Richard E. Bethel, 80, of Winfield Park, NJ, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Saturday, May 6, 2023, with his family by his side. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Visitation at Werson Funeral Home, 635 North Wood Avenue, Linden, on Thursday, May 11th from 5 PM to 8 PM. There will be a Funeral Service for Richard on Friday, May 12th at the funeral home at 11 AM. Interment will follow in Rahway Cemetery, Rahway, NJ. Rich was born to Edgar and Francis Elizabeth (Cole) Bethel in Summit, NJ, grew up in Roselle, NJ, and raised his family in Cranford, NJ, before moving back to Winfield Park 15 years ago. He was employed as a Journeyman in the Amalgamated Lithographers Union, Local 1 in NYC for over 40 years. Rich loved snowmobiling, watching car racing, car shows, "tinkering" with old muscle cars, family vacations, days at the beach, ice fishing in the winter, cruises with his wife, spending time in Florida, hunting, and the outdoors. He was also a loyal NY Giants fan. Rich loved spending time with all his family, whether it be house visits or vacations together. He will always be remembered as a truly Good Man, a Loving and Devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Pop Pop, and will be greatly missed. Rich was predeceased by his parents, Frances Elizabeth and Edgar Bethel, and his brother, Jim Bethel. Surviving is his beloved wife of 61 years, Eileen (Soos) Bethel, his 3 loving children, Linda Bethel Consulmagno, Alan Bethel and his wife Jackie, and Richard Bethel and his wife Cait, his brother Billy bethel and his wife Lucy, sister-in-law, Susan Bethel Hess, his 6 cherished grandchildren, Kristin Fowler and her husband Gregory, Brittany Consulmagno, Alanis Bethel, Collin Bethel, Caleb Betheland Aubrey Bethel, and four great grandchildren, Madison Miranda, Jayden Fowler, Olivia Fowler, and Nora Lanza.
