Rachel Jeanette Smith passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, June 20, 2022, at the age of 84. Rachel was born July 9, 1937, in Jackson, TN to the late John Harold Smith & Jeanette Prendergast Smith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Annie Mai Jamison and Harriett Huggins. She raised walking horses and was active in many horse associations and livestock associations. In 2021, she was made a Lifetime Director and placed on the Wall of Fame for Madison County Farm Bureau. She is survived by her dear friend and partner, Theresa Elmore; her partner’s children, James Elmore (Jackie), Anthony Elmore (Maria), John Elmore (Beth), & Gary Elmore (Karen); four nieces, Marilyn Ellis (Paul), Betsy Alexander (Andy), Joyce Jamison, & Patricia Lynn (John); and many friends. A graveside service and burial will take place 11:00 AM Friday, June 24, 2022, at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 PM Friday, July 8, 2022, at St. Mary’s Catholic. . .
