Raymond F Blackburn, age 89, quietly crossed over on October 6, 2023, at St Claire Hospital in Baraboo surrounded by his loving family Ray was born on August 15,1934 He was the son of Charles and Vera (Bennett) Blackburn He graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1952 Ray was united in marriage to the love of his life Betty (Betts) Olson on October 13, 1956, at the United Methodist Church in Necedah They had enjoyed 65 years of married bliss before her passing in August of 2022 Ray grew up on the family farm in the Town of Clearfield and worked as a welder at Walker Stainless After they married, Ray and Betts assumed ownership of the family farm and devotedly operated it for over 20 years After selling the farm they moved to Mauston, where Betts owned Blackburn's House of Cards and Ray began working for Energy Research and Development in Tomah Upon selling the House of Cards, they moved to Tomah Ray continued welding as a freelancer, building cow-lifts which he helped to engineer He also worked extensively with Tom Every (Dr Evermor) on his grandest metal sculptures, including the Telescope for the Forevertron Sculpture Park outside of Baraboo He then worked as a manager-foreman for many years at USEMCO in Tomah until his retirement in 2010 Ray and Betts enjoyed traveling together, including winters in South Carolina with daughter Kimberly and her husband John They kept a lifelong promise to one another to travel to England and Norway and from Canada to Mexico They also took fun and adventurous road trips with each of their grandchildren upon them turning nine Ray was the ultimate storyteller, whether it was spoken, written, or recorded He loved telling stories to anyone and everyone about family, friends, life experiences and fanciful tales he dreamed up on his own Most profoundly, Ray was a uniquely special man who was loving, kind and compassionate toward everyone he met Ray is survived by his children Faye (Don) Hubele, Ray (Debbie) Blackburn, Kimberly (John) Tonjes, Clint (Kari) Blackburn; grandchildren Michelle (Ben) Hinojosa, Jazmyn DeBerge, Brad (Hannah) Hubele, Levon Blackburn; great-grandchildren Cameron (Danielle) St Mary, Colton (Brittany) St Mary, Vincent DeBerge, Izzy DeBerge, Jaxon Hinojosa, Dominic Hubele, Rexton Hubele; great-great grandchildren Lila and Layton St Mary and Turner and Hallie St Mary He is preceded in death by his parents Charles and Vera Blackburn; son-in-law John Tonjes; father-in-law and mother-in-law Clifford and Helen Olson; Sister and brother-in-law Inez and Don Holy; nephew Charles Holy and his favorite Uncle Don Blackburn The family has chosen to have a private family gathering to celebrate his memories The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to all the caregivers and staff at Oak Park Place Assisted Living in Baraboo, as well the staff at St Claire Meadows We appreciate all the love and care they have given to our both our Dad and Mom The family would also like to thank Agrace Hospice Care, especially Jayme, Rae, and Leslie, as their comforting care to Dad and our family was a blessing to all of us And thank you to Dr Stuart Hannah, SSM Health for the many years of care The family is assisted by Hare Funeral Home of New Lisbon To to the family or in memory of Raymond F Blackburn, please

Jean C. Arciszewski, age 78, of New Lisbon, WI, passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, WI. She was born on March 30, 1945 to William and Victoria (Sykula) Wentworth in Cicero, Illinois. She was united in marriage to John C. Arciszewski on October 2, 1971 in Chicago IL. Together they enjoyed 52 years. Some of Jean's favorite times in life was when she was fishing or the many Caribbean cruises she took with her husband, John. She enjoyed living in Wisconsin and was happiest when visiting her friends cabin on weekends during her childhood, when she traveled north from Illinois. She is survived by her loving husband, John C. Arciszewski of New Lisbon; her dear friend, Shirley Schultz; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; along with several cousins. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, November 17, 2023 at 11:00 a. m. at the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Necedah. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 until 6:00 p. m. at the Torkelson Funeral Home in Necedah. Mark Kopplin

Age - 72

Mark Lawrence Kopplin, known to all as Kopps or Coach, took his final timeout on November 9, 2023, at 72 years of age. Born in Eau Claire, WI, on July 23, 1951, and passing away in Bangor, WI, Mark's life was a masterclass in enthusiasm, commitment, and a healthy dose of humor. Starting with his early life, Mark was a proud graduate of Menomonee Falls High School in 1969. He then moved on to UW Eau Claire in 1969 before transferring to UW Oshkosh in 1970. There he majored in Science with minors in Geology and Geography, but the only rocks Mark was interested in were those brown, oblong rocks with laces that were used on the football field at both Universities. Professionally, Mark was to the New Lisbon School District what Swiss Army knives are to camping trips - indispensable and multi-talented. From molding young minds as a 7th and 8th-grade Science teacher (don't ask him to explain the periodic table, he'd probably just make up some joke about it as this was his dad's specialty) to coaching High School football, Jr. High basketball, and Jr. High wrestling, Mark did it all. He even served as a School Board Member and sat on the New Lisbon Athletic Complex Committee. However, to him, these were just elaborate excuses to hang around sports arenas and 'borrow' equipment for his children. Speaking of sports, Mark was such a hardcore Badger, Brewer, and Packer fan that rumor has it he joked he'd be able to pay for his children's schooling and weddings with his sports cards and memorabilia collection. This, for the record, never happened. His love for sports extended to reffing volleyball and basketball games. He also enjoyed going hunting, but he would often end up "checking his eyelids for holes" in his souped up Kopps Kabin stand. Mark was a family man, though, above all else. His wife, Patti (Clary) Kopplin was his partner not just in life but was also the butt of many of his classroom jokes. His children, Kristen Kopplin, Katie Kopplin (Brian Olson), and Kirk Kopplin (Nicole) were often at the receiving end of his dad-jokes. His grandsons, Knox and Boone Kopplin, were the apples of his eye. His nephews Jason and Jerod Kopplin shared many hunting traditions and stories that were an integral part of the Kopplin name. He shared a special bond with his brother-in-law Joseph Clary (Barbara Nicksic) and had a wonderful relationship with his sister-in-law, Lana Kopplin. He is now cracking jokes, playing cards and sipping a gin and sour with his parents, Luther and Norma (Zank) Kopplin, brother Peter Kopplin, and in-laws Clark (Bum) and Germaine Clary, and James Clary, who preceded him in death. To describe Mark in three words, one could say he was friendly, thoughtful, and spirited. He had a heart as big as his sense of humor, a spirit as lively as his laugh, and a personality that could brighten up even the gloomiest days. Mark Lawrence Kopplin lived life to the fullest, always with a twinkle in his eye and a joke on his lips. He has undoubtedly left us with a void, but also with a lifetime of laughter and love filled memories. Here's to Mark, who taught us all that life is better when you're laughing. Romelle Haschke age 83 of New Lisbon, Wisconsin, passed away on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023 at Mile Bluff Hospital in Mauston, WI. Romelle was the daughter of Clyde and Ruby (Peckham) Stickney, and was born on October 8, 1940, in Hustler, WI. Romelle attended New Lisbon Public School, graduating in 1958. After graduating she worked for the American Society of Agronomy in Madison, WI. She was united in marriage to Ted Haschke at the New Lisbon Methodist Church on March 7th, 1964. Romelle worked for the New Lisbon Schools, retiring after 29 years. She was a past member of the Eastern Star in New Lisbon and a long-time active member of the New Lisbon Methodist Church. She was a member of the choir and was a past trustee of the church. Romelle enjoyed bowling for many years and doing the daily crossword puzzle. Her potato salad and baked corn were enjoyed by all at family events. Spending time with her family and friends was her greatest joy. Watching the Green Bay Packer games was a must. Each of her children and grandchildren remember her for spoiling them and taking real pride in their achievements. She also enjoyed attending their school events. It is with a twinkle in our eyes and a smile on our lips that we bid adieu to Peter Lance Schroeder, better known to all and several as Pete. Born on November 5, 1977, in the quaint town of Braceville, WI, Pete embarked on his final fishing trip on October 30, 2023, in Mauston, WI. Pete was a man of many talents, but his greatest gift was his ability to light up a room with his infectious laughter and irresistible charm. A graduate of the Class of 1996, Pete's lifelong commitment to learning was only surpassed by his devotion to making others laugh. As Robin Williams once said, "You're only given a little spark of madness. You mustn't lose it. " Pete never did lose that spark. Pete's colorful career took him from the military to construction, proving that he could build bridges both literally and figuratively. His time in the military honed his sense of dedication and discipline, while his stint in construction allowed him to showcase his creativity and ingenuity. As a member of various associations, he was known for his commitment, hard work, and most importantly, his ability to lighten the mood with his wit and humor. When not working, Pete was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing and hiking. He found solace in nature and often retreated to the wilderness with his faithful dog, Ollie, by his side. He was also an artist at heart, expressing himself through his drawings and tattoos. But the masterpiece that Pete was most proud of was the happiness he painted on the faces of those around him. He was the life of the party, a joy-bringer who couldn't stand to see anyone sad. Pete leaves behind a loving family who will miss his laughter and cheerful spirit. His parents, LaRene and Richard DiOrio, his son, Chance (Beaner) Kyle Schroeder, and his daughters, Charlee (Rae-Rae) Rae Schroeder and CheyAnne (Boo) Ellen Schroeder, will continue to keep his memory alive. Pete is also survived by his siblings and their families, Liela (Carl) vanVliet (Robbie, Steven) Kanasa, April (Mike) Jacobs (Paul) Elroy, Sunshine Schroeder (Lance (Kenny), Lacey) Mauston, Jud DiOrio Mauston, Alyssa (Ryan) DiOrio (Alayna, Jackson, Addyson) Mauston, and Tito (Tiffany) DiOrio (Bella, Destiny, Molly) Elroy. He was predeceased by his sister Trinity Elizabeth Griesbach. Pete's legacy will be one of laughter, love, and living life to the fullest. He was a man who knew how to find the silver lining in every cloud and the punchline in every situation. As the great Ellen DeGeneres said, "Most comedy is based on getting a laugh at somebody else's expense. And I find that that's just a form of bullying in a major way. So I want to be an example that you can be funny and be kind, and make people laugh without hurting somebody else's feelings. " Pete lived this philosophy every day of his life. So, as we say goodbye to our beloved Pete, let's not dwell on the sadness of his departure. Instead, let's celebrate his life, his laughter, and his love for bringing joy to others. Wade Parker

Age - 60

Wade A. Parker, age 60, of Necedah, a kind, thoughtful, and handy man, was born on Feb. 7, 1963, in Wisconsin Rapids, to Norman and Betty Lou Parker. He passed away on Oct. 23, 2023, at the Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse, after a brave battle with cancer. Wade was a 1981 graduate of Necedah High School. Post-graduation, he embarked on a fulfilling career delivering fuel, dedicated for over 25 years. His work ethic and commitment to service earned him many loyal customers throughout his tenure. On May 29, 1996, Wade was united in marriage to Deborah Kaan at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Shennington, Wis. Together they raised a close-knit family and created countless beautiful memories. Wade had a deep love for community service and youth development. He was a member of the Camp Douglas Masonic Lodge No. 272 and served as a commissioner for the Pop Warner Youth football program in Necedah and other areas. His commitment to the Lodge and his passion for coaching enriched the lives of many young people in the community. He was also a man who loved the outdoors. Wade loved to go camping with his wife, Debbie, at Brunet Island State Park and at Black Lake Campground. Their camping trips often included kayaking on the lakes, a pastime they both greatly enjoyed. Wade was also an avid deer hunter and enjoyed being outdoors, even if it was to just cut wood. In his spare time, Wade found joy in fixing things. Whether it was his tractor or someone else's broken item, he had a knack for repairing things and making them work again. His resourcefulness and handy skills were greatly appreciated by all who knew him. Wade was social and always had a story to tell. After years of resistance, he finally joined Facebook, where he became a regular presence on Facebook Marketplace. Wade is survived by his wife, Debbie of Necedah; two sons, Andy of Augusta, and Curtis (Claudia Becerra) Parker of Tomah; and a daughter, Meghan (Joshua) Maxwell of Coon Valley. He also leaves behind his siblings, Kallien (Lisa) Parker of Necedah, Timothy (Barbara) Parker of Necedah, and Shawana (John) Geidel of Mequon. He was a beloved grandfather to three lovely grandchildren, Dean, Presley and Carl John. His mother-in-law, Delores (Dennis) Dennison of Chicago, Ill. , along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and many friends, will miss him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Ralph Kaan; and the family pet, Webster. Wade was a man who lived his life with kindness and thoughtfulness, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. His life was a testament to his love for his family, his community, and his dedication to service. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched. Memorials may be given to the family. Eldon R. "Sandy" Sanders, age 85 of New Lisbon, WI. entered into eternal rest on the 17th of October, 2023, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Eldon was the son of Ingval and Muriel (Jorgensen) Sanders and was born on June 2, 1938, in Vienna, South Dakota. Eldon was raised in Iowa, where he graduated from Davenport High School in 1956. Following his graduation, he served his country with pride and honor in the United States Marines. He was united in marriage with Shirley J. Phelps on September 1, 1957, in Iowa, the couple later divorced in 1983. He later met his best friend and love of his life Sandra "Sam", (Phillips) whom he married in 1984 in The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They spent 35 wonderful years together, she later preceded him in death. Eldon was a dedicated father, grandfather, and brother. He leaves behind his son, Steven (Joanna) Sanders of Kenosha, WI, and his daughter, Susan (Scott) Terry of Grand Mound, IA. Eldon's love and guidance will also be missed by his grandchildren; Nathan Terry, Matthew Terry, Stephanie (Blake) Sims, Patrick Connell, Shauna Connell, Bernard Sanders, Marisha Ludwig, Michael Sanders, and Trine Sanders. He is also survived by his brother, Lyle (Kris) Kammer of Davenport, IA, and his best friend, Bud Rizner. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sandra in 2019, a brother Merlyn Sanders and a sister Lois Ploog. Known for his friendly and kind demeanor, Eldon had a deep love for life and the people in it. He had a varied range of interests and hobbies, which included boating and riding motorcycles. He had a keen eye for Hummel figurines, amassing a collection that was a source of joy for him. A man of faith, Eldon was a regular at church and a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in New Lisbon. His friends were an important part of his life, and he enjoyed spending time with them. Eldon R. "Sandy" Sanders lived a life characterized by kindness, a deep faith, and a love for his family and friends. His legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those he has left behind. Aldene Lucille Kannenberg of New Lisbon, WI, passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on October 15, 2023. Born in the same town on November 18, 1931, Aldene lived a full and remarkable life, leaving behind many memories. Aldene was a graduate of Tomah High School, Class of 1950. She was united in marriage to Donald R. Kannenberg on April 11, 1951, in Waukon, IA. Together, they operated a Sinclair Service Station in New Lisbon, marking the beginning of a journey filled with hard work. Throughout her life, Aldene embraced various occupations with tenacity. She worked as a cashier at Young's Truck Stop, a bartender at the Island Resort, and held positions at Energy Components in New Lisbon and Triple P Manufacturing in Necedah, WI. Her creative flair shone through her work in photography, where she specialized in touching up, fixing, and painting photos for several companies. Aldene also worked at Parker Hannifin as a machinist. She later worked at ARDC. Aldene was a member with the New Lisbon American Legion Auxiliary, where she served with dedication. She was also known for her love of the outdoors, often fishing for carp with 6# test line, and enjoying deer hunting whether or not it was in or out of season. Aldene is survived by two sons, Robert (Lori) Kannenberg and Karl (Kimberly) Kannenberg, both of New Lisbon, WI. She was a grandmother to Brandon, Kevin, Michelle, Marsha, and William, and a great-grandmother to Kammi, Taylor, Raymond, Harmony, and Lena. Aldene was preceded in death by her husband, Donald, and her three brothers and three sisters. Aldene also found joy on her 120 acre farm, where she raised Jersey cows and spent time working in the fields. Her love for nature and animals was infectious, inspiring those around her to appreciate the simple pleasures of life. Aldene was a woman of many talents whether fixing a machine at work or tending to her farm, she approached every task with a problem-solving mindset. While she will be dearly missed, her life serves as a reminder of the importance of love, creativity, and resilience. James Andrew O'Connor age 89 of Greenleaf, formerly of New Lisbon, WI. Passed away at home on Thursday, August 17, 2023. James was the son of George and Margaretta (Bowman) O'Connor and was born on May 20, 1934, at home in the town of Fountain. James was raised in the New Lisbon area. He started his work career working at Wheeler Feed Store, later owning it. After selling the feed store, he then worked at Reed Lumber Company in New Lisbon, and then later reading meters for Oakdale Electric Company. On November 7, 1971, he married Magdaline Gapinski from Illinois. He had been married 47 years when she passed away in 2019. James enjoyed woodworking and in his younger years mowing the grass and word search puzzles. James is survived by a niece Debra (Robert) Jensen of Greenleaf and a nephew Edward (Donna) O'Connor of New Lisbon. He is further survived by many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Magdaline, a sister and two brothers. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 25, 2023, at 11:00 A. M. at the First Baptist Church (525 S.
