Gaffney - Rebekkah Anne Wood, Becky," of Gaffney, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, April 21, 2023, at the Upstate Community Hospice House in Landrum, SC. Ms. Wood was born July 14, 1932, in Cherokee County. She graduated from Gaffney High School and then attended Limestone College, where she took several business courses. Ms. Wood then attended Cecil''s Business School, graduated, and began her career at Celanese Fiber in Earl, N. C. She worked as the Executive Secretary to the Plant Manager for twenty years and then retired after a great career in the business industry. Following her retirement, Ms. Wood worked briefly at the U. S. Postal Service in Spartanburg, S. C. Ms. Wood loved her family and she was very generous to her nieces and nephews. Being the former captain of her high school basketball team, she loved attending sporting events that her nieces and nephews participated in and she was an avid cheerleader for each of them in their individual sports, whether on the court or on the field. Ms. Wood was known for making a hearty breakfast for brother Maynard and she was a witty person, entertaining her family at family events. On most Friday nights, you could find her playing the Rook card game with her two sisters and her brother-in-law, enjoying the lively competition and laughing and joking at the strategies used to win by both teams. Moreover, when her brother-in-law and nephew had their political elections, you could find Ms. Wood glued to the radio, listening to the results coming in and tallying each precinct precisely, looking for victory, while enjoying a ritual spaghetti dinner and her favorite Ginger Ale. Ms. Wood was an immaculate person who took great care of herself, making sure that she visited her hairdresser each week. If you knew her, you knew that she did not like change, so she often sported white outfits that came from her favorite shopping site, Aug W. Smith, and she carried signature Aigner handbags and adorned herself with Aigner sandals from her favorite shopping site as well. Ms. Wood drove white vehicles and her last car was an exceptional Cadillac sedan. She loved traveling to the beach with her family and going out to eat with family members. During the weekdays, you could find her watching All My Children, her favorite soap opera, and if you happened by her home later in the afternoon, you could often find Ms. Wood working in the yard, tending to her flowers. Ms. Wood was a member of First Baptist Church in Gaffney, SC. Ms. Wood was pre-deceased by her father, the late Maynard Wood, her mother, the late Susie Lee Cash Wood, her brother, the late Jon Zeb Wood, her sister, the late Fronneau Wood Little, and her sister, the late Charlotte Victoria Wood Hartman; all whom she loved and cherished. Ms. Wood is survived by a brother Maynard Wood, of Gaffney, two sisters, Jackie Cole, of Manchester, Georgia, and Lee Jones (Larry), of Blacksburg, a sister-in-law, Sheila Wood, of Gaffney; nieces Quincie Moore (Steve), Queenie Hall (Doug), Dixie Saunders, Libby Taylor (Greg), Georgia Bunzendahl (Jim), Laura Smith (Mark), Lana Hames (Justin); nephews Quay Little (Chrissy), Jimps Cole (Marsha), Trip Hartman (Catrina Solomon), Tim Hartman (Brandi), Zeb Vance Wood, and Larry Jones (Meghan).
