Randolph "Randy" Holland Trull passed away on June 17th, 2022, just a few weeks short of his 92nd birthday. He was born on July 7th, 1930 in Raleigh, NC, to the late Walter Everett Trull and Mabel Holland Trull. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother James E. Trull. Randy is survived by his sister-in-law Juanita Trull of Raleigh, NC, and two nieces, Catherine Trull (John) of Johnson City, TN, and Holly Trull (Howard) of Raleigh, NC, a great niece, Amanda Holden (Dustin) and their son, Ethan Holden, a great nephew, Chadwick Trull and several cousins. Randy graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1948. He then studied at Campbell College, Buies Creek, NC for two years. After completing his studies in NC, he enrolled in the Parsons School of Design in New York City. His studies at Parsons were briefly interrupted by a short enrollment in the United States Navy. When his service duties were over, he returned to Parsons for a study abroad program which allowed him to travel through Europe. Upon completion of his studies, Randy returned to New York City to begin his 55 year design career. Randy produced products ranging from fabric to clothing to home furnishings. He held many design positions at companies such as Kandell Fabrics, J. P. Stevens, Bloomcraft and Croscill, where he was the VP of Design for their curtain division. In a 1975 publication, House Beautiful wrote, "Randy Trull is one of the six most important textile designers in the United States". In terms of fabric alone he made his mark: His designs sold 18 million yards of material and his "Randy Trull" bedspreads and pillows landed in 3. 5 million American homes. Later in his career, his name was closely associated with Sunbrella(c), beautiful hearty fabrics marketed by Glen Raven Mills, Inc. Later in life, Randy made his home in Wilmington, NC. There he enjoyed the friendship of his dear cousin, Paula Dayvault and her husband Steve. Randy placed great value on his numerous and close friends all over the world, they were a second family to him. When Randy was not busy designing, he enjoyed traveling the world, racing through the marshes and waterways of Wrightsville Beach on his WaveRunner, hosting festive dinner parties in his Wilmington home, and spending time aboard his yacht, the R Holland.
