Phillip Lemonds Obituary

"Phillip "Phil" G. Lemonds, age 78, of Ballwin, MO, formerly of Kellogg, IA, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, in Ballwin, MO. Phil was born on May 11, 1944, in Newton, IA, to L. W. "Tote" and Ella "Jane" (Overmeyer) Lemonds. He grew up attending school and graduated from the Newton High School with the Class of 1963. He worked at Midwest Manufacturing in Kellogg, IA, for over 40 years until his retirement. Phil was an avid sports fan. For many years, he attended all of the Newton High School football, basketball, and baseball games, where he could always be found not in the stands, but on the sidelines. He was recognized by the school as a "super supporter. " Phil enjoyed camping and keeping an eye on his nieces who lovingly called him Hawkeye. Family was everything to Phil. He lovingly cared for his mother during her final years and cherished all of the time he spent with all of his family. Phil is survived by his sister-in-law, Jane A. Lemonds of Ballwin, MO; and his 2 nieces, Kimberly Johnson of Ballwin, MO, and Krisi (Doug) Howland of Kansas City, MO. Phil is also survived by many cousins and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tote and Jane Lemonds and his older brother, Thomas W. Lemonds. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p. m. on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at Oak View Cemetery in Albia, with Pastor Richard Grimes officiating. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to the Kellogg Fire and Ambulance Department in Kellogg, IA. "
