Mr. Purdie Shaw, 67, of 84 Ollie Shaw Road, Harrells, passed away on Sunday, May 07, 2023, at CFVMC in Fayetteville. Purdie was born February 27, 1956, in Bladen County to the late Ollie & Annie Highsmith Shaw. In addition to his parents, Purdie is preceded in death by one brother: Ollie B. Shaw. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Murphy's Chapel AME Zion Church, 6250 NC Hwy, 210 E. , Harrells. The Rev. Dennis Funderburk will be officiating the service. Interment following the service at Community Cemetery, Murphy Town Rd. , Harrells. Purdie leaves to cherish his memory, two daughters: Veronica Highsmith of Harrells; and Shawana Lindsay (Roscoe) of Fayetteville, 3 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, two brothers: John Michael Shaw (Dorothy) of Norfolk, VA; and Roy Lee Shaw of Raleigh, four sisters: Phyllis Graham (Barry) of Hope Mills; Linda Beatty (Jerry) of Hope Mills; Annie Doris Johnson of Harrells; and Tina Owens (Timothy) of Harrells, sister in law: Shirley Shaw of Garland, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 1:00-6:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00-6:00 PM, at Carter Funeral Home in Garland.
