Rebecca Jule Painter (nee Condon) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rebecca Jule Painter on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Mackenzie Health Hospital in Richmond Hill, at the age of 91. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Jack, and her sister Joan Frazer. Rebecca is survived by her three children, Denise (Neil), Eric (Janice), and Lyle, her grandchildren, Meagan (Brad), Rhiannon, Michelle, and Alex, and her great-granddaughter, Tiffany. She is greatly missed by her brother Bryce and sister Audrey. Rebecca was born on January 11, 1932 to Thomas and Edna Condon in Toronto, Ontario. Growing up, her family loved music. With her father and siblings, Bryce and Joan, they formed a musical group where she played the Hawaiian guitar. On November 4, 1950 she married Jack Leonard Painter, which led to nearly 49 years of marriage to the love of her life. In 1954, Rebecca started her own graphic arts business, in which she was actively involved for approximately forty years. Then she worked for the then City of North York, and as a very active senior worked several years at Career/LifeSkills Resources. Family was always welcome at Rebecca and Jack's Haliburton Lake cottage, where their three children and their grandchildren have many fond memories. Prior to owning the cottage, they spent the summer season camping and travelled throughout Ontario with their three children. Their favourite place to visit was Algonquin Park, particularly the logging trail. She will be remembered for her strong love for her family, her love of gardening and the many hours she spent in her garden, her love of baking and sharing these treats with her family and friends, and for all of the stories she shared from her life. Rebecca was a creative soul in many ways, making her own festive decorations, sewing dresses, including beautiful sun dresses that were sent overseas, and always keeping her home looking beautiful. She was always active, taking up line dancing as a senior and bowling in a league in her younger years, and continuing to want to keep moving and active throughout her life. In her later years, she knit hundreds of beautiful hats and sweaters, and was always found with her knitting in hand while watching hockey or talking on the phone. The hats were donated to programs for those in need as well as to hospitals for newborns, and the sweaters were sent to overseas orphanages. Many people benefited from her beautiful knitting over the years. She was a faithful believer and contributed to the church in any way she could. Visitation will be held at Marshall Funeral Home on Friday, October 13th, at 11 AM, followed by the service at 12 PM.

It is here in this home, along with his beautiful wife where they raised their five children Donna (Michael) Bather (nee Woods), Donald (Cheryl) Woods, Kenneth Woods, James (Wendy) Woods, Jack (Bonnie) Woods. His wife and his family were always his first priority; however he was always ready to lend a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors when it was needed. When Harry and Gladys retired, they took the time to travel and explore and create some memories that were special just for the two of them and were able to take advantage of his sense of adventure. Most of all he loved each and every one of us in our own special and unique ways and knew how to make everything feel so much better when you could melt into one of his big hugs. Harry will be greatly missed by all. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at Marshall Funeral Home, 10366 Yonge Street, Richmond Hill on Saturday November 25th 2023 at 1:00 pm.Show more
