Davidson, NC Porfirio "Beef" Moreno Munoz Jr. , age 74, passed away on Friday, October 6, 2023. Porfirio was born in San Antonio, TX, a son of Porfirio Munoz Sr. and Manello Moreno. Beef enjoyed football. His favorite teams were the Kansas City Chiefs and Carolina Panthers and Tarheels. He loved to listen to music. His songs of choice was "Save Me" by Jelly Roll and Tennessee Whiskey by Chris Stapleton. Beef loved working out and going for walks. And he loved his Coronas. He was always a giving person and never met a stranger. Preceded in death was his grandchild Justin. Surviving is his wife, Sarah Ann, four daughters; Leslie, Enid, Diane, and Debbie (Maurice), two brothers; Ralph (Debbie) and Ricardo, and one sister Virginia, eight grandchildren; Jordan,Max, Miranda, Christian, Amanda, Tyler, Troy, and Christopher. Beef also has three great-grandchildren. Beef had a special friend, Carol Walker of many years. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 15 from 2-4pm at Sechrest-Davis in High Point. Martha Wilson Venable of Pageton, West Virginia and longtime resident of High Point, North Carolina, passed away on November 27,2023, at the age of 91. Martha was born on July 2, 1932, to her late parents, William Elmer "Smokie" Wilson and Virginia "Toad" Wilson. Martha loved to spend her time reading books and sewing quilts for her family. She also loved to travel and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles with her granddaughters. Martha is survived by her son Vic Venable and wife Mayra of Parkville, Maryland; her son Clif Venable and wife Clairann of Reseda, California; her sister Brenda Hadjigeorgalis and husband Mike of Virginia; her sister Sally Childers and husband Bruce of Rutledge, Tennessee; her brother Richard Wilson and wife Darlene of Roanoke, Virginia; her brother Gene Wilson and wife Susan of Princeton, West Virginia; and her brother Mark Wilson of Pageton, West Virginia. She is also survived by her granddaughter Jaime Kemery and husband Brian of Renton, Washington; her granddaughter Alicia Joswiak of White Marsh, Maryland; her granddaughter Carmen Venable of Baltimore, Maryland; her granddaughter Ashley Venable of Parkville, Maryland; her granddaughter Avalon Venable of Resea, California; as well as her great-grandchildren Hunter Kemery, Isabelle Kemery, and Adalynn Kemery of Renton, Washington. Martha is also survived by several nieces and nephews. A celebration of Martha's life will be Saturday December 16 at 1pm, with visitation from 12-1pm at Sechrest-Davis Funeral Home. HIGH POINT - Charles Lee McDaniel, 93, died Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at his residence at Westchester Village. He was born April 19, 1930, in High Point and was the son of the late Lloyd Marion and Lillie Mae Embler McDaniel. He retired from Oakdale Cotton Mills where he had worked the majority of his life and was a golf enthusiast. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorcas "Dot" Barbee McDaniel. Charles is survived by his daughter, Sherry VanEvery of Cornelius; son, Danny McDaniel (Tammie) of Trinity; four grandchildren, Jason VanEvery (Sarah), Nicole VanEvery Bobb (Travis), Cody McDaniel, and Logan McDaniel; great-grandson, Brayden Bobb; and brother, Bobby McDaniel of High Point. Deacon Robert Lewis Williams was a loving husband and father of ten children. He took his journey to be with the Lord on December 1, 2023, at the age of 69. He was born and raised in Halifax County, NC to Mrs. Addie Lee Williams and Mr. Albert Williams on February 22,1954. He attended Brawley High School. God was always first in Deacon Robert’s life. He was a member of the Victory Center Church were served as a deacon under the leadership of Apostle Timothy L. Warren. He worked for James Clyburn Concrete company as a team leader. He had a passion for serving others, hosting family events, and caring for others. Deacon Robert would help anyone he could. He also enjoyed activities such as fishing, hunting, bowling, mowing lawns, cooking, working on cars, and assisting with the students in the High Point Central Marching Band. Deacon Robert was preceded in death his parents; one son, J. R. ; one brother, Willie; sisters, Pearl, Dot, Rose and Christine. Left to cherish his wonderful moments and memories are his wife, Deborah Williams; nine children, Addie, Ryan, Michelle, Shavonda, Curtina, Faatimah, Raymond, Robert, and Cassandra; four brothers, Albert, Authur, James and David; two sisters, Lora and Nora; a god-son, Warren Reed Jr. ; along with a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.Show more

Mr. Derek Myron Little, 56, made his earthly transition at his home on Sunday, December 3, 2023. He was born October 8, 1967, to Patricia and the late Louis Little. He attended High Point public schools and loved to run track in high school. Derek enjoyed music, especially classical and old-school R&B, and loved to hear his mother sing. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Derek had a kind, loving, and generous spirit and an infectious smile that will be sorely missed by many. His response to I love you was always, "Love you more. " He was our lil’ brother, our "Bae". May God bless his soul. High Point, NC Barbara Oxendine Burkhart, age 76, departed this life to be with her heavenly Father on Monday, December 4, 2023 following several years of declining health. Barbara was born in Robeson County, April 3, 1947, a daughter of the late Lacy Oxendine, Sr. and Armanda Jacobs Oxendine. She was a dedicated worker of forty years at Alma Desk Furniture and Marsh Armfield Furniture. Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis R. Burkhart; two sisters, Betty J. Oxendine and Connie Hunt and a brother, Bobby Oxendine. She thoroughly enjoyed trips to Cherokee. Surviving to cherish her memory are two sisters, Alice Jacobs and Retha Locklear; two brothers, Lacy Oxendine, Jr. and Larry Oxendine (Mary) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Graveside service will be held Friday at 2 p. m. at Floral Garden Park Cemetery by Rev. Dilly Hunt.
