Ray Duncan passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on September 28, 2023 at the age of 86. He was born in Dixon, Kentucky but moved to Indianapolis, Indiana with his family in 1941. He is preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Vivian Duncan, his sister Phyllis Duncan Hall, his brother Wilbur Duncan and 2 grandchildren, Dobbie and Isiah Jones. He attended George Washington High School where he was a three sport varsity letterman, voted 1955 Senior Class President and earned the nickname "Froggy". After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ann Duke and they had two children. He worked in the manufacturing industry as a supervisor until he retired in 2000. Ray and Shirley moved to Chesapeake, Virginia in 2015 to be close to their daughter and granddaughter. Ray became a "Grandpa" at a young age and therefore shared a special bond with his firstborn grandchild and namesake, Somer Rae Wilson. Not only did Ray love playing sports, he enjoyed coaching his daughter's softball teams in Avon, Indiana. He also enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful wood pieces and furniture. He is survived by his bride of 68 years, Shirley (Duke) Duncan, sister, Sue Duncan Phillips; son,Timothy Ray Duncan; daughter, Tami Duncan Jones; Five grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. As per his wishes, he will be cremated with no service. Brenda Ruth Stewart, 83, of Morganfield, KY, passed away on Wednesday, November 29th, 2023, at Morganfield Nursing and Rehab in Morganfield, KY. She was a member of Grangertown Baptist Church. Brenda loved her church work and music. She was involved in Girls in Actions in her younger years and later with WMU. She especially loved working with teenagers, and was very active with school events that involved her children, band and sports. She loved quilting, cooking, canning and gardening. Brenda was also known as the "Strawberry Lady". She was the daughter of the late Samuel Simpson and Hazeal Joyce Edds Murphy. She was preceded in death by a sister, Monica Hazelwood, and a brother, Noah Murphy. Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Thomas Stewart, of Morganfield, KY; 2 daughters Elise(John Caudill) Wagoner of Clay, KY and Addonis(John) Roy of Nebo, KY; 1 son Wally(Jill) Stewart of Slaughters, KY; 6 grandchildren Brent Stewart, Ashley Whitledge, LaDarra Jackel, Layden Wagoner, Talon Roy and Hunter Roy; 6 great grandchildren Slade and Blake Whitledge, Claire, Max and Luke Stewart and Tallulah Rose Jackel and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, December 4th, 2023 at 12p. m. at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. John Brumfiel and Rev. Eugene Walters will officiate. Dorothy Brown Farmer 87, of Dixon, KY passed away on Sunday November 26th, 2023 at her home. Dorothy was a member of the Dixon General Baptist Church in Dixon, KY, as a child she attended Harmony Baptist Church with her grandfather. She was a KY Colonel, and a retired School Teacher, she taught Typing and Business for over 37 years, she started out her career at Sebree High School, then Equality High School, Clay High School and then finished her teaching career at Webster County High School, she continued to substitute teach for many years, she graduated from Western Kentucky University and Murray State University with a Master’s Degree in Business Education. While at WCHS, she was the FBLA sponsor for many years and after retirement she served as secretary and treasurer for the WCRTA for 25 years, she also was a member and served as secretary of the WC Democratic Club. Dorothy enjoyed spending time outside planting flowers and sitting on her front porch and loved riding around to enjoy her Arby’s and Ice Cream. She was the daughter of the late Billie and Georgia Brown. She was preceded in death by her son William Ray "Buddy" Farmer. Survivors include her Daughter in Law/Caregiver Jennifer Davis Farmer of Madisonville, KY; 4 grandchildren Katrina Farmer(Donald) Stafford, Justin(Kristina) Farmer, Johanna Parker and Kodie Littlepage; 4 great grandchildren Collin, Conner and Carlee Stafford and Abby Farmer. Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 2nd, 2023 at 1pm at Townsend Funeral Home in Dixon, KY. Rev. John Brumfiel and Pastor Tami Coleman will officiate.
