Mary Dishman

Age - 89

Mary Virginia Dishman passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 25 th, one month shy of her 90 th Birthday. Her daughter was at her side. Mary, affectionately known as (Mooey) was born in Bloomington Springs, TN. She is survived by her daughter, Pamela Dishman, Hendersonville, TN. , Brother, Ben Skimmiehorn, Bloomington Springs, TN, and Brother-in-law Letcher Dishman (Brenda)and many nieces and nephews. On January 11, 1948, she was buried with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in baptism at the Baxter Church of Christ. Mary married Roy Estes Dishman on September 20, 1950. In 1954 they welcomed their daughter, Pamela Regina Dishman. It was devastating for Mary and Pam when Roy passed away unexpectedly on November 20, 1996. Mary's career included working for Washington Manufacturing and Opryland Hotel. She was the first female promoted to supervise the Cutting Room Department at Washington Manufacturing. When Washington Manufacturing closed, Mary applied for a position at Opryland Hotel. Within months she was promoted into a supervisory position. For many years, Mary was an avid gardener. She grew tomatoes, okra, squash and flowers. Many weekends involved canning and freezing for the winter. Mary had a tender heart for others. She was creative behind the scenes when helping others yet remained anonymous and never revealed her identity. After retiring, Mary was introduced to a new world. Having no exposure to Disney World, she was fascinated by the sight of this magical place. Watching her turn into a child, as she rode the "Dumbo" ride with her Great Goddaughter was so touching and a memory that her daughter will never forget. Mary was blessed with kind and supportive people in her life. The family would like to acknowledge the following individuals. Kira Spears

Age - 36

Kira Leigh Spears was born at Westside Hospital in Nashville the evening of June 19, 1987. She was raised in East Nashville and graduated from East High Magnet in May 2005. She moved to Chattanooga to attend the University of Tennessee, where she received a Bachelor of Science in both chemistry and biology. After graduation, she chose to remain, where she purchased a home, worked a variety of jobs, and gathered many wonderfully unique friends. It was while living in Chattanooga she was diagnosed with Primary Biliary Cirrhosis, which ultimately was her cause of death on November 26, 2023. She is survived by her daughter (Grace), mom and dad, paternal grandparents, two brothers, two sisters, four nephews, four nieces, five aunts, one uncle, and thirteen immediate cousins. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, grandmothers, two uncles, one aunt, and a cousin. Celebration of Life service is pending and will be announced on her Facebook page.Show more

Helen Hoffelt

Age - 104

Helen Marie Hoffelt died on November 27, 2023, in Nashville, Tennessee. She was born in Braidwood, Illinois to John and Della (Rogers) Ghilain on August 30, 1919. She earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at Illinois Wesleyan University, where she met fellow music major Robert Oral Hoffelt. They were married in 1943. Helen taught piano on the faculty of Drake University and then privately for over 40 years. She was a member of Delta Omicron music sorority for over 80 years and of the PEO sisterhood for more than 70 years. She was a volunteer in the early years of the Interfaith Dental Clinic in Nashville, and she was a member of McKendree United Methodist Church from 1964 - 1985. Since 1985, she was an active member of Belle Meade United Methodist Church. She is survived by two sons, three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. On December 10, 2023, a gathering of friends to celebrate and remember her life will be held at Belle Meade United Methodist Church, in the church lounge at 9:00 a. m. A graveside service will be held in Wilmington, Illinois. Memorials may be made to the music fund of Belle Meade United Methodist Church.Show more

Mrs. Kyong "Sunny" Haston of Nashville, TN passed away November 30, 2023, at the age of 69 years. She was a seamstress, owning her own business, enjoyed gardening and cooking, and dearly loved her family. She has always been known for her kindness and generosity toward others in the community. Mrs. Haston was a strong woman, independent and fearless. She is preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, James Haston and is survived by her 2 daughters, Katherine Haston and Jessica Haston (Rory Mullins); grandchildren, Gabriel and Gavin Lanier, and her mother-in-law, Jessie Haston. The family will receive friends at West Harpeth Funeral Home 6962 Charlotte Pike, Nashville, TN on Tuesday, December 5th between the hours of 4 and 8pm, and again on Wednesday, December 6th from 9am until the service time at 11am. Interment will follow the service at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens.Show more

Karen Sillings Shade, 67, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee. Karen was born to Norval Sillings and Nora Sillings Capell on May 22, 1956 in Mobile, Alabama. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, Karen joyfully spent her time serving others, and sharing the good news from the Bible. She was known for her generosity and cheerful heart, and loved to spend time with her family and friends. She will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her father, Norval Sillings. Karen is survived by her husband, David Shade; son, Ryan Shade; daughters, Jennifer Jones (Joshua) and Kristen Myers (Jeremy); grandchildren, Keely Shade, Parker Shade, Simon Jones, Piper Jones, Violet Jones, and Braxton Myers; mother, Nora Sillings Capell; brother, Kenneth Sillings (Pam); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and other cherished family and friends. A graveside service will be held in Pine Crest Cemetery on Dauphin Island Parkway in Mobile, Alabama.Show more

Jean S. Collette was born January 21st 1944, and passed away November 28th 2023. She was a native of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin and resided in Antioch, Tennessee. She retired from Checkprinters Corporation. Jean is preceded in death by her husband Sam Donald Collette; parents George Schepp and Lucille Staley; brothers Richard Schepp, Robert Schepp, Allan Schepp, Lawrence Schepp; and a grandson, Joseph Collette Jr. She is survived by sister Joan Beard of Wisconsin; daughter, Donna Collete-Mabry and son-in-law Billy Mabry of Nashville; son, Joseph Collette and daughter-in-law Mistye Collette of Woodbury, Tennessee. She is also survived by grandchildren, Dillan Collette, Damon Collette, Jeffrey Wheeler II, Hayden Mabry, Devin Mabry, Travis Mabry, and Kermit Peebles; Great Grandchildren, Sophia Wheeler, Jeffrey Wheeler III, Drinix Peebles, Drayden Peebles, Briette Peebles, Norah Collette, Larissa Collette, Brantley Abel Mabry, Emma Mabry, and Tommy Collette; as well as many nieces and nephews. Jean Collette loved the Holidays with family the most. She enjoyed listening to music by Elvis Presley and Gospel Music by Jimmy Fortune. She was raised Catholic but enjoyed any denomination that loved and preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her favorite scriptures were the 23rd Psalm and our Lord's Prayer from Matthew's Gospel. She loved her children, grandchildren, and her great grandchildren dearly. She loved the pets she had in the home but especially "Batman", the cat. She loved working puzzles on her computer. She loved good BBQ, Cheese Curds from Wisconsin, and ANY chocolate she could get her hands on. She loved to travel. She loved the Golden Girls and The Andy Griffith Show. James Ray Fryer, age 89, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023. James was born in Springfield, Tennessee Sunday, April 15, 1934. He is preceded in death by his parents, William Wallace and Mary Elizabeth Lee Fryer; sisters, Hazel Marie Jones, Dorothy Lee Shoulers and Violet Ruth Mullins, Margaret Allen; brothers, Hillard Fryer, Billy Fryer, S T Fryer, Bobby Fryer; son-in-law, Dennis Sims. Vice President of Holt Brothers Carpets and member of First Baptist Church Hendersonville, he survived by his wife, Dorothy Dean Mims Fryer; daughter, Marjorie K. Scott is survived by his long term girlfriend of sixteen years Sonia Rosario. His parents Carol and Daniel Dickey his two children Christopher Dickey, and Kayla Hendren (Dickey) a bonus daughter Jennifer Rosario. Billy Houston Faulkner, a beloved husband, brother, and friend, passed away on November 20, 2023, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew him. He was born September 10, 1936, in Rutherford County, TN. Preceded in death by father Clyde Faulkner, mother Ethel Stacey Faulkner and sister, Jane Elizabeth Lee. Survived by loving wife of 63 years Janice Lovelace Faulkner; brother, John (Betty) Faulkner. Throughout his life, Billy found joy in various hobbies and interests. He had a green thumb and took pleasure in growing vegetables and tending to his garden. One of Billy's favorite pastimes was attending races. The exhilaration of witnessing cars speeding fueled his spirit with excitement and thrill. His enthusiasm for racing was infectious, often encouraging others to join him in enjoying this heart-pounding sport. But above all else, Billy's heart belonged to his wife Janice Faulkner. Their love story spanned an impressive 63 years of shared adventures and unwavering commitment to one another. A graveside service to honor Billy H.
