In loving memory of Ray Stockton, 87 of Rupert Who passed away peacefully at Minidoka Memorial Hospital on September 22, 2023 Dad was born and raised in South Carolina and convinced his father to sign for him to join the Air Force, after he successfully obtained his GED He was assigned to Mountain Home Air Force Base, where he met the love of his life, Jean Santos, who was a teacher on the base They were married in Idaho Falls, in a double wedding with another couple who were their best friends They were married for 68 years, at the time of his death Mom and Dad had 3 daughters Brenda (deceased), Teresa (Darryl), and Judy (Bart), and a bonus son Shane Dad is also survived by 6 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren He was a volunteer for East End Fire Department for many years, as well as Civil Air Patrol, Citizens on Patrol He also served as a Judge while living in Challis After his service in the Air Force, Dad went to work for Van Gas, first in Salmon, then Arco, followed by Challis, and finally in Rupert His next adventure was the creation of R and J RV, which started on the front porch of our home The business took off and was eventually moved to it's current location, which was constructed by family Dad never met a stranger, throughout his life he was a friend to all He taught himself to play guitar, he played by ear and was an avid guitarist After retirement, Mom and Dad spent winters in Quartzite, AZ There they made countless friends The jam sessions were enjoyed by anyone who wanted to listen Several of these musicians went to heaven ahead of dad, I'm sure all are enjoying their music, picking and grinning After "retirement" Dad became involved with the Minidoka County Historic Society Museum He built countless displays for them, including recent displays with the help of his great-grandson, Stetson Dad enjoyed his time of service at the museum He was a man of many talents His drawings were wonderful He also carved any kind of wood he could find He will be missed by family and friends The family would like to thank Dr Julie Mills, the ER staff, Visions Home health and Hospice, and MMH, Your kindness and care was very much appreciated A special thanks to Emergency Response Ambulance Dad's resting place will be in a private cemetery on the ranch in Salmon, Idaho In Place of flowers and gifts, please make donations to the Museum, or the Rupert Senior Center A celebration of life will be held at the Minidoka Museum, Saturday, October 21, 2023 from 1:00 to 3:00 p m Please bring stories to share about Dad Arrangements are under the direction of Joel Heward Hansen Mortuary To to the family or in memory of Ray Otis Stockton, please
