Ramona A. Sapone, 94, of Monessen, passed away on Sunday, September 10, 2023 in Jefferson Hospital, with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 19, 1928 in Arnold City, PA, the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna (Dunay) Sepesky. She was loved by so many, to her special bingo friends Josh, Mandy, Hunter and Kelly. Her grand-dogs Bentley and her special great grand dog Calie whom she adored so much. She loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates play and always rooted for Andrew McCutchen. She loved gambling at the casino, playing cards and of course bingo. She was a feisty, strong willed caring and giving person. She was a member of the former St. Leonard's Catholic Church and an active member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Church where she used to help with the funeral lunches, Festivals and other events. She was also a former member of the Epiphany Ladies and Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Special thanks to Rostraver EMS for the times we called them when she needed to go to the hospital and for all the love and care they showed not only at those times but while we used them for wheelchair transportation to get her to and from dialysis. Thank you to her wonderful care team of home health thru AHN and her loving and caring team of caregivers, Patti, Courtney, Kelly and Stacy. She loved you all as if you were her own. Thank you to all the wonderful nurses and staff on 5 north at Jefferson hospital for taking care of her until the end. She is survived by her son, William S. (Susan) Sapone of Erie; daughter, Barbara A. "Sapone" Charley of Monessen; Her granddaughter and best friend Angela Sapone and her special person Dan, of Monessen; grandson, Bryant (Megan) Sapone of Erie; great grandchildren Chase and Annie Sapone; two sisters, Nida Sungala of Monessen, Valeria Crevier of Gurnie, IL; brother-in-law, Vince Salotti of Pheonix, AZ; sister-in-law, Carol Sepesky of Monessen and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband William Sapone; three Brothers, Andrew "Ozzie", James and Vincent Sepesky, two sisters, Johanna Core, and Karen Salotti. Friends will be received Thursday, September 14, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Dalfonso-Billick Funeral Home Inc. and Cremation Services, 441 Reed Avenue, Monessen. Additional visitation will take place on Friday September 15, from 10 am until 11 am at Gospel Alliance Church, 1011 Fells Church Rd, Rostraver Twp. , PA 15012. Services will begin at 11 am. Entombment will follow in the Grandview Cemetery Mausoleum. John A. Dudas, 92 of Monessen, PA passed away Saturday Nov. 11. He was born in Monessen in the Dudas Maternity Hospital on Aug. 29, 1931. He was the son of the late Dr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Dudas. John was and preceded in death by Louise Wallace Dudas, his loving wife of 55 years. He was a graduate of Monessen High School class of 1950. He served six years in the National Guard and served in Germany during the Korean War. He then owned the Dudas Sunoco Service station in Monessen and went on to work for the PA Department of Revenue in Harrisburg. He worked as a Dental Technician for Drs. Dudas Dental Associates and continued to work for Belasco Ober & Associates until he retired at the age of 80. John was an avid skier, in 1960 he was founder and President of the Mon Valley Ski club. He was a lifelong active member of the Knights of Columbus in the 4th degree, over his lifetime held offices as Grand Knight, District Deputy, Faithful Navigator, and District Marshall. He was an active member of Epiphany of our Lord Parish and his community with the Monessen Senior Center, Greater Monessen Historical Society and the Slovak Cultural Society. John was also very involved with the Veteran's organizations including Monessen Veterans Council, VFW, American Legion and was Chairman of the Restoration Committee for WW I and WW II Memorials in Monessen. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Dr. Joseph, Dr. Thomas, Richard and Andre Dudas. He is survived by his son John A. (Leanne) Dudas, Jr. of Norfolk, VA; daughter Roberta (Randy) Baker of Greensburg; four grandchildren, Colton and Katharine Baker; Galina and Jack Dudas. He is also survived by his brother Dr. Martin and wife Madeline Dudas of Monessen. Sisters-in-law Virginia Dudas of Latrobe PA and Melissa Wallace of Greentree PA; Brother-in-law Thomas (Helen) Wallace of Wayne PA and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 p. m. Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 at DALFONSO-BILLICK FUNERAL HOME, INC. , 441 Reed Avenue Monessen. A blessing will be held at 9 a. m. Saturday, Nov. 18, 2023 in the funeral home, followed by a 9:30 a. m. funeral Mass in Epiphany of our Lord Roman Catholic Church, 44 Pennsylvania Blvd. , Monessen. Interment will follow in Holy Name Cemetery, Monessen. Robert (Bob) (Tybo) L. Tyburski was born on December 23, 1935. Bob led a life dedicated to public service and community involvement. From his years in the US Army to his active participation in local organizations and his impactful role in Monessen's education system, Bob made a lasting impact on the community he loved. He was born to Bennie and Stephanie Tyburski, both of whom have since passed away. He attended Monessen High School, where he graduated as part of the class of 1953. After completing high school, Bob served in the US Army, where he dedicated himself to ensuring the safety and security of others as a Military Policeman. His commitment to serving his country was a testament to his patriotism and sense of duty. Bob retired from the Monessen Post Office, after 35 years of service. After his postal service career, he worked funerals for the Robert A. Billick Funeral Home in Monessen. He actively participated in various local social clubs in the community including the Monessen Hilltop Firemen's Club, Polish National Alliance (PNA), and Croatian Clubs in Monessen. Bob also served as president of the former Polish Club 2213. He was a member and usher at the old St. Hyacinth Church and later became a member and usher at the current Epiphany of Our Lord Parish. These roles reflected his deep faith and commitment to spiritual service. Moreover, Bob's influence extended to the Monessen School Board, where he served diligently, advocating for the betterment of education in the city. For over 30 years, he was known as the "Voice of The Monessen Greyhounds," lending his voice to school events and establishing connections with the broader community. One of Bob's most significant contributions to the community was his involvement in baseball. In the early 1970s, he played an instrumental role in establishing the Monessen Bronco Baseball field at Columbus Park. This field became a gathering place for baseball enthusiasts and fostered a love for the sport among the younger generation. Not only did he contribute to the local baseball scene, but he also served as a Regional Baseball Director for Pony Baseball for many years. His passion for the game and commitment to its development positively impacted many aspiring players. Alongside his public service, Bob Tyburski cultivated a vibrant family life. Surviving is his wife of 65 years Nancy (Szabo) Tyburski and their four children: Barry and Joanie of Hershey, PA, Ricky and Cindy of North Huntingdon, PA, Ronnie and the Honorable Rebecca of Penn Township, PA, and Davy and Gail of San Antonio, TX. Their love and support served as a strong foundation for their children's success in various endeavors. His beloved grandchildren held a special place in his heart: Colton, Baylor, Ricky C. and Kristen, Tyler L. , Kyley and Michael, Tyler K. , Kevin and Jessica, Dylan, Amber, Taylor, Jason, Tawnya and two great-granddaughters: Victoria and Charlotte. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph L. , and sisters, Jennie Hrebnar and Nancy Dzyak. Bob is also survived by his nephew Gary Dzyak of Vermont. Bob Tyburski's life was a testament to the power of community engagement and personal dedication. From his military service to his involvement in local organizations and his impactful role in education and baseball, he made a profound impact on Monessen and beyond. His legacy lives on through the memories shared by family, friends, and the community he served so devotedly. Sophia Eva Schuresko, 107, of Pipestem formerly of Monessen, PA passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at her home following a short illness. Born April 12, 1916 in Monessen, PA she was a daughter of the late Charles Vasily Punzell and Eva Hrebin Punzell Sobran. Sophia was a member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church in Monessen, PA. She was a homemaker and an airplane factory worker during WWII. Sophia enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Alexander Schuresko; two brothers, Charles Punzell and John Sobran and two sisters, Mary Costine and Anna Punzell. Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Mary Jane Neely and husband Robert L. of Pipestem; one son, Daniel David Schuresko and wife Janet of Wisconsin; three grandchildren, Michael Schuresko of California, Stephen Schuresko of Maryland and Christine (Sylvie) Schuresko of Wisconsin and five great grandchildren. Graveside service and burial will be 2:00 P. M. Thursday, November 9, 2023 at the Levi Allen Neely Cemetery on Rocky Mt. Road in Pipestem with Fr. Michael Foster of St. Mary’s Orthodox Church in Bluefield, WV officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery from 1:30 P. M. until time of services on Thursday at the cemetery. Broderick "Bubba" Crawford, age 68, of Monessen, PA departed this life on Sunday, October 22, 2023, in the Greentree Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greentree, PA. He was born on December 26, 1954, in Brownsville Hospital in Brownsville, PA to the late Gerald Crawford, Sr. and Sarah (Hungerford) Crawford Sanders. In addition to his father, Bubba is preceded in death by his stepfather, Malachi Sanders, Jr. and stepbrother, Dana Sanders. Bubba was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Grindstone, PA. He loved his family and playing basketball, watching sports, and dancing. He graduated from Mary Fuller Frazier Memorial High School in Perryopolis, PA. He was employed as a laborer at the Clairton Steel Mill, in Clairton, PA and later employed as a janitor and laborer of odd jobs at C. Harper Cheverlot in Belle Vernon, PA. He leaves to celebrate his homegoing his mother, Sarah Sanders; brothers: Gerald "Jerry" Crawford, Jr. , Russell Sanders (Claudette), Graylin Sanders (Carol), Roland Sanders, Malachi Sanders, III (Tessa); sisters: Sheila "Diane" Crawford who was also his caretaker, and Melanie Sanders; son, Brandon; grandchildren: Bryel, Brandon, and Brenda; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. Julia Sewak Francowic, 99, of Monessen, PA, passed away peacefully early Friday, October 20, 2023 after a beautiful evening surrounded by her children and family. Julia was born on August 9, 1924 to the late Mitro and Julianna Sewak in Donora, PA. Sister to Anne Feher Kurilko, Helen Vagnoni, Mary Beresh, Pauline Ellsworth, Verna Kovalak and Frank Sewak, who preceded her in death. During her lifetime, she was a member of the Monessen Hilltop Fireman's Ladies Auxiliary #2, Monessen Parent Football, and Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church in Monessen. She enjoyed dancing, walking, and sitting in her backyard. Julia loved all animals, especially her dogs Cody, Stoney and Barney. Julia was the wife of the late Edward A. Francowic and loving mother to ten children - Edward (Patti) Francowic of Monessen, Deborah (Richard) Spadafore of Charleroi, Richard (Gail) Francowic of Greensburg, David (Carol) Francowic of Charles Town, WV, Rosemary Francowic Spaw of Monessen, Diane (Tony) Organ of Monessen, Michael (Michelle) Francowic of Monessen, Sharon (Dennis) Balsano of Dubois, Robert Francowic of Monessen, and bereaved infant daughter Julia Francowic. Julia dedicated her life to her children, supporting them unconditionally and celebrating their dreams and accomplishments. She embraced new spouses and cherished the families they created. Julia was proud to be everyone's mother. Darlene R. Hackinson, 66, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023 at home with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 24, 1957 in North Charleroi, the daughter of the late John Sr. and Mary (Cocca) Turkovich. She was a member of the former St. Cajetan's Church and current Epiphany of Our Lord Church. She was a 1975 graduate of Monessen High School, she went on and studied at Western CTC and became a nurse and worked at Westmoreland Manor, she also worked as a steelworker for Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel. Darlene was an avid sports fan and loved watching the Pittsburgh Pirates, Steelers, Penguins, Ohio State Buckeyes and Monessen Greyhounds. She loved her family very much and enjoyed going on road trips with her daughter. She is survived by her loving husband of 43 years Dennis Hackinson; her daughter Mary Anne (Kyn Hardin) Hackinson; Three Brothers, Anthony (Peggy) Turkovich of Hunker, Michael (Brenda) Turkovich of Madison, Donald (Michelle) Turkovich of Dunlevy; three sisters, Sherri (Bernie) Fertall of Monessen, Susan Turkovich of Monessen, Mary Marsden of Monessen; Sister-in-law, Patty Clousi of Fallowfield Twp. ; seven fur grandkids TK, Geno, Duper, Peanut, Oliver, Oshie and Snickers and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert A. Mascetta, 92, of Monessen, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born on December 2, 1930 in Monessen, the son of the late Frank and Marianna (Carrozza) Mascetta. He served our country during the Korean War in the United States Navy on the U. S. S. Coral Sea. He was a member of Epiphany of our Lord Church, The Holy Name Society, Monessen Knights of Columbus 954, Italian Society of Mutual Aid, Teamsters Union Local #872, American Legion Post #28 and Mid Mon Valley Shipmates. He was employed by the Page Division of American Chain and Cable and Fox Grocery. Bob and Bev were world travelers, ballroom dancers and enjoyed attending numerous Italian festivals. He was a gifted carpenter, winemaker, an avid sports fan and loved all things Navy. Most of all family came first. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Beverly (Schivley) Mascetta, daughters, Valerie (Steve) Beck and Lynn (George) Josay of Monessen; grandson, Billy Christopher Josay; granddaughters, Ashley (Rob) Zullo and Wendy (Brett) May; great grandchildren Anthony Moses, John Rocco and Bria Josay and Cameron Robert Zullo; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Sue Schivley and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings Nicholas, Anthony, Riccardo and Sue Mascetta. A special thank you to Amedisys Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
