Arlene Adair entered her Heavenly home on November 27, 2023. She was born June 28, 1929 in Oklahoma City, OK to Odys and Geulah Andrews. Arlene grew up in Mountain View, OK and attended Mountain View High School. She married the love of her life, James "J. B. " Adair on December 12, 1945. They were blessed with nearly 70 years of a wonderful marriage and family prior to J. B. 's passing on October 27, 2015. Arlene was a homemaker while her children were growing up. She also worked as a buyer for many years in retail. Arlene loved to shop and did it often. She also enjoyed creating ceramics and was incredibly talented at it. Arlene loved the Lord with all her heart. She and her husband were longtime members of Southern Hills Baptist Church. They cherished the countless relationships built there over the years. Above all, Arlene loved spending time with her family. She adored her grandchildren and they were the light of her life. She was preceded in passing by her parents, Odys and Geulah Andrews; her husband, J. B. Adair; son, David Adair; grandson, Allen Clark Adair; brothers, Johnny Andrews, Raymond Andrews, and Harold Andrews; and her sister, Mary Jo Andrews. Those left to continue her legacy include her son, Jimmy Adair and wife Sherry; daughter-in-law, Linda Adair; brother, Paul Andrews and wife Betty; grandchildren, James Adair and Norma, Melissa Sommer and Scott, and Matthew Adair and Sarah; and great-grandchildren, Erik Mejia, Wilmer Mejia, Jimmy Adair, Lezeth Adair, Seth Sommer, Anna Sommer, Isaac Sommer, Jackson Adair, Lily Adair, and Jude Adair. She is also survived by Teresa Woods, who was more like a daughter to her, as well as a host of many other loving extended family and friends.Show more

William Michael "Mike" Wood was born December 23, 1943, in Albany, CA, to the late William Webster & Lavinia (Dake) Wood. He went to his Heavenly home on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, in Oklahoma City, at the age of 79. Mike and the former Ms. Marty Husband were married on April 27, 1979, and were blessed with 42 years of marriage, prior to her death on August 19, 2021. Mike, better known as "Papaw", grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, where he graduated high school, receiving a scholarship to East Central University, that allowed him to pursue his love for football. After graduating from college in 1965, with a teaching and coaching degree, he moved to California to teach for a year. While in college, Mike set several records, many of which are held to this day. His passion for the sport of football, as well as his superior athletic abilities, granted him the prestigious honor of being inducted into the East Central Hall of Fame. At the age of 17, Mike joined the National Guard. Later, on May 23, 1967, he enlisted in the United States Army, serving during Vietnam. He was honorably discharged on May 22, 1969, earning several service medals, as well as two Purple Hearts. Mike was a devoted husband and grandfather. He loved his grandchildren fiercely and looked forward to watching them succeed and play sports. Mike was always close by to offer them his best advice. He enjoyed taking backroads to look for deer, having family dinners and watching football games and a good western movie. Although Mike may have been a man of few words, to know him was to love him. If you knew him, you were blessed. He leaves behind his granddaughter, Cassinda Newton & husband Jason, of the home; stepson, Lindell McDonald; grandchildren, Denny Boyd & wife Michelle of Davis, and Wilson, Bruno and Ava McDonald; great-grandchildren, Shania Maness, Hailey & Kylie Boyd, Dakota & Dezerae Newton, Cada & Jaylen Newton; great-great grandchildren, Olianna Newton, and Remi & Bexleigh Haslacker; brother, Eddie Wood & wife Carrie of Frisco, TX; sisters, Sue Roberson of Weslaco, TX and Judy Whittle of Aubrey, TX; sister in law, Kim Wood of Ada; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Mike was preceded in death by his stepmother, Norma Wood; brother, Pat Wood; and grandson, Wendell McDonald. Louise Gelmers was born October 5, 1930 at Ruby Hospital in Ponca City, the daughter of Luther and Henrietta Ferguson. She grew up on the family farm north west of Ponca City until 1942 when they moved to Ponca City. She attended elementary school at Fairview District 57. She finished her education in the Ponca City Public School System graduating from Po-Hi in 1948. She attended St. John's Lutheran College in Winfield, KS. She married the love of her life, A. Lloyd Gelmers, on August 12, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Ponca City. Louise and Lloyd had three children, Christy, Andy and Julie. Louise worked at the Jaqua-Shriver Ins. Agency for two years before she went with her husband to New Jersey while he served in the U. S. Army. Upon returning to Ponca City, Louise worked as the secretary of Lincoln Elementary School for 27 years. She enjoyed being the secretary for 7 principals and many teachers. She loved the hundreds of children who attended Lincoln throughout the years. Louise retired in 1994. Louise was an active member of the First Lutheran Church for her entire life. She taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and the Lutheran Women's Guild. She also enjoyed serving on the Altar Care Committee for many years. She loved her three children very much. For the first 11 years of her retirement, she traveled between Ponca City and Oklahoma City to care for her daughter, Christy, through her battle with breast cancer until Christy lost the battle in 2005. Louise loved her six grandchildren and she was very proud of their accomplishments. She gave the biggest smile when she met her great-grandson Ethan Elliott for the first time and whenever she saw a picture of him. Louise loved having the family get-togethers at her house, especially the family Christmas Eve party. She was famous for her banana bread, pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and date cookies. She was also know for making sure there was always more than enough food at every family dinner. The family enjoyed making jokes about her making too many scalloped potatoes. She enjoyed collecting Hummel figurines, Frankhoma pottery, swanky swigs, and other antique glass dishes. She learned to enjoy watching college and professional sports on television with her husband Lloyd. Later in life she cared for her husband while he struggled with Parkinson's. After his death, she fought her own battle with Parkinson's Dementia until her death on November 26, 2023She is survived by her son Andy Gelmers and wife Cindy of Tulsa, and her daughter Julie and husband Neal Lawrence of Ponca City, her six grandchildren Steven Elliott and partner Michael Duhan of Austin, TX, Robert Elliott, and wife Amanda of Dallas, TX, Alex Gelmers of Tulsa, Megan Gelmers of Oklahoma City, Britany Lawrence of Ponca City and Andrew Lawrence of Boulder, CO, one great-grandson Ethan Elliott of Dallas, TX, her Sister-in-law Kathryn Ferguson of Madison, Wisconsin, and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents Luther and Henrietta Ferguson, her husband A. Lloyd Gelmers, her daughter Christy Elliott and husband Ken Elliott, her brother Lewis Ferguson and wife Sue Ferguson, and her brother Donald Ferguson. Trout Funeral Home of Ponca City is in charge of the arrangements. Family visitation will be at Trout Funeral Home on Wednesday, November 29 from 4-6pm. Funeral services will be at First Lutheran Church on Thursday, November 30 at 10:30. Interment will follow at Resthaven Cemetery. Harold Dean Pense, beloved husband of Dorene, adored dad of Chad and Marc, loving father-in-law of Christy and Kendra, loved and adored grandpa of Taylor, Brett, Ryan, Jill and Madelyn and special Uncle to Sonya and Nick, passed away on November 22, 2023. Harold was born on October 3, 1944, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Wallace and Frances Leona Judd Pense Guild. After attending elementary and junior high school in Texas and Oklahoma, Harold graduated from Perry High School in Perry, Oklahoma, with the class of 1963. In February, 1965, Harold joined the Air Force Reserve. He was honorably discharged in 1971. In September, 1965, he began employment with The Charles Machine Works or otherwise known as Ditch Witch, in Perry, Oklahoma. He worked as a production planner until he retired in December of 1998. On January 29, 1966, he married Dorene Sands at the Church of the Nazarene in Cimarron, Kansas. His father-in-law never let him forget that he had to come to Kansas to get a girl and that he got married on Kansas Day. Harold always felt that his greatest accomplishment in life was his sons, Chad and Marc. He loved gaining two daughters-in-laws. He lovingly said they were never going to be an in-law. When Chad married Christy and when Marc married Kendra, he was a happy dad. His happiness was not complete, though, because his greatest happiness to come would be when his grandchildren, Taylor, Brett, Ryan, Jill and Madelyn were born. His grandchildren were the absolute lights of his life. Harold was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Perry, Oklahoma. He served as church treasurer for forty-two years. He was an usher and he served on the church board. His love for missions was evident when he took a trip to Antigua and to the Dominica Republic to help build a church in each country. He always took an extra Bible with him so he could give one to someone who didn't have one. He was a member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and cutting firewood. He also enjoyed reloading his own ammunition as well as reloading ammunition for his friends and family. To watch one of his grandchildren participate in an activity was the ultimate enjoyment for him. To serve his Lord and Savior was Harold's desire in life. Preceding him in death were his parents, his mother and father-in-law, his sister-in law and his brother-in law. Memorials can be made to the Caribbean Missions in care of the Church of the Nazarene, 829 Jackson St, Perry, OK 73077.
