

Phyllis (Klemme) Jerke, 89, died on February 26, 2024, in Sioux Falls surrounded by loved ones. Phyllis grew up near the Scotland-Olivet dred and married Don Jerke in 1955. In 1960, they started Jerke Construction Company in Sioux Falls. Phyllis remained active in the company until her death. Phyllis was a faithful member of Memorial Lutheran Church and will be remembered by a host of family, friends, and charitable organizations.Funeral services will take place at Memorial Lutheran on Monday, March 4, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with burial and lunch to follow. Isis was a devoted mother of the late Sherif Boutros, and Hani Boutros of SD, where she resided the last several years. She was the loving grandmother of Adam and family, Mason, and Alexis and family. Isis was the sister of the late Fareed Samuel, his daughter Dalia and family, and his son Dr. Rafik. She was the sister of Paulette Bishay, wife of the late Dr. Raafat Bishay and mother of Rami and family, and Tery and family. Jason attended Seminole High School, in Sanford FL, where he was a member AFJROTC, graduating in 1994.Jason lived in the Sanford/Orlando area for most of his life, where he worked various jobs.In 2016 he joined his family in Rapid City, where he worked for Wal Mart and most recently Loves Truck Stop in Box Elder.Jason's' hobbies included playing on line video games, painting, and making bull whips. Jason is survived by his mother: Patricia Holmgren; step-father: Charles Holmgren; sister :Maegan Starr; brother: Michael Starr, all of Box Elder, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his aunt: Kathy Peavy; uncle: William Best; and grandparents.In lieu of flowers his family asks that donations be made to any charitable organization in his memory.

     Dolores Joyce Bohning, age 89, of Worthington, MN, passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD.        Dolores was born on January 13, 1935, in Worthington, MN, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Finke) Onken. She grew up on the family farm near Reading, MN and attended country school. Dolores graduated from Worthington High School in 1951 where she excelled on the tumbling squad and then did clerical studies at Worthington Junior College.     Dolores married Marlin Bohning on July 28, 1955, at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Wilmont, MN and they made their home in Worthington. She worked at Gordon Drug Store and then at Dr. Carlson and Dr. Hoevet Ophthalmology (later Worthington Ophthalmology) until her retirement. Dolores was active in the American Legion Auxiliary and Color Guard and enjoyed working part time as a bartender at the Legion Club. She was a cancer survivor and participated in the relay-for-life. Dolores volunteered at her church and the hospital. She liked to stay busy and enjoyed bowling, baking and canning, and spending time with family and friends.     Dolores is survived by her son, Bruce Bohning of Worthington, MN; daughter, Jill (Dean) Anderson of Le Sueur, MN; granddaughter, Katie (Matt) Breitigan of Oronoco, MN, and grandson, Lucas Anderson of Le Sueur, MN.     She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marlin; two sisters, Lorraine Erichson and Luella Stolzenberg; brother, Myron Onken; daughter-in-law, Joni Bohning, and infant daughter, Beth Ann.     Visitation will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Worthington, MN, with Father Tim Biren officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Worthington, MN.     Benson Funeral Home in Worthington is in charge of the arrangements.

Arthur "Art" Charles Jones, age 74, of Garretson, SD, passed away Sunday, February 25th, 2024 at Dougherty Hospice in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial service will be at 11:00 AM Friday, March 1st, 2024 at Zion Lutheran Church in Garretson, SD, with Pastor Corey Scott officiating. Private family burial will take place prior to the service at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 29th, 2024 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Minnehaha Funeral Home in Garretson, SD. Art was born on March 19, 1949 in Huron, SD to Charles and Vivian (Lakner) Jones. At the young age of 17, Art became a dad to Michelle in 1966. He graduated from Lake Preston High School in 1967. In 1968, Art, first wife, Linda (Falla) and baby Michelle moved to Des Moines, Iowa where Art took classes at Iowa College of Automation, graduating in 1970. They then moved to Grimes, Iowa where they built a new home. Art then accepted a job with Green Construction and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska to work on the Alyeska Pipeline. In 1974, Chadwick was born. Art worked on the pipeline until October 1976. The family then transferred back to Ankeny, Iowa for one year before moving to Garretson SD in 1977. Art went to work for Wohlenberg Gage Accounting firm in Sioux Falls and was employed there for three years. At that point, he purchased the computer center from them and started Accountants Data Service (ADS), which he owned until 1996, when he sold the business. Art worked for Pederson Commodities until 2000. He then started working for Frontline Crop Solutions selling crop insurance and started his own commodity business in conjunction with Scott and Eric Bly, whom he had a very successful relationship with. Art retired January 2024. In 1985, Art married Brenda Temple of Parker, SD. To this union Hilary was born in 1986 and Katie in 1988. His four children have given him 12 grandchildren. Art was always an avid hunter of geese, duck and deer and was proud to have fished in at least 11 states. Art also played many years of slow pitch softball before taking up golf and always enjoyed a good game of pinochle with the boys. Until his health declined, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and golfing. His main enjoyment, however, was watching his children and grandchildren in sporting and musical events. Art was active in the community. He served on the River Ridge Golf Course board and was with the Garretson Volunteer Fire Department for 11 years. Art is survived by his wife, Brenda; children: Michelle (Marty) Strasburg of Volga, SD; Chad (Leah) Jones of Garretson, SD; Hilary (Tyler) Uecker of Bonesteel, SD; and Katie Severson of Volga, SD. Grandchildren: Jase Strasburg, Nick (Elle) Strasburg, Logan Strasburg, Anna Jones, Jake Jones, Taylor Brooks, Steven Brooks, Layla Uecker, Vayda Uecker, Tenley Severson, Declan Severson, and Bodee Severson. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family, which will be directed to the Garretson Fire Department, Garretson Post 23 American Legion and the Blue Dragon Foundation.
