Randall August Tatman, 73, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 10:24 p. m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, at his home. He was retired after over fifty years as a truck driver. He was born November 4, 1949, in Highland, Illinois, the son of the late Ralph Frederick and Irma Belle (Hagler) Tatman. He married Vickie C. Pearce on June 30, 1984, in Oakland, Illinois, and she survives. Other survivors include seven children, Lesa (Chris) Fairbanks of McDonald, Tennessee, Tina Cobb of Bloomington, Illinois, Kelly (Steve) Atterson of Clinton, Indiana, Shelly (Anthony) Johnson of Paris, Elizabeth (Matt) Keck of Chrisman, Illinois, Brandy (A. J. ) Tucker of Paris, and Rodney (Cheyenne) Tatman of Paris; two brothers, David Aldridge and Ralph Tatman, Jr. ; three sisters, Pegeen Wiseman, Judy Rigdon, and Andrea Rogers; twenty-five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters. Randy enjoyed being active in Scouts for many years. He will be remembered as a faithful husband, devoted father, and proud grandfather who left a legacy of always putting family first. Nancy Ellen Foote, 84 of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 9:16 a. m. Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at her residence. She was born October 11, 1939 in Paris, the daughter of Alonzo and Ruby (Jones) Brown. She married Donald Haupt January 5, 1966 in Horace, Illinois; he passed away August 8, 1972. She then married Donald Foote September 2, 1988 in Henderson, Kentucky; he passed away November 15, 2014. Survivors include three children, Tony (Diana) Haupt of Paris, Michael (Beth) Haupt of Lilburn, Georgia, and Cheryl (Jeff) Dennis of Norcross, Georgia; five grandchildren, Emily (Craig) Burkholder, Andrew Haupt, Ira (Melissa) Dennis, Paitte (Amanda) Haupt, and Adrienne (Beau) Hutten; two step grandsons, John and Jacob McKown; and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; one son, Morris Haupt; six brothers, Howard, Russell, James, Alonzo, Jr. , Paul, and Larry Brown; and two sisters, Marian Radcliff and Lelah Alexander. Nancy retired following her secretarial career at several local businesses. She was a member of Paris First Church of The Nazarene and a lifetime member of VFW Post 3601 Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and was proud of her volunteer work with the Paris Hospital Volunteers, with which Nancy logged over 2,000 hours. Paul Howard Ruff, 75, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 1:37 p. m. Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Horizon Health. He was retired after over thirty years as Administrator/Manager for the City of Paris and the Village of Mount Zion, Illinois, and he had previously worked as a self-employed drainage contractor. He was born June 17, 1948, in Paris, the son of the late Hon. Howard T. and Ruth (Dick) Ruff. He married Beth L. Eaker on January 20, 1979, in Vermilion, Illinois, and she survives. Other survivors include two sons, Charles W. (Briana) Ruff and Tim Paul Ruff; four grandchildren, Savanah Ruff (Ethan Favorite), Alyssa Ruff, Austin Ruff, and Kayleigh Ruff; and one step-granddaughter, Kate Summerlin, all of Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Jebe, and a brother, Donald Ruff. Mr. Ruff served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and earned his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from the University of Illinois. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Paris where he had served as deacon and elder as well as other offices where needed throughout the years. He was also a member of the Kiwanis Club of Paris for a number years. Although private, quiet, and sentimental by nature, behind the scenes Paul Ruff was a powerful catalyst for positive change in his community. He was a current member and Public Properties Commissioner for the Paris City Council. He was elected to a number of terms of the District 95 Board of Education. Paul worked closely with Paris Economic Development Corporation throughout his career and was a current member of its Board of Directors. Among many other achievements, Paul was instrumental in the GSI expansion and the ensuing water project which resulted in the extension of water service from Paris to Chrisman. In his spare time, Paul enjoyed old cars and woodworking and was a dedicated arborist. Richard S. Walker, 69, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 8:10 p. m. Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the owner and operator of Walker Heating & Cooling since 1990. He was born January 11, 1954, in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of the late Richard and Joyce (Strohm) Walker. He married Rhonda Compton on November 28, 1975, in Danville, Illinois, and she survives. Other survivors include three children, Christopher Walker, Aaron Walker, and Michelle Schmeiderer all of Paris; six grandchildren, Paven, Nova, Valerie, Natalie, Conner, and Jenna; and a sister, Theresa Bishop; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Scott Walker, and a sister, Sharon Walker. Dick was a hard worker and was proud to work alongside his son. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren, who will remember him for his even-keel but funny personality, his wardrobe of white T-shirts and cargo shorts, his willingness to drop everything for whatever they needed, and his enjoyment of Klondike Bars, cigarettes, cats, thin mints, casinos, and misplacing his dentures. Joanna Jane Knoepfel, 59, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 10:38 a. m. Sunday, November 12, 2023 at her home with her family at her side. Joanna was born June 11, 1964 in Elgin, Illinois, the daughter of the late Kenneth A. and Marilyn J. (Lewis) Jensen. She grew up in Marshall, Illinois, with her maternal grandparents, Lawrence ( L. B. ) and Mildred (Irwin) Lewis. She attended Lake Land College where she met the love of her life, Kevin Lee Knoepfel, 40 years ago, and he survives. They were married on May 30, 1987, in Marshall, Illinois at the Marshall First United Methodist Church. Other survivors include her children, Jenny Irene (Christopher Michael) Burke of Dawsonville, Georgia, and Hans William Knoepfel of Paris; her granddaughter Molly Irene Burke of Dawsonville, Georgia; and brother Steven (Lu Ann) Jensen of South Beloit, Illinois. Joanna had a vast working career being at the IT Department at TRW, the IT Administrator at ZF Boge North America, and Paris Community Hospital before finishing her career at Paris High School. In her personal life she was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in Paris where she held the position of Pastor-Parish Committee chairperson for several years. Her experience was instrumental in setting up most of the church's technology. She was also a former member of the Altrusa Club. When her children were growing up, she became involved with the PHS Band Parents Association over an 8 year span of time. While there, she kept track of the student accounts for major trips to help assist raising money for the band members. Lastly, while her daughter attended Eastern Illinois University, she assisted with being the secretary of the EIU's Parents Club for four years. Joanna enjoyed traveling with her family over the many years. Her favorite traveling moments were out west to Spokane, Washington. This is where she would visit her husband's grandparents, Keith and Irene Winkle and his uncle, Neal Winkle. Some of the more memorable travels included attending in person to witness her son march in the Macy's Thanksgiving parade and the Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California. During Joanna's free time, she enjoyed doing needlepoint and adored taking rides in her 1939 Studebaker Coupe Express Truck. Mary R. "Mike" Craun, 95, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 12:25 a. m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Paris Health & Rehab Center. She was a devoted homemaker. Mary was born September 30, 1928, in Paris, the daughter of the late McMinn B. and Arlene Elizabeth (Winans) Shaw. She married Donald D. Craun on April 28, 1957, at the Presbyterian Church in Paris. He preceded her in death October 2, 2013. Survivors include two children, Elizabeth J. (Garry) Sallee of Paris and William D. "Bill" (Alexandra) Craun of San Diego, California; five grandchildren, Audrey (Jason) Harvey of Collinsville, Illinois, Sarah Sallee of Pendleton, Indiana, and Ethan, Natalie, and Gavin Craun all of Carmel, Indiana; three great-grandchildren, Annabelle, Brayden, and Christian Harvey; and her friend and former daughter-in-law, Rhonda Craun of Carmel. Mrs. Craun was a 1946 graduate of Paris High School and attended Millikin University. She was an active and devoted member of the Presbyterian Church of Paris for many years where she had served as Elder and lay speaker. Mike was energetic, friendly, thoughtful, and generous, and had a keen interest in the human spirit. She loved meeting new people and learning their stories, and she never stopped making new friends. Mike also had a heart for animals and always showed them kindness and compassion. Mary Ruth Clark, 87, of Paris, Illinois, passed away at 6:38 p. m. Wednesday, November 8, 2023, at Horizon Health. She had worked at the former U. O. Colson Company and as a cook at Mayo Middle School. She was born June 14, 1936, in Paris, the daughter of the late Henry L. "Arkie" and Mary Ellen (Stipp) Horton. She married Robert F. Clark on November 7, 1958, at Horace Baptist Church. "Big Bob" preceded her in death on October 2, 2016. Survivors include two children, Robert E. (Laura) Clark of Paris and Cindy J. (John) Knobloch of Winterset, Iowa; a brother, Leo Horton of Twin Falls, Idaho; a sister, Juanita Branham of Terre Haute, Indiana; three grandchildren, Kenton (Brittany) Clark of Paris, Ryan (Julie) Knobloch of Winterset, and Ross Knobloch of Winterset; eight great-grandchildren, Haylee Clark, Kyden and Aullie Clark, Drake and Beau Knobloch, and Laney, Briley, and Owen Knobloch; and one great-great-grandchild, Lenley Clark; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kaleb and Ashley Clark; two brothers, Tom and Les Horton; and a sister, Retta Childers. Mrs. Clark was a 1954 graduate of Paris High School and enjoyed being a member of Keeping Off Pounds Sensibly (K. O. P. S. ). Mary Ruth was a very devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was wholeheartedly loyal to her family and friends.
